Well, he is worth 4 Million the last time I checked. And seeing how he lives in a van and has all the gear he needs and only pays for gas, food and other small bills, I’m pretty sure he still has almost all of that 4 Mill. Not to mention 25% of his earnings go towards his foundation that provides solar power lights for various places such as Africa, South America ect. Where ever he climbs, he gives back to those people in need. He’s a true modern day Robin Hood. He just climbs rocks and mountains instead of shooting with a bow. He’s just a very nice, humble loving human being. It’s just gonna be very shitty hearing about his death one day on the tele. That’s just what happens to good human beings such as himself. Like Steve Erwin. They give their time, love and energy into the people, animals and environment around them, and then they tragically die. Mean while POS who just take from the world and destroy it live long disgusting lives. Even though he’s and atheist, I’m still praying for him. God Bless Alex.
America(and most other "first world" areas) are breeding insanely consumerist societies. Money is the root of all evil, yet it seems to be most (first world)people's only motivation to live.
@Christina Reynolds you must not know any good people lol. Maybe try to surround yourself with a better environment. Real recognize real, clearly you don't recognize.
I think what I love most about Alex is perfectly encapsulated in the fact that he scrambled up El Cap with nothing but shoes and a chalk bag, yet he defines completing a 1,000 piece puzzle in one go as epic
actually he didnt even go up with a chalk bag, he forgot it at the bottom and had to borrow one from some climbers who were sleeping half way up the mountain face and left it for them at the top after he was done :D
@Christina Reynolds yet here he is supporting other people through charity while also providing marketing for countless climbing gyms, tourism businesses and his sponsors. Him living his dream does not seem selfish to me at all, believing people shouldn't because (I'm assuming) you don't is what's selfish.
*Milerski* are you referring to the video he did at the Oscars where he tested his grip strength? If I recall, he discovered that his left hand was stronger than his right.
You seem so negative and bitter,@Christina Reynolds. Sad. He " cares for no one," however, he gives 30% of his income to his foundation which provides solar energy to third world nations, helping both humanity and the earth. He works for it often. What do you do on this scale?
Wow, Christina, "Beaten up on the streets", that's a pretty weird place to go. Aggressive thoughts. No, you certainly could not relate to Alex Honnold or what he represents.
@Christina Reynolds He has a weird look on his face because of Aspergers. People with Aspergers have a lot of trouble making eye contact and often something will look off in their eyes. Aspergers is also why he has interest in one repetitive activity. Your comments extremely ignorant, and misguided.
And I could not have loved this more; because so many of your questions made Alex out and out smile; and that's the best thing you could do for this world. Have that face smile on the youtubes. Nice one.
I love this guy. You have such Zen to you. Your so open and honest and you fully accept yourself and understand what your purpose is. Therefore you really don’t need much to make you happy. I among many other people, truly envy you Alex. I hope I find my true passion someday also. I plan on trying rock climbing soon because of you. Not because I think it’s my passion, but bc I’m scared of rock climbing and one of my only memories of it is trying when I was younger, and jumping off of the wall half way up because I was scared. I want to embrace it for what it is. And embrace the feelings that I feel. Blessings and thanks from Ny,NY
This guy is pretty cool! Graduated the same year in 2003 but from different schools here in Sacramento. Met him a few times with friends in high school.
Sure, but it's not meant disrespectfully. The title is meant to be fun, like "you won't believe what this guy does!" It's really not shameful. I don't think Alex would mind.
Exactly. If he were crazy he'd be a grease spot on a rock by now. His friends call him Alex "No Big Deal" Honnold but "No BS" is more appropriate. Dude is sharp as a tack and couldn't lie if he tried.
Someday I will make a video like this! This motivated me to keep doing what I love to do and that's make videos! My videos maybe good they maybe bad but that won't stop me from making my dream a reality!!! Thanks for making this video it really helped!
Alex is Top 3 favorite persons this year. His no nonsense honesty’s refreshing. I dislike what he sad about anti-pet. While I could agree if pets are in homes where they’re mistreated, ignored, chained, etc. But many others live far better lives than if they were without “owners,“ i.e. fending for themselves in the wild.
Many animals neither have tags or microchips. Animals who do, are because their “owners” care for them and care about finding them if they get lost. Would you kindly shut up and quit trolling me.
Finally the movie came out, it is called free solo. I watched it and it is one of my favorite movies ever.. I reccomend everybody to go watch it. Btw great vid.😀
Title is stupid. I've listened and watched a ton of interviews with Alex. One of the best is the Lynsey Dyer podcast. He is one of the smartest and sanest people I've seen.
"Hey Alex, you've just free soloed El Cap, what are you going to do next?" "I'm going to my PO Box to see if there's a check from Disney World - stay tuned!"
2 favorite pieces of climbing geer : Climbing shoes and chalk bag. If it was three there would be a harnest. There you go ... says it all right there !!!

