    0:59 he starts turning into Malcolm again! Years after he'd played the role! Did y'all see that?! How he didn't get the oscar for the performance of his life in 1992 is beyond any of us.

      Because of the importance of it and the message it would have sent. You couldn't have people actually listening to Malcolm all over again.. that's why they would rather award Denzel for playing a mere gangster. No disrespect at all to his talent, but it was definitely a thought out (perhaps politically biased) plan by the academy.

      Punu I was shocked that he was nominated in the first place even more that the movie was made by a major studio WARNER BROS.

      We learn about MLK in school and celebrate MLK day as a national holiday every year. Malcolm is the one the US wants to suppress, so that 3 hour movie was appropriate for him.

    • @nickandjoshlover1568

      On second thought if Spike made a movie that REALLY portrayed MLK instead of the fake BS they teach us in school, I’d be down with that.

      DemonX he was just doing a bit. I don’t think he actually meant to disrespect the man. Not that Malcolm X needs an endorsement from Washington. His legacy will live on for generations to come.

  • @truthspeaks84
    @truthspeaks84 5 лет назад +29

    Denzel mocks Malcolm X's legacy in this clip, plain as day. To be fair, it's difficult to channel another soul after a long hiatus, especially with any sort of clarity. But that misrepresentation of Malcolm X's deepest intentions was so far off the mark that it felt hurtful.
    By mocking Malcolm X's legacy, Denzel mocks his own legacy. Perhaps this clip illustrates just how strong and fearless Malcolm X was. Channeling Malcolm X's soul, outside of the iconic movie, was too heavy for Denzel to do for his own life.

    • @Tusc9969
      @Tusc9969 4 года назад +31

      Perhaps you're taking his BIT a little bit too seriously. He saw this white man nervously struggling to ask him a sensitive question on the topic and Denzel made a joke to make him and the audience laugh so it wouldn't turn into an awkward moment.

Mr. X had a way of showing you the variations and degrees, as well as Textures, That would otherwise be blind to the people of that time and era, No offense and No disrespect to you, but things were extremely different back then... Denzel analogy was right on...

    But he seemed foolish and stupid and knew nothing about Malcolm X's values and what he sacrificed for

  • @theopressedrising3773

    He himself is a black sellout, and one of the puppets brother Malcolm (may God have mercy on his soul) used to describe them. In the way he eventually mocks the role he played of Malcolm is a clear proof of that he was not getting the message at all. Like something(the white
    opressors)prevents him from saying what he really thought and laughs it off with mockery and jokes.

      Denzel Washington is an actor. Did you miss that part? He perfected his craft and I can respect that. Lighten up. Generations to come will learn more about Malcolm X from Denzel Washington's portrayal of him in that movie. And for that we can all be thankful.

    Malcolm X is hands down the best Denzel Washington movie. I've seen it a dozen times. 3 hours and I get sucked in believing he really is Malcolm every time and weep every time. How it didn't get Best Picture much less Best Actor is a crime. 🥹❤
