I heard Johnston talk to Bolke about this test on Ballistic Radio and had a thought. What about the Super Duper Test!? Set up the same B-8 targets with one at 5, 10, and 15 yards with a couple of yards of distance in between the targets from the shooters perspective. Shoot the same course of fire but allow 2 seconds for reloads (maybe more for revolvers) between each target and shoot them all consecutively. It brings in all the fundamentals of the Super Test (stance, grip, enough sight alignment, enough trigger control, recoil management) with transitions and reloads thrown in. I'm sure I'm not the first one to think of this but that sounds pretty hard to me! Can't wait to try it.
I recently ordered some B-8 targets, from Amazon. I ran "The Test" yesterday, with all rounds in the black easily, but the 10 ring is pretty small. Tough drill. Can't wait to try this one, also.
The Pocket Pro 2 is probably the most popular one and it's pretty good. I have a CED 7000 and I like it because it's small enough to fit in my pocket (instead of clipped to my pocket or belt) but it has to be recharged often and doesn't take regular batteries.
Not enough people talk about Ben Stoeger and I don't know why. Everyone knows who all the ridiculous Instagram instructors are but you mention Ben and most have no idea...
There's another version made specifically for snub nose revolvers called the Snubby Super Test. Details here: www.activeresponsetraining.net/hardwired-tactical-snubby-super-test
If the hole breaks the line, you get credit for the higher scoring ring. But it has to be the actual hole, not just the tears in the paper. If there's any doubt, you can stick a cartridge in the middle of the hole and see if it really does touch the line, but I tend to err on the side of not giving myself more credit than I deserve for any questionable hits.
Lucky Gunner Ammo When I saw the different versions, my first thought was, "but what about 5 shot?" Then other odd capacities came to mind. Obviously a 10 shot 22LR Revolver or a 1911 running 10 round CMC mags could use the normal test, and I'm guessing an 8 shot revolver uses the single stack test, but what about a 7 shot?
Jayesh Patel He shoots it a lot but he didn't come up with it. He did recently come up with a variation of the Super Test with much tighter time limits.
NotQuiteEpic Dunno what to tell you. Last time I was stuck being a member of a range like that, I just shot fast anyway... Tried to go when no one else would be there and made sure all my rounds stayed on paper (and not the target stands or launched over the berm). Nobody ever said anything... YMMV.
Indoor ranges where they yell at you for rapid fire even if your shots are all on paper probably have ceilings full of holes and lanes full of people who put holes in ceilings. I drive past several such places to get to an outdoor range where I get my own bay and I can do holster work, shoot steel targets, and do faster shooting drills.
I hope this is not a test for defending ones life. There is no movement to get off the X and no 360 degree checks. Now if its just marksmanship, then its fine.
It is a test of basic marksmanship. One of the guys who came up with it used variations of it to train and test members of his SWAT team. He noticed a very high correlation between guys who could perform well on tests like this and guys who could perform well in actual shootings. So no, it's not a very flashy drill, but it turns out basic marksmanship is pretty important when it comes to shooting bad people.
I strongly encourage anyone in the DFW area to get out and train with Wayne and D.B. they are great guys and great teachers! Hardwired Tactical
That was AWESOME revolver marksmanship!!!! Fantastic!
Would have been a lot more awesome if I had actually passed the test.

This was well timed. I put an order for in for ammunition 15 mins before this came out. From Lucky Gunner, of course!
David Manning Eeeeexcellent.
Oh this is what's up! That drill looks awesome. I love things like this.
LOVE this series , Thank you guys so much for doing this !!
I've really enjoyed this series. It's been an excellent inspiration and resource to systematize my practice. Keep up the good work.
Solid series, I really enjoy it.

Y'all be shooting in the most peaceful looking place ever.
Thank you for these drills! I'll be running them at my range soon as practice!
Great videos, Chris and John, really enjoying these! Gabe
Thanks, Gabe!
Honored dude.

I love seeing you shoot that revolver!
Today on The Beard Club...
Thanks for another entertaining and educational video.

Keep these outstanding videos coming!
Nice drill. I'm adding it to my list. Thanks!

Love this channel, thanks
I have a 5 shot j frame-642 sw I need to make it 5 shots by 5 by 7 and by 8
Thank you
mr lucky my buddy which 357 self defense ammo is really like 357 effective not like a 38 special plus p and is clean and with ok recoil? thank you
Where would a person go to be able to print out something as big as that target?
You can print it on an 8.5x11 sheet of printer paper. There's a PDF link in the video description.
Lucky Gunner Ammo I'm sorry, I meant to post this on the Casino drill video
Would the time be the same on the revolver super test if I'm running a 5-shot revolver or how would it vary?

Lucky Gunner Ammo Thanks a lot for the link I appreciate it.
How do they score line breaks? Do you round up or do? Heard different answers.

What type of range ammo do you recommend for .40 S&W.
Maccabee Luke 22:36 I very rarely do anything with 40S&W, but for range work, any factory new brass cased ammo should be fine.
Thanks.
A super dooper pooper scooper test would have the target fire back at you if you’re inaccurate or too slow.
Is there a version for a small 5 shot revolver? I carry a Ruger LCR 38+P a lot and would like to run it.
Yes! The Snubby Super Test: www.activeresponsetraining.net/hardwired-tactical-snubby-super-test
Outstanding! Thank you!

Isn't this langdon's drill?
Jayesh Patel He shoots it a lot but he didn't come up with it. He did recently come up with a variation of the Super Test with much tighter time limits.
How do you do this when literally every range yells at you for firing more than one shot per second?
NotQuiteEpic Dunno what to tell you. Last time I was stuck being a member of a range like that, I just shot fast anyway... Tried to go when no one else would be there and made sure all my rounds stayed on paper (and not the target stands or launched over the berm). Nobody ever said anything... YMMV.

How about 3 yards, 3 seconds, 3 rounds from concealment.
Sure, if you want to. Or you could do 5 yards, 5 rounds, 5 seconds, on a 5-inch circle: ruclips.net/video/BCRkcse4WY0/видео.html
Chris, man you looked tired on this video. We love the work you do, but don't wear yourself out for our sake!
Really? I was a lot less tired in this one than in the previous episodes we filmed because it wasn't bloody 93 degrees outside with 89% humidity.
Ya, try doing this at an indoor range and watch the RSO scream at you!
I know it’s old but you two look so cumbersome with appendix. Both guns are way too big for that
Please, no more beards! We are in the USA, we are not trying to look like the local Stan inhabitant.
Revolver fails

You only do 360 degree checks?! I do 1080 degree checks...
Since when is marksmanship not an important component of defensive shooting?
You mean you don't spin yourself around continuously like a rotating antenna? Dat'll gitcha kilt in da streets
If you can't hit what you're aiming at, then all the 360 checks in the world won't save you.
