I was pretty ill when I recorded this, you can see my cheeks getting redder as the video goes on lol. Anyway, hope you're all enjoying the holidays! If you're not then be sure to cast Bardic Inspiration on yourselves and play some video games to cheer up a bit. Thanks for watching as always and I'll see you in a few days. Cheers, Joe 💚
But but.. i am attracted to your cheeks, i thought that always your charm.. and that hat what's not to love.. to be honest i have to watch twice because i always watching you instead the gameplay 😂. Nice strategy
During the gnoll fight outside the cave, you say you’re getting lucky- while luck is always a factor, of course, I just wanted to reassure you (from the perspective of someone who has played this game a lot and also watched quite a few playthroughs) that you’re not JUST getting lucky, you’re getting better at using your characters in combat, and quickly!
@@greenmanjoe1 You can respec any character by talking to Withers at your camp (and paying 100 gold). You can do anything from changing the class features you chose (like changing Astarion's subclass from Arcane Trickster to Assassin, or whatever) to changing your class entirely (like turning Lae'zel from a Fighter to a Paladin, for example). The one character I always respec is Shadowheart. By default, she is a cleric with the Trickery domain, which doesn't make a lot of sense, but she is badass if you give her the Tempest domain insteead.
Expeditious Retreat is not really useful on Astarion. As Rogue he got Cunning Action at level 2, which allows him to dash, disengage and stealth as a bonus action already. Also it is strength/Athletics that determine how far you can jump, The level 1 Enhance Leap spell also tripples the jump distance, is a ritual spell (so does not cost spell slots outside of combat). And Laezel can cast it once per long rest too. Also do not say goodbye to Shadowheart yet. When you reach level 5 and get Fireball on Gale and Spiritual Guardian on Shadowheart, I have a feeling they will quickly find their way back into your good graces.
"There are so many sausages" 😆 It's a meme at this point that Act 1 has lots of sausages. I've never actually seen that interaction where you made the gnolls laugh and I've played through the game 3 times! Including one as a Bard! The gnoll and paladin fights are some of the hardest in Act 1, so I think you're doing great so far. I love Raphael. He chews up the scenery every time he's on screen.
You didn't pay attention leveling up Astarion and picked a magic specific subclass at lvl 3, while sounding reluctant of using him as caster. It looks like the subclass you were going for is Assasin instead. Get him to talk to Withers and respec him.
Heh, your reaction to finding the necklace with the Guidance cantrip is hilarious. "Bye, Shadowheart!" (It's a fantastic necklace, especially early in the game when you don't have a lot of other skill bonuses.) And Guidance really is one of the best spells in the game! Poor Shadowheart is just memetically bad at hitting things in combat. The good news is that Patch 8 is supposed to add in the Toll the Dead cantrip, which is pretty much superior to Sacred Flame in almost every way. (Sacred Flame requires a DEX save, and a _lot_ of the enemies you encounter early in the game have relatively high DEX scores. Toll the Dead, meanwhile, has a WIS save instead, and enemies generally have lower WIS scores than DEX scores, and does extra damage to targets that have already taken damage.)
@@evenmoor Nah, Shadowheart (and clerics in general) are OP, the issue is that her default stats and domain suck. You should respec her as soon as Withers joins the camp, the difference is night and day.
Glad that you're planning on switching out the companions regularly! They're all so worth getting to know. Also really love seeing the little bits of conversation and banter between them. Merry Christmas and rest well!
When you have a chance, you should stand on the grey outcrop behind Astarion's tent in the (outdoor) camp. A cool easter egg happens and it can only be done during Act I.
It can be done in other camp sites! I’ve found a couple in other camps, there’s a small spot on the edge of the mountain you can stand on in the camp you are forced to rest at before act 3 begins (the one where you find the truth about you know who with the monks) I feel like I’ve found other ones where the song plays in other camps but I can’t recall.
Yeah more often than not, they'll have a resistance as apposed to a weakness. So the question is more "What *won't* work against this" as apposed to what'll work best.
@@zedbee2736everything strong is resistant to fire. Goblins light up like candles but that's about it. Ice, Psychic, and Radiant damage will get you through most fights. Force is by far the best.
