- The first swell of 2023 hits Southern California and the waves are massive! Surfers and bodyboarders charge gnarly shorebreak wave and perfect point break serves up a 10 second tube!!! Smoookifications we a plenty both in and out of the ocean! All footage was filmed on January 6 2023.

@@chasestinson1222 Hi Chase , I live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland , Australia , the amount of littler , plastics and drink cans that are dropped daily saddens me so , a lot near open drains and yes , when the rains come , out to sea they go , I often say , man is the only living thing on planet earth that on a daily basis tries to destroy its own habitat , utter madness . Ultimate surf. Sic shorebreak, awesome barrells, sand bottom, waves along coast surfing with mates.
I was born/raised/ lived in Cali until the age of 46. It's rare to see large surf like this. I've seen Newport Beach streets flooded in the past.
That last spot was awesome!

Had a buddy I worked with call in on a run of waves like this and said he burst his spleen and would have to miss a few weeks. Laugh 😂 cried. Boss told me it wasn't nice to laugh at someone's misfortune. I told him I promise you... I'm not sir.
Going out that many times right after heavy rain might actually make you sick, so it's legit.

I know nothing about surfing, just impressed by the huge waves. It looks like surfers can ride longer on smaller waves, at least considering how the big waves are breaking here. Guy @ 2:07 getting hammered by a wave. 😮

I used to catch this Place really good a long time ago I dated some chick in Sunset Beach so I went there all the time in the 70s . It goes through long periods of not that great but when that place is on it's just all time great video brother
1970s 80s I used to ride my bike here board under my arm from LBC. South Side occasionally made surf mags(without naming names). I learned to surf on north side and the jetty. Thanks to the San Gabriel river shit and body parts end up on the beach. Learned to get deep barrels and instantly after step on the sand at South Side Seal. Thanks to social media south Side is all the talk in pubs in London England

I worry about those guys getting wiped out that close to the beach. Landing head first in that shallow water. I wonder how many serious injuries happen? It's still great to get to see this. Total greatness on them and the work catching this for us to marvel at.

Redondo BW was absolutely firing, even on the AM high tide. But just getting into the water, was potentially lethal, particularly as the tide started to head out.
So I see that I did pretty well on size...but Seal and Sandbar were holding shape, with much less potential consequence. And as Koston demonstrated - all time kneeboard prospects.
I'm kinda tempted to go in one of those directions, on this coming Friday...
