@@prismstudios001 its just the fact that you can have a device that does nothing but music, and IPods were some of the last devices Apple made before they went to complete fore mover function and anti repair tactics
Ahh the memories I remember owning one of these when I was a kid I had an iPod classic so to watch you bring 4 of them back to life and customise the colours both amazes me and makes me happy to watch ❤️😁
Nice job mate! I also made several of these. Bought broken ones, fixed them and sold them. Felt good making them new again, making sure they again could last years again. :)
amazing work! I really miss iPods despite having Spotify and RUclips music. I had an iPod nano 3, so pink it'd burn your eyes. Little thing did a full cycle in the washing machine AND dryer! It still worked for years after that, even a bloated battery couldn't stop it.
Another great video. Going to cruise through your channel and see if you did a segment on restoring/repairing a first gen click wheel ipod. I had one for many years and after watching your videos, got inspired to replace the mechanical HD with an SSD but now I can't find it. I'll keep looking - starting first in my kids' rooms :).
I used to have one with a black/dark grey front, red wheel, gold center button, and rainbow back. That thing looked incredible. My newest one will be purple front and button, black wheel, and rainbow back, with 256GB solid-state memory and a battery with five times the power of the original. For some reason I just refuse to switch over to streaming for the most part. There’s something appealing about being able to play a ton of music without having to be online, be connected to Bluetooth, drain your phone’s battery, have a signal, etc.

Goodness I LOVE the purple and red iPod Classics! Would love to have both and wish Apple actually made them in those colours! I also really do not miss the days of the stainless steel backs on iPods. Way too easy to scratch and never liked the look of them anyways. The anodized aluminum backs always seemed to hold up much better.
@@RestlessFisher Thank you for your comment Alex, that is why I asked if there were batteries available for the Mini. I am sure I will learn for myself if I look it up, but just thought someone else would know. Charles
Nice restoration of those iPods! It's crazy to see just how valuable those iPods are in Australia: I paid about £60 for mine about a year or so ago. Also, one of those iPods has already sold out, and the other is on the Hugh Jeffreys store for $220 AUD. I would potentially purchase items myself (if needed) but shipping is only to Australia.
The red and yellow one is just so amazing. Yeah i admit that that's my favorite color, Pink, Yellow and Red are my favorite colors But it's a shame that the yellow one is only a housing and no internals but at least you get the red one working
Recommended screen Hugh? I have to replace mine after a child dropped it. I already have replaced the HDD with SD & new battery. The ifixit store doesnt seem to carry those parts in the Australian store.
Hey, just wondering. Of all the repair tools you have, what is your favourite? It would be awesome if you could mention this in the next video. If not I understand. And is the ring around the click wheel just dirt? Or meant to be there?
Between Hugh, Dankpods, and, Psivewri, Psivewri is the only one that says “ba-ter-ry” instead of “ba-tree”

It's not "ba-tree", it's "bat-tree"

Tip from Dankpods: Put a piece of bluetack or something on the SD card to keep it from being kicked out if the iPod is dropped.