Merry Xmas and another good episode. I especially liked the fashion show of hats throughout the session. You're doing well and learning fast. Dont be afraid to respec if you find characters developing not as you had envisioned. Don't worry about the cost. Withers is happy, or at least non reactive, for you to take back the gold should you find yourself short. Also consumables can be difference between a difficult fight and an impossible one. Items like potion of speed (quite easy to acquire or make) can be gamechangers.
I've never seen the "birth" of the gnoll before cos I always kill the hyena mid-split. I am usually a druid too so use the spiky carpet a lot here. Also, I keep saying this but seriously get MAGIC MISSILE for Gale!!! You can use the tadpole to turn Flind to your side and she will help you kill the other gnolls, after that you can make her eat herself! Is it just me or has Rugan's voice changed? Anyone else remember him being broad Yorkshire? Ah Raphael, if you keep him in the game till Act 3 there is a real treat in store lol. Happy Solstice xxx
Yay, Christmas Joey - and with loads of Xmas hats too! I love watching your videos, I see loads of things I've never seen before because I know the game too well by now. Hope you're feeling better, Joe, and had a great Christmas! Raphael is an awesome NPC - his VA, Andrew Wincott, won a BAFTA for his performance. I look forward to seeing your future encounters with him 😈
Merry Christmas Joe! I LOVED the presentation of Raphael the first time I saw it, gave me goosebumps I tell you that, its incredible how well written is every single character of this game, and you're just seeing the tip of the iceberg! For me this game became the best rpg of all time, the ambition, the massive map full of interactions everywhere, all the options you have in gameplay, decisions, etc. and the attention to detail has no limits. Can't wait to see you continue this journey, its so good to see somebody taking his time to dive into the lore and mechanics like you do (even if you make little mistakes, it is normal due to the tons of information you get every minute, but you're doing great) hope you don't get overloaded and enjoy the game until the end, we'll be here to support you and give you more tips if you need it (no spoilers of course), big hugs from Spain, keep it up and stay healthy!! (Sorry if my way of writting is a little bit weird,😅 obviously spanish is my native languaje)
Merry Christmas Joe, and everyone else here too, I hope we've all gotten satisfactory gifts Also, been loving this pkaythrough of baldur's gate 3, it literally appeared as soon as I've been craving D&D content more and more, I'm even attempting to join an online campaign 😭 but I digress, this has been an amazing playthrough so far and I can't wait to see what happens in the future
HELPFUL TIP (NO SPOILERS HERE): If you go to your map, there should be the names of places you've been to that correspond with swirls on your map. Click one of those places and you will teleport to that spot. This cannot be used in battle but can help if your characters are ever stuck.
Merry Christmas & get well soon! A little non-spoiler lore on Devils in D&D: They're all Lawful Evil, meaning they use contracts and strict hierarchy. Demons are on the opposite end, Chaotic Evil. At least to me it was important learning the big distinction :)
This is trippy seeing a bard romancing Gale for their first run, that’s exactly what I did my first run… never thought I’d romance Gale but he had me obsessed the moment I saw him, I played a Dragonborn lore bard tho.
Very happy christmas to you Joe! Hope you feel better soon! We've all gotten Asty stuck in that spot, it's like a rite of passage. Jumping is based on strength, and Asty doesn't have much. You can use things to increase his strength, or cast things that increase jump distance, or just do what I do and teleport to one of the waypoints on the map. Hideous Laughter is great, but hitting them breaks the spell. So focus your fight on anyone who resisted it first. On the right hand side of your screen, if you click on that little icon, it will show you everything that's going on. So if you miss any conversation with your crew, you can read it there. You can also see a breakdown off all your rolls in fights. With the speak with dead, they won't talk to you if you're the one who ended them. But you can use disguise sell (or that helmet that does it) to change into someone else, and then you can talk to them!
There are a lot of outcomes from using your ilithid power on the gnolls, the most effective one is probably convincing the leader to eat the other gnolls and then herself.
