A guy tried online to say that scoring 50 points in an NBA playoff game is more impressive than Alex's feat. Might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. What an idiot.
That's defenitely arguable, especially when you factor in the life and death outcome. If you go to Olympics and win 8or 10 gold medals, had you didnt quite win you go home with Silvers. If Alex doesn't win he doesnt go home
I can’t tell if Alex is getting better at dealing w, and steering media surrounding climbing questions or RE is just that much of a badass that he just gets it. Good Interview
He's not scared of heights- like at all, They scanned his brain and he doesnt have that fear so if you dont have this fear then what he does comes easily. Don't get me wrong he's amzing and what he does is hard but not really thst brave.
@@mikekoz68 that’s not the case, it’s not that he doesn’t have fear, the film explains that after years of practice his amygdala has been desensitized to fears like heights, and requires a higher level of stimulation than the average person to be activated. He has a fear of falling just like anyone, but the film shows he approaches the climb in a precise, practiced, intentional way with lots of visualization and reputation.
He literally achieved something that nobody can, and nobody will try. Perhaps one of the greatest human physical feats ever, and he lives in a van lol.
@@The08linkin Not one person in a million could physically do it either. He not only did the first free solo, he also set the speed record for that route.
This guy is the biggest SCAM artist ever. He never free solo'd El Cap. It's a bullshit documentary to make money. Ever wonder why he declined news cameras and never climbed anything free solo since then??... because he's a faker
Jordan, Phelps, Bolt yes...Brady is not a freakish athlete, he is a very average athlete, but his preparation and dedication and work ethic is what makes him elite. Im sure Alex has those qualities too
Actually, none of them come even close. The closest will be in the MMA world but even then, yeah, not really. What he is doing is far and beyond the mere athletics of its technicality. The closest will be historical fighters who fought their entire lives without ever losing. To a degree you could argue comandos should be compared but there's no real comparison. Not a good one anyway. The simple truth is, there is one Alex - the rest of us are all pathetic losers.
This is the world's greatest athlete with no equal, or peer. The strength, the endurance, and psychological focus required to climb El Capitan is not equaled in any sport. Unless you can grasp the free solo climb of El Capitan we cannot have an intelligent conversation.
Alex (Greatest rock climber in the world X 1000): No, actually you want smaller hands. Interviewer who can hardly climb out of bed: Well I would have thought that is not the case
What disturbs me a bit, is that Alex isn't really honest about himself and explain it more that he doesn't feel fear the same way like average person. His behaviour doesn't change if he goes high elevation like most people would be terryfying and have symptoms of fear and lead to a disaster. In his mind he is still in low non lethal altitude. Surely he knows what happens if he fails but explaining this would be very useful.
It would be nice if the interviewer could do some basic homework and research his invitees... Every single questions asked had already been asked to Alex previously. Do your job man...please. That was aweful.
0/10 subject research 0/10 wit / charm / humor 0/10 improvisational skills Good thing you had Alex - an introvert - to carry the entire weight of this social exchange. 😒
Alex has the single greatest athletic achievement in human history
yes. yes he does. and nobody seems to really get that
For sure