@katy scott What don't you get? If you are wondering how he can get above a 4.0 it's because most High Schools equate an A in an AP or IB class with a 5.0 grade point. He went to a really good school in a well off neighborhood that tends to produce overachievers. To give a sense of the type of kids who go there I dated a chick who graduated from Mira Loma that was disappointed she got into her second choice college. That 2nd choice school was UC Berkeley.
Who should we feature next in this series??
Whistle, Kris Bryant! Idk, Cubs fan here... 😅
James May.......
Your mom..thats not an insult...really

@Christina Reynolds or how bout when you call someone moronic, it shows how sour your heart is
I think what I love most about Alex is perfectly encapsulated in the fact that he scrambled up El Cap with nothing but shoes and a chalk bag, yet he defines completing a 1,000 piece puzzle in one go as epic
Why? It's both natural and logical. Climbing comes natural to him, while puzzles or brainy tasks doesn't. That's how we all work.
Scott- I totally agree! I burst out laughing when he said that. ;'D
What I love most about Alex is his straight forward honesty, intelligence, and no compromises.
actually he didnt even go up with a chalk bag, he forgot it at the bottom and had to borrow one from some climbers who were sleeping half way up the mountain face and left it for them at the top after he was done :D
Him saying he spends most of his time climbing and when he's too tired to climb he sleeps is the answer of a man living his personal dream
Christina Reynolds

If the average person commenting had an average IQ this would be a much better place.
His honestly is so refreshing. Such a pure soul.
Lol of course delight comes to mind.
- Alex "I just free solo-d El Cap in a few hours and I'm so delighted" Honnold.
He's a rock climber so of course he always throws rock.
he said "delighted" at end of free solo movie!! definitely his favorite word!!
Alex is basically a one man antidote to everything that is bad about modern society.
He's little runt fuckboy
No. He comes across like a liberal, van-dwelling, ramen eating soy boi.
Agree
Hence the reactions you see above
Tony Marselle he’s constantly on the road bc of what he does and he basically lives out of his car, so it’s not like he could properly care for one
Surly Alex would crush in thumb wars??
Yeah he probably has crazy hand strength
Not to mention his thumbs/fingers are huge!
He said in an interview (a few days ago) that he has weak hands. Strange to hear from him
*Milerski* are you referring to the video he did at the Oscars where he tested his grip strength? If I recall, he discovered that his left hand was stronger than his right.
@@musicaltheatergeek79 Exactly, he brought that up in his oscar interview after that, I think it's a different channel
I was smiling the entire time. What a great guy.
Where is your favourite place to take a nap?
- "I immediately think of certain ledges at El Cap"
made me laugh quite hard thank you
I am truly blown away by how perfectly his vision of life is. It’s inspiring and dedicated and most of all honest. ❤️
he is such a refreshing human being
A guy who rejects superpowers. Legendary
@D B good point lol
@D B cause he wants animals to be free
Humble, authentic, frugal, practical, and FOCUSED. Alex is all of the things I aspire to be as a man.
yeah, he's like the embodiment of Rudyard Kipling's 'If'

Alex is one of the most badass athletes alive. I have so much respect for him
The irony of Alex only using rock in rock, paper, scissors
It's like ten thousand spoons, when all you need is a knife
Thats not what irony means
it wasnt irony but a joke lol
too much iron in the blood.
Rock is also his favorite genre of music
Alex "I did a 1000 piece puzzle in a single push" Honnold
The first time I liked a person so much, basically a good guy

Yes,Alex is top 3 favorite persons this year😍
This guy is pretty cool! Graduated the same year in 2003 but from different schools here in Sacramento. Met him a few times with friends in high school.
Thank you, Alex, for being an inspiration. May guardian angels protect you. May your noblest aspirations in philanthropy exponentially prosper.
I love how honest he is.
Alex is a compassionate and enlightened dude. Amazing!.
The disrespect to Alex with the title of the video is shameful. I'd say he is one of the sanest 'famous' people I've ever heard speak.
i totally agree
Totally. So lame.
Sure, but it's not meant disrespectfully. The title is meant to be fun, like "you won't believe what this guy does!" It's really not shameful. I don't think Alex would mind.
Well he seems very intelligent and reasonable. So he is not crazy, he is just crazy obsessed with climbing I guess. Which is crazy dangerous :P
Exactly. If he were crazy he'd be a grease spot on a rock by now. His friends call him Alex "No Big Deal" Honnold but "No BS" is more appropriate. Dude is sharp as a tack and couldn't lie if he tried.

Pets must 'escape' to leave. They're prisoners
Nonsense. Many pets are free to roam outdoors and could “escape” if they chose to do so.
@@imaw1nn3r98 Free you say? With tags and microchips connected to a worldwide system for a tidy return of the escaped prisoner.

@Skyler.G I've had and enjoyed pets before. I don't see how that affects the ethical nature of having pets.

Crazy here means unbelievablr
That look when he is asked summer or winter, like, "Is that even supposed to be a question?"
Then again he also love skiing, so i guess winter is not that bad for him
thanks for spoiling the film now we know he lived nah I'm kinda joking

Ask him if he’s scared of heights.
He's not. He's afraid of falling.
Michael Burgess he’s Afraid of falling in front of his friends
I really enjoyed that! Thanks.

That hilarious I have the same RPS strategy. Only throw rock 👊
This is great.
I like how he says he is the subject of the documentary Free Solo, and not he is the 'star'
the directors wanted to do a piece on him, and he wanted to do a piece on el cap, so he doesn't even see himself as the star, the mountain is