23:26 This scene is harder to watch, when you already know a part of Wylls story... But we will learn it soon. 😉 38:10 "You beauty Lae'zel" 😂🤣😂🤣😂 45:55 Joe, you are collecting lots of ROTTEN food. That could poisen your adventures, if you eat it by accident. 47:52 This is the moment we should talk about ritual magic! Wizards and Warlocks with the path of the book (I think) can use ritual magic when they are not in a fight and have a spell that is marked with a small green pentagram. There are few ritual spells, but they help exploring. Jumping is a ritual spell and would have solved this issue. Reeding thoughts is another very usable ritual spell. You can do ritual magic as often as you want as long as you are not in a fight. No limits. 48:28 There is my FAVORITE CHARACTER in BG3. I love Raphael more than I love my own characters!!!!!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 50:32 "Good Lord" is the perfect adressation for Raphael I would say. 😁
Something that i'm not sure has been mentioned yet is that if you're ever curious about what a highlighted word means, like the "Momentum" or "Mad" that the items after the Gnoll fight had, you can just press T and hover over the keyword to see exactly what it means. In this case, "Momentum" on the Speedy Reply means a creature with this condition have 1.5m extra movement per stack of Momentum and the Speedy Reply gives you 2 stacks per hit you make with the weapon. So Joey could have a semi-permanent increase to his speed with this rapier c:
Merry Christmas, to everyone who celebrates today!!! I celebrate Christmas on January 7th, so today is an ordinary day for me, but a good one)) I passed my exam
About to watch it, just want to say.... I'm hooked dude. I got excited to see a new vid up. Doesn't happen often for me. Just wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation. Hope you're rewarded for your efforts! Edit: The magically changing hats - I love it!
Hi Joe! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you, too! I loved the episode, as always. That first Raphael encounter is always so shocking. Thank you so much for uploading even during these busy days, and I hope you don't stay sick for long
At 6:15 you casted Shield of Faith level 2, but the spell does not benefit for being higher level - - it says that at the bottom. You wasted a level two slot . Sorry for bad english. Also, jump is based on Strength, More Strength, more Jumping Distance.
Couple helpful tips. You lost expeditious retreat cause it requires concentration to maintain, everytime you take damage it has a chance yo break your concentration. Aside from this the best way to abuse sneak attack is to gang on the enemy, if an enemy is surrounded by two or more of you allies you automatically have advantage against them.
To specify, it doesn't give you advantage, it simply allows you to use sneak attack (because you can trigger it either by having advantage or when an enemy is engaged by an ally and you don't have disadvantage), but it doesn't give you extra chance to hit the way having advantage would. Flanking rules (having advantage by surrounding enemies) is an optional rule in 5e and was not implemented in BG3.
Karalch + throwing stuff with the subclass that you chose is one of the strongest builds in the game, especially with some extra items/feats/potentially 2 levels into fighter for action surge (or three levels into rogue for thief)
Merry Christmas 🎉 The best attack spells for a wizard are usually evocation spells, especially large area of attack spells. If you change Gale into an evocation wizard, he won't hurt his friends even if they are in the area of effect of an evocation spell. So you won't have to move them out of the way of spells. Withers can change it for some coin. I highly recommend it. You can also change Astarion into an Assassin which is an attack based rouge instead of a caster type rouge. Also, DON'T KILL MINTHARA! Just knock her out.
Merry Christmas! You're getting the hang of it, and the game gets more fun the more you learn the ropes. You can see your companions' approval of you on their character sheets - or examine them.
Immediately after finding the guidance necklace: "We never need Shadowheart again. Bye Shadowheart" XD that was hilarious, poor Shadowheart though + Merry Christmas
I LOL'd too, bc it was my reaction after finding that necklace. She's really useful later on once she reaches level 5, but early Shadowheart is very weak tbh, even if you fix her stats.
Just caught up on your BG3 run. Enjoying it so far! Love your enjoyment of the game. Bard is definitely one of my fave classes, after Sorcerer and Paladin. Swords Bard is one of the most OP classes, especially if you go the Archery route. And loving your romance choices, I too am a Gale boi, but Lae'zel is my favorite female romance. My gay heart is begging for Gale, buuuut Bae'zel has suuuuuuch a good romance. I think you'll be completely satisfied with either! I'm gonna try to keep any suggestions to myself, I always get the urge to help people but feel like I'm just backseating.