Humble guy, great athlete. Probably, the greatest physical feat ever, Free Solo was amazing, just incredible. Be safe Alex !!
People need to watch Free Solo. You can arguably say he's the only person in the world to do what he does. It's absolutely insane.
My feet and hands were dripping that entire movie.
@@Rian-zf7ye I have watched it six times. I still sweat.
Nope, not the only free soloist. He may be the safest though.
Alex Honnold is a rock climbing 🧗♀️ artist 👍🏽
Not the only one who does it, but he is the best in the world at Free Solo
He's wearing his approach shoes :)
Sure, I'll give you your 100th like 👍 for that
🤜💥🤛
I can’t tell if Alex is getting better at dealing w, and steering media surrounding climbing questions or RE is just that much of a badass that he just gets it. Good Interview
Joseph Regan I have the same the question. I just think RE is a good interview.
i feel like RE just is intelligent enough to allow himself to be educated by Alex
Alex and Free Solo is bringing so much new attention to climbing, it's amazing and so inspiring
Yes! Can’t wait for Tokyo, it’s a shame free soloing can’t really be a catagory haha
Maybe a live stream from Yosemite will be possible one year haha
Easily top 5 human endeavors of all time. A freaking squirrel would think twice about doing what he did. Epic Alex.
He’s an amazing human being
TOP 1 nobody's even really close tbf
@nowand beyond he's not the #1 climber he's the #1 free solo but very far from being #1 climber.
@@aidancallan1591 ya but now now we laugh at the ropes wusses.
Pete is never wrong it’s easily the best climbing endeavor ever. It’s perfection or die.

He has a house in Las Vegas nowadays ;)
Such a simple and down to the earth man, really love him
Alex is an Elite athlete and cool dude! Free Solo is a MUST watch!
A must own too.
Good interview, the host showed him the respect he deserves :)
This was actually a great interview. I was pleasantly surprised to watch this.
free soloing el cap is the greatest athletic feat of all time
And the greatest self-inflicted pain feat of all time was that first attempt at Meru by Conrad's party.
It was more of a mental feat than purely athletic
@@The08linkin Not one person in a million could physically do it either. He not only did the first free solo, he also set the speed record for that route.
Dianna Niad swimming from Cuba to Key West unassisted has got to be in the top 3. Doesn’t beat Alex but top 3.
@@kargelr he set the speed record for the Freerider route back in 2012. The free solo was done in 2017.
He's not crazy or a daredevil; it's like he's the opposite. He's almost freakishly logical.
Agree and the ones who aren't are dead now.
This guy been doing interviews for like 4 years straight lol
It's good money and it's easy, win win.

ALL OF THAT HARD WORK PAID OFF!! CONGRATULATIONS ALEX!! I HOPE ALL OF YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE!! 😊
Extremely talented ,and also extremely brave.
Bruh my knees were rubber just watching Free Solo, imagine climbing that son of a bitch El Cap
Simply comparing this interview to the one jimmy kimmel did shows just how different these two men are
Any interview that is less than an hour is pointless. You only get talking points and soundbites from these bullshit talk shows.
Jimmy Kimmel is like having a kindergartner interview Einstein. Unintelligible.
Definitely one of the better interviews with Alex.
Love this guy
Rich Eisen is heavily underrated as an interviewer
Great interview
"I know you don't like to drop, but drop names". ~ Rich Eisen 🔥
hey, this might actually be a GOOD honnolt interview, mainly because eisen isnt pretending to know anything about climbing
How is his charitable organization not called Free Solar?
People seem not to know what to do with him when his minimalistic, van-living side comes out.
It's such a foreign idea in 2019 America. "Travelers" used to be commonplace.

God bless Alex.
Sir Ducklord: God obviously has.
"If your hands are really big everything feels small" my girlfriend always tells me I'm big, but now I think it's just because she has Barbie hands.
Awwww .. that's a sad thought. However, take heart; Even Alex Honnold says 'all things are relative'. She's definitely a keeper.
🤣 omg barbie hands
What watch does the interviewer have
Excellent interview!!!

Favorite interview with Alex
Top 3 athletes of all time:
1. Michael Phelps
2.Alex Honnold
3 Michael Jordan
Great interview~
I honestly hope he stops free soloing. I would be soooo sad if something happened to him.
Alex and Floyd Mayweather Jr are the most humble athletes in the world no doubt about that!
Mayweather?! Are you sure? Lol

Mikey B. Jimmy from Quadrophenia.

When I so the trailer, I thought this is impossible, once I saw the movie, I thought this is science fiction.
Now do you see that it is real?

It was an excellent interview... Alex is burnt on this stuff, but, I think he enjoyed this interview...
