THIS R2 UNIT HAS A BAD MOTIVATOR!
Just got this pedal as a gift from my wife for my birthday. I can throw away about 12 pedals now. Good God this thing was worth every dime she spent!
Ironically, I got this pedal as a gift the day this video came out, lol---fantastic demo!! Really love this pedal both for Gilmour tones and for its versatility---so much fun in this little machine---great job Keeley!!
FINALLY acquired this workstation 😎👍
The filters in this pedal are incredible 😃
Keeley have the secret sauces flowing in this thing, and I like it😁😎👍
😎✌👍❤🖖
Darkside is still on my to get list😎👍
Saves real estate on the pedalboard 😎👍
Great video 😎👍
😎👍❤🖖
Love brother
Very cool demo. Very versatile pedal
I'm altering the delay, pray I don't add a flanger...
If that is your destiny…
I love mine , one of the most versatile pedals I've ever used
It’s the ship that made the Keeley run in less than twelve parsecs.
For the win
Love it! ;-)
Rocks hard enough for you, old man
Great demo Jack, don't get cocky
Best one yet!
Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them. (Plays rockabilly on the Dark Side!)
I LOVE mine!!❤❤❤
(and I’m primarily a “Keyboard guy” 😉)
I ‘make noise’ on a Guitar…..
(I’m a Recording Engineer….’TONE CHASER’)😉
this pedal is like having 4 pedals IN ONE!!$$$
KEELEY ROCKS!!!
Hey bro....do a review on the Mesa Fillmore
Hi Jack, great video! I just wanted to ask you if you bought your Andrew Robertson pickups online.
Thanks! He has a Facebook page, thats where he does business
Hey man. God bless. Does Gilmour use allot of overdrive or he is more associated with clean tones?
Both. He used clean, overdrive and fuzz as well as heaps of delay and modulation
Do you need an overdrive with this pedal for example the time solo?
I've lusted after this thing for years, the loomer as well. Is the Keeley magnetic delay the same as the delay in the darkside?
No they're different- the Mag Delay is more similar to the MXR Carbon Copy. The delay in the Darkside is more like the Catalinbread Echorec. Tonally, the delays are probably similar, but functionally different.
@@JackFossett ah ok I was thinking the mag was based off the Echorec as well. I thought Keeley made a standalone with the different head settings but Im probably confused lol.
There’s a Keeley Echoes pedal(not the newer Eccos), which was a limited run, and are pretty pricey used, that has the Echorec delay of the Dark Side that is more like a Catalinbread Echorec. I would recommend getting the Dark Side, because it has the Echorec delay snd the mods/Fuzz, or the latest version of the Alexander History Lesson, if you want excellent Echorec and Tape Delays, among others, with many shaping features.
I own a Dark Side V1, and the Alexander, which put my Catalinbread Echorec on the sidelines.
I just picked one up and found this great vid! Any idea where to drop it in a signal chain?
I place mine after my Compressor, clean boost, low gain drive, then before a MIB pedal (so I can run the Univibe/Phaser or Flanger in front of gain, mine is a V1), chorus, main delays, Tremolo, Reverb.
My V1 has an FX loop. I usually place a booster of some sort with decent EQ and maybe my Mooer Ensemble King Chorus, so I'd have Fuzz>Boost>Chorus>Binson Delay in one pedal.
If yours is a V2 it lacks the insert but the switch makes swapping the two sides order so easy.
Hope that helps
@@mattgilbert7347 thanks! I just put it after my lightspeed and ehx crayon, and before my ds-1. I think this is the spot! I kept my unicorn after the gain stage for options.
@@kennygame Perfect! Sounds like you have a really nice setup :) Lightspeed and Unicorn are so nice, the Crayon is similar to my favourite overdrive (Xotic AC Booster, I think the Crayon has more gain and more "Marshally" voicing, but similar) and I will never hear a bad word said about the humble DS-1!
What do you use for delay/reverb, may I ask? Just curious if you use the Binson delay in the dark side. I do, sometimes, but I got a separate Binson-type pedal, the Keeley "Echoes".
@@mattgilbert7347 Thanks. The dark side pedal was my first attempt at chasing the Gilmour sound. I use a Dunlop Echoplex. I love how it doesn't change the tone unless I go into more ambient tones. I play a Fender PRRI and the reverb is always on. But for more spacey stuff I use a Caline Old School Reverb. It's inexpensive and sounds great although if you go too far it can sound too digitally.
@@kennygame It was my first attempt as well. I have a Dunlop Echoplex as well!! :) It is one of the best imo.
Can you add a Princess and Wookie effect to my Dark Side?
I would pay a lot of money for a pedal that makes a Wookie growl every time I hit an E chord
@@JackFossett And a Princess sound every time you pinched a harmonic?
Haha awesome
Nice pedal, but I don't need one with all those functions. Like I've said before, my set-up is very simple. Btw, I have 4 new guitars on the way / being built for me right now. Looking forward to having them.
You need a Dark Side pedal for each of those four guitars Lord JS! ;-)
@@RobertKeeleyTV Not really.
Fuzzier than chubacha more versatile than C-3PO
Fluent in over 6 million forms of HIGH VOLTAGE ROCK N ROLL
You still own this?
I find your lack of sustain disturbing. oh wait, save that for the compressor video....
YOU SHALL NOT (hi)PASS(filter)!! wait… wrong universe…
Great pedal. Build quality terrible tho for a $300 pedal lol
I find your lack of fuzz disturbing. . . wheeze blow
These aren’t the tones you’re looking for.
I love this pedal and the demo! Just trying to add some Star Wars jokes!
Don’t worry, I know my Obi Wan quotes 😉
Это видео снято специально чтоб отбить желание покупать эту педальку...
BOF !!
Beatles suck…
The pedal is cool and all, but I want to hear comfortably numb soloing not endless noodling in the key of pinkfloyd 🤷🏻 if you can call it that. You got me though I watched the entire video.