Awesome playthrough so far! You seem to be super invested in the world and characters, which for me are the aspects in which this game shines. Both feel so real, so full, and so compelling. Love your mistakes and decision-making! Don't be afraid to make a mistake and keep it, but equally don't be afraid to make a mistake and reload if you're passionate! This is your story to write, so do so how you want bb! (Oh, happy holidays! Hope they were filled with love, joy, and laughter!!
About dual wielding. There are two types of melee one hand weapons in bg3: light and versatile. 1. Everyone can dual wielding light weapons, like two daggers. But, offhand will deal small dmg, like 1-4. 2. To make offhand deal full weapong dmg you need to get fighting style - two weapons. Fighters have to choose it at lvl 1. Since you met lae'zel at lvl 1, she already has chosen fighting style and it is for her - two handed weapons. So she will be always deal more dmg with two hand swords, just keep in mind. 3. To use two versatile weapons, for example two mage staffs for Gale at same time, it can be choosen at lvl 4. So make your choice wisely.
Rangers also get a fighting style. Gloom Stalker multi-class is generally the best choice for rogues anyway. 3 levels rogue, 4 levels ranger, 5 levels fighter. Astarion becomes one of your hardest hitters.
About enemy weakness to damage: it's all listed under "resistances", the icons are fairly similar, so you might want to hover and read what they mean, but any vulnerabilities will be there as well. If it says "none", then it means they have no resistances, immunities or vulnerabilities.
Raphael has a few trigger points to guarantee you'll meet him before you get too far into Act 1, but the top of the hill is a fairly random one. As you've discovered, not everyone jumps the same, and characters can get left behind, so it's always a good idea if you're using jumps to get around to make sure everyone got across, and if needs be there's a button at the bottom of the party portraits to quickly ungroup and group the party which can be useful when doing tricky navigation, as if grouped everyone tries to follow the selected character.
46:45 Jump distances of your companions depend on their STRength attribute modifiers and other modifiers like _Athletics_ skill and the general movement rate of the race. You can increase the individual jumping distance by maxing out the STR attribute of that particular companion of course but if you just need a temporarily solution you can • drink a potion of STRength • learn and use the Spell _Enhanced Leap_ (triples the jumping distance) • use of the spell (or potion) _Featherfall_ allows to jump down from great heights without taking fall damage. The spell version usually affects the whole party. These spells and potions last 10 turns, so better switch to turn-based before the magic wears off
Merry Christmas and thank you for another fun episode. Well done beating those gnolls! Raphael can spawn at several different points in Act One, it all depends where you happen to be. Hope you feel much better soon!
If you kept Gale as an Evoker, then don't worry about companions being within his area effects, evokers have a special ability with which area effect damage spells do not affect allies. So during that first gnoll fight, shadowheart did not really need to get away from that Burning Hands spell! (the second one is always a tough one. Went really well here though- I had never seen this tactic on the tadpoled gnoll before though. Was fun to watch!)
Fun fact, this is one of the rare years that the Jewish festival "Hanukkah" has also occurred on Christmas Day. A few days ago, Pagans celebrated "Yule", the Winter Solstice.
Loving this playthrough so much! Also, camp supplies are plenty. In the word and in vendor shops. Feel free to full rest. Also, shadowheart is mainly magic focused, but unlike some casters, she can wear armor. Take advantage of that.
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! Raphael, I'll spoil you this: he can appear at various different places. He was not triggered by you climbing up any specific ladder. I don't know what is the actual trigger for his appearance though. That outcrop in the caves where you got stuck and from which you teleportated after a frustrating hour -- hmmm, teleportation is an option I never thought of! With a bit of good positioning and use of your environment you can jump out. But -- -- potentially a spoiler below -- I used the boxes there. I moved them around until they were at one of the edges, then jumped on top of the boxes, and the extra height gave me the advantage needed to jump a bit of extra distance. Also, usually I split the group before going to a place like that and then I have to get only one character back. Hopefully one of my good jumpers but sometimes Astarian if I need the extra skills at lockpicking.
Couple of non-spoiler minor hints. Try looking at combat log, esp if you are wondering 'what just happened' with new enemy abilities. Also, unless you built Gale a specific way (which you haven't), you should stay away from hitting things in melee. A damaging cantrip like firebolt does more damage and hits more reliably than attacking with a basic staff
There's three or four places where Raphael will appear after a certain point. One's up there, one's in the grove, and another on a bridge. There may be others I don't remember. The game just wants to make sure you don't miss him.
Thanks again for the awesome video! Finding this playthrough is helping me through Covid :) You’re doing really well and it’s truly awesome to see you taking your time with getting acquainted with your surroundings! Also, I might be slightly biased, but awesome to see you trying out Astarion! With the right build, those critical sneak attacks are lethal, in the best way! Merry Christmas, hope you feel better soon!
for the class that has weakness in strength they can't jump far/high, you actually can disgroup them and control the weak one to jump with jumping potion/flying potion/flying spell/flying scroll
Starting fights with an advantage is big. Sometimes communication isn’t worth starting at a disadvantage Also, shadow heart is a healer who’s best with Area of Effect attacks and her summoning weapons
The spells are many and complicated but they do a lot of damage and can disable opponents. Dissonant whisper and Tasha's Hideous Laughter are great spells and Joey can use both spells.
I'm enjoying your playthrough. It's different from mine & dialogue choices are different. That's why I like this game so much - it turns out differently for every one. And it's not only the choices you make along the way, but the way the DIE rolls (sigh - that can be an Ouch, indeed). I got stuck on that same wooden platform in the cave, since can't jump as far uphill as downhill (sigh). It took me a long rest & heading to a wayshrine to et everyone together (as you see, I tried several things, but didn't think of the wayshrine till the next day (it WAS rather late when I go stuck - plol). Of course, I'm not the best tactician, nor a very patient one, being a beginner at it, so your choice of the higher level play is kinda awesome to me.As far as inventory goes, I tend to send to-be-sold items to my party by categories, as well as weight: all clothes, art & books to be sold to Gale, heavy weapons & pots to the fighters, throwing items to Astarian (hi dex) & then do a general scatter to balance the party's weight limits & hit the trader when it gets unwieldy. But it's just the way I decided to divide them - by their 'interests' You might have a different way of thinking. btw - someone should have the Longstrider spell/skill (?) (I gave it to Astarion, since I use the spellcaster class of rogue for him & since he's the best lockbreaker I keep him around) - whoever has it can cast it on every party member & give all members a movement boost that lasts all day & is not a Concentration spell (I try to avoid concentration spells, or at least have good non-concentration spells in case it gets broken. I'm a bit chicken about that - lol)
Omg the hats! Brilliant. I hope you have a wardrobe full of amazing themed hats we'll get to see in future episodes yes...? 🤣 Great video as always, I love how much fun you are having and your improvements in each episode. Well done! Absolutely loving this series, keep being you and having fun! Hope you feel better soon!
I'm still early in the first fight, so idk what you've done since, and I get that we're getting this with a delay, but I'm gonna say this anyway: 1) consider respeccing Shadowheart in camp. Keep her as a cleric ofc, clerics are amazing, just slightly redistribute her stats so she has a better chance of landing attacks, especially spell attacks. 2) next time you level-up your MC, consider switching out some of his spells. I know you wanted a damage spell on him way back before you had Gale for landing proper damage spells, but Cloud of Daggers is honestly not the best use of your 2nd level spell slots AND concentration (as you can only concentrate on one spell that requires concentration at a time). Remember, bards are "support" characters: they shine at buffing allies and debuffing enemies. A better spell at the same spell level imo for Joey would be either Hold Person (that thing the mage cast on Karlach that made the false paladin land crits) or Heat Metal. 3) I know there's a lot of them, but try to read through some of the spells your MC can choose when you get the chance. At the beginning, before you've got a grip on what the game mechanics do, many of their descriptions don't mean that much to you, but once you understand what something like Advantage gives you, you'll be able to tell at a glance if a spell is good or not. Right, that's enough unsolicited advice for now, on with the playthrough.
There is a really good weapon for Karlach in the Goblin camp. just generally take your time with the grove and the camp to see what you can find or buy. And just among us, Astarion is a beast when it comes to dmg but i would prefer any other subclass, but bard and rogue are maybe a bit to much alike for a balanced group. It is also a good idea to respec every single character just because the weird numbers they have in their character sheed, just because the game wants them to be incompetent. And i´m sure you will learn to love Astarion in no time, he is just so cute... 😍
Thank you for your content during the coldest days. I will absolutely love and watch it even if i dont have time right now. But i can like and comment it representative instead, cya later darling. Your playthrough is so lovely. ❤❤❤
Shadowheart may seem weak now, but later on shes going to get some spells that will make her invaluable during a fight, specially when you are dealing with the undead.
@@artsveiman7776 She is not weak at all, the problem is that her default settings are messed up; her secondary skills are foolishly split between dex and str (odd values at that) so she is bad at hitting things and doesnt deal a lot of damage, plus she has low int so even her racial cantrip miss half the time. To make things even worse, she has the weakest cleric domain. You should respec her as soon as you unlock Withers, fix her attributes and change her domain, once you do that she becomes a damn tank that deals massive AOE and is great at healing. More so if you give her the tiara from the enlightened ogre and dump all int attributes to con.
thanks for the video! btw i like your hats, didn't notice moments when you changed them xD finally we met Raphael, yeeeah!!! waiting for another video, merry christmas!
Raphael would have appeared at some point in the game, regardless of where you are. on my first playthrough he appeared while I was crossing a bridge, on my second playthrough while I was in the grove.
@@artsveiman7776 He appears at specific places, but only after you attempt to remove the tadpole for the first time (Nettie, Volo, the hag, the goblin shaman, etc). I usually meet him at the harper outlook outside the grove, but I also found him after unlocking the way to the underdark under the goblin camp. One of these days im going to try to avoid him on purpose just to see what happens.
I can see you start getting better and understanding more. I think since you pick a wrong subclass for astarion, wouldnt it better to respect all of your character for better experience? Oh and btw, happy holiday and happy xmas for you, hope the Joy fills your Joey to the fullest
You leveled up astarion too fast, choosing his worst subclass. You probably didn't noticed because the game choose it automatically, but at lvl 3 you have 3 subclsaaes for rogue, I advise you to choose "thief" it gives you fall damage resistance and EXTRA BONUS ACTION
@@greenmanjoe1yep, it was in the level 3 options on the left. I go with assassin because crits are fun. You can redo it if you speak to Withers at camp, it costs 200 gold tho
The assassin type is also pretty sweet. But I enjoyed him as Divine Trickster on my first run. I don't think there's any right or wrong way to level up your characters in this game. Although there are some very op combos. In my opinion; just have fun. Choose what you feel is logical for your story or playing style. In my current run I'm a gnome monk, standing on crates to flirt with Astarion😅 (..He WILL learn to love me..😅)
@@greenmanjoe1 It's worth noting that you can pickpocket your gold back from Withers really easily and he doesn't mind. It's not like he needs the money - it's just part of the "cosmic balance" thing he has going, so he can't fix everything for free. I usually get Astarion to pickpocket him since he has excellent Sleight of Hand.
You kinda ran through Asterion's level up, did you take a look at the subclasses? Do your thing, but I think you are getting a lot of casters in and he might be better at the other two. If you ever feel like your jumping is short, bard should have access to the Enhanced Leap ritual spell. Raphael's welcome is somewhere perfectly between scary and inviting. :D
Joe, while literally in one of the hells for the second time and talking to a devil: "Good Lord..." Sorry, I don't think you've got good reception for a call upstairs down there.
I don't think it's that obvious that the House of Hope is located in the Nine Hells. It looks and feels very different from the Avernus exterior/battlefield, which has been Joey's only direct experience with the Hells so far. Raphael certainly makes no mention of it, and the name itself wouldn't suggest it. The colour scheme and general décor of the place are another matter, admittedly...
@slavecek I do think Raphael himself gives it away when he drops his façade. Considering the only place we've seen beings like him was... well, in hell. Though I will be more careful going forward, thanks for bringing that blunder to my attention.

@@TEEETHING I genuinely cannot believe I missed that. I didn’t even see that option 😭
Good thing you can respec.
@@greenmanjoe1 i def made the same mistake too the first time haha :')
same!!
Man, I *_NEVER_* get tired of Raphael. Dude knows how to make an entrance, hahah.
The random rotation of hats throughout the video is making me laugh way too much 😂
Expeditious Retreat is not really useful on Astarion.

Omg you uploaded today yay!! Christmas is tough for me and this made it immediately better. You swapping out the hats had me laughing so hard 🤣

Jumping is strength based. Which is why Astarion can’t
Yeah, it's nice! But I couldn't get it trigger in some of my coops, sadly.
Gnolls are not weak to fire. If enemies are weak to any specific damage it will show up when you examine them. But plenty of enemies don't have any.
Yeah on the respecing, the thing I always do is to respec Shadowheart as a War Domain cleric instead of a Trickery Domain.
Raphael is such a handsome devil! He plays hard to get, but he's absolutely worth it.
Just ask his current boyfriend.
@@FallstarFL This made me chuckle so much I want to play the game again to relive "that" moment lol xxx
Merry Christmas Joe, and everyone else here too, I hope we've all gotten satisfactory gifts
Also, been loving this pkaythrough of baldur's gate 3, it literally appeared as soon as I've been craving D&D content more and more, I'm even attempting to join an online campaign 😭 but I digress, this has been an amazing playthrough so far and I can't wait to see what happens in the future
38:10 "You beauty Lae'zel" 😂🤣😂🤣😂
45:55 Joe, you are collecting lots of ROTTEN food.
50:32 "Good Lord" is the perfect adressation for Raphael I would say.
Three hat reveals?! It's a Christmas miracle! 🥳
Hat looks cute on you Happy Holidays!
Merry Christmas 🎉
The best attack spells for a wizard are usually evocation spells, especially large area of attack spells.
Bye Shadowheart" XD that was hilarious, poor Shadowheart though
+ Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas! Excited to watch another part of this great playthrough!
You can also dual wielding ranged weapons like handcrossbows.
I just love the Bard so much :'D Honestly great choice, not just for making Gnolls laugh.
Merry christmas and best wishes to your health!
16:25 About that "speak with dead" spell....
ruclips.net/video/kXJo4PoMQRM/видео.html
46:45 Jump distances of your companions depend on their STRength attribute modifiers and other modifiers like _Athletics_ skill and the general movement rate of the race.
You can increase the individual jumping distance by maxing out the STR attribute of that particular companion of course but if you just need a temporarily solution you can
• drink a potion of STRength
• learn and use the Spell _Enhanced Leap_ (triples the jumping distance)
• use of the spell (or potion) _Featherfall_ allows to jump down from great heights without taking fall damage. The spell version usually affects the whole party.
These spells and potions last 10 turns, so better switch to turn-based before the magic wears off
I think making use of the hide mechanic and opening a fight with a surprise attack would make combat a bit easier for you
Merry Christmas and thank you for another fun episode.
Merry Christmas everyone! Its balding time
Fun fact, this is one of the rare years that the Jewish festival "Hanukkah" has also occurred on Christmas Day. A few days ago, Pagans celebrated "Yule", the Winter Solstice.
One tip. If you get stuck and Astarion or anyone can't jump, try to find scrolls of flying or misty step. 😊 Or a potion that gives them bigger jumps.
Merry Christmas Joe, hope u recover soon :)
But --
-- potentially a spoiler below --
I used the boxes there.
Finally finds the most important necklace in the game. "Oh we don't need Shadowheart anymore". LOL. Meanwhile Shadowheart trivialises all of Act 2 .
Merry Christmas Joey! So fun an chaotic part xD. Don worry, everbody been there, with stuck companions, deleted by paladins....etc hahaha
im early yaay :D hope your doing better now joe - merry christmas
Couple of non-spoiler minor hints. Try looking at combat log, esp if you are wondering 'what just happened' with new enemy abilities.
Also, unless you built Gale a specific way (which you haven't), you should stay away from hitting things in melee. A damaging cantrip like firebolt does more damage and hits more reliably than attacking with a basic staff
There's three or four places where Raphael will appear after a certain point. One's up there, one's in the grove, and another on a bridge. There may be others I don't remember. The game just wants to make sure you don't miss him.
Thanks again for the awesome video! Finding this playthrough is helping me through Covid :)
You’re doing really well and it’s truly awesome to see you taking your time with getting acquainted with your surroundings!
Also, I might be slightly biased, but awesome to see you trying out Astarion! With the right build, those critical sneak attacks are lethal, in the best way!
Merry Christmas, hope you feel better soon!
merry christmas joe!
Rugan and Olly aren't much help in the fight against the gnolls. They're more likely to die. Olly has only 15 health
for the class that has weakness in strength they can't jump far/high, you actually can disgroup them and control the weak one to jump with jumping potion/flying potion/flying spell/flying scroll
What a nice holiday treat! Thanks for powering through although you’re sick. Happy holidays!
Starting fights with an advantage is big. Sometimes communication isn’t worth starting at a disadvantage
Also, shadow heart is a healer who’s best with Area of Effect attacks and her summoning weapons
Merry Christmas! Hope you're feeling better 🤗 Really impressed with how you handled the gnolls - they're difficult at level 3
Happy Christmas! I loved the way you switched hats during the episode. I hope you are feeling better.
I'm a bit chicken about that - lol)
some spells require to think about them. when they get Hit they get distracted(lost concentration) the Con. skill helps
I do own a ridiculous amount of hats but they’re not all Christmas themed. Glad ur enjoying the playthrough!
Merry Christmas! I hope you feel better soon. Thank you for blessing us with this content. 💙
I'm still early in the first fight, so idk what you've done since, and I get that we're getting this with a delay, but I'm gonna say this anyway:
1) consider respeccing Shadowheart in camp.
Merry Christmas!
The hat change caught me OFF GUARD lmao 😅 happy belated Christmas! Loving the playthrough as always :)
You can throw the spider egg and it will spawn little spiders that will aid you in a fight so use it wisely
Thank you for your content during the coldest days. I will absolutely love and watch it even if i dont have time right now. But i can like and comment it representative instead, cya later darling. Your playthrough is so lovely. ❤❤❤

Love the many Christmas hats!! ❤
Hope you’re feeling better Joe and Merry Christmas. Loved your hats and another great stream. ❤
Merry Christmas bro. Love the BG3 videos
enjoyed the video, hope you recover alright and have a good holiday.
Merry Christmas Joe. I hope you had a good one and wish you the best for the new year!
thanks for the video! btw i like your hats, didn't notice moments when you changed them xD
finally we met Raphael, yeeeah!!! waiting for another video, merry christmas!

Hope you had a good Christmas. I like the way gou play 😊
MERRY CHRISTMAS, this was the best present ever
Yay! Feel better soon
It's ok Joe, some holes it takes me an hour to get out of too :)
One of these days im going to try to avoid him on purpose just to see what happens.
yayy merry christmas
I can see you start getting better and understanding more. I think since you pick a wrong subclass for astarion, wouldnt it better to respect all of your character for better experience?
Oh and btw, happy holiday and happy xmas for you, hope the Joy fills your Joey to the fullest
You leveled up astarion too fast, choosing his worst subclass. You probably didn't noticed because the game choose it automatically, but at lvl 3 you have 3 subclsaaes for rogue, I advise you to choose "thief" it gives you fall damage resistance and EXTRA BONUS ACTION
@@antoninofrisella4906 Did I even have the option to choose his subclass?
@@greenmanjoe1yep, it was in the level 3 options on the left. I go with assassin because crits are fun. You can redo it if you speak to Withers at camp, it costs 200 gold tho
@@HarukaLPs Damn I didn’t know I could choose that. I only saw the spells and cantrips.
What’s better than I Joey you don’t know? Why… a Joey you do! Another upload?! PRAISE THE ABSOLUTE
oh yeah.. Raphael.. The devil you will know well enough soon 😏
Joe, while literally in one of the hells for the second time and talking to a devil: "Good Lord..."
Sorry, I don't think you've got good reception for a call upstairs down there.
