Nobody is gonna see this, but 1301 is now easy to convert to birdshead grip with the GG&G adapters (either Mossberg or Remington stock versions, though I hear the Remington adapter is slightly thinner/lower profile) and a Shockwave Raptor grip. The newest version 1301 Mod 2 is also straight out of the box optimized with “pro-loader” and new forend with mlok slots for a handstop, though for my short arms I needed a cantilever picatinny section to bring that mounting point closer.

Aridus (mossberg only), SJ hardware (remington only), and rowe tactical (mossberg and remington) also make stock adapters.
Aridus comes in polymer on their site, but Beretta themselves and some others have the CNC version. The Aridus polymer looks the best IMO. Other manufacturers have lines/curvatures that match either the magpul stock or the 1301, but the lines don't match up on the raptor grip. The Aridus polymer seems more of a universal fit. If the lines and shapes still don't line up, it's probably easier to sand down a bit since it's polymer.
Some people said mossberg doesn't work. Not sure if the bolt is just a bit too short due to the adapter. Bolt is a 5/16-18 (I think it's the coarse thread).

      @@GTari97 Thanks for the info!
Updated: As far as I can tell only the GG&G adapter and the updated polymer Aridus adapter have spring buffered bolt that replaces a similar part in the OEM stock.
Either way never heard of anybody having issues with non buffered adapters so they are all probably fine and as you said up to aesthetics. For me the buffer+lower cost ($65 vs $94) and I preferred metal part, swung me towards the GG&G adapter.

I bought a 12 gauge Mossberg 500 many years ago that came with a 27” long barrel, 18” short barrel, shoulder stock, pistol grip and heat shield. I put the short barrel on and bought the birds head grip from cheaper than dirt and basically have what the Black Aces is, except it isn’t auto, it’s a pump. The birds head grip doesn’t slap your palm like the pistol grip did. The pistol grip had very little angle to so it was close to 90 degrees from the receiver and would transmit the full energy right into your hand. The birds head grip is better than the pistol grip if recoil is an issue.

Thanks for your focus on this type of weapon. Good information.
Just one point I would make. If you spent a lot of time in the field --- not on a range, etc. --- you would eventually realize that though a tang safety is more convenient, it is rather easily disengaged but a crossbows safety won't be readily disengaged either inadvertently or by rough handling. It is very reliable.
I have used both and can tell you that the choice is between speed and convenience on one hand and the certainty of safety on the other.
I always opt for the latter if I have a choice.
Thanks again for your useful information.

Good video, clear and informative. Do you have weights on these three guns with the birdshead grips? The Remington is 5.94 pounds; the Black Ace 6.4 pounds but with a full stock and (I think) an 18 inch barrel; the Beretta 1301 I haven't found. I like the Remington for the extra gas ports and the low recoil and its small size; the safety placement is likely not an issue for me as I am unfamiliar with crossbolt safeties and shotguns in general. I want one strictly for bear & moose defense in deep bush.

You don’t mean “Versa max” if you’re talking about making a “TC” Remington setup: You would have to start with the Remington V3. The Versa Max has the spring in the stock like a Benelli, so you can’t do a birdshead Versa Max, but the V3’s have the dual springs in the receiver, which is why those were perfect for the TAC 13.

I have a hard time believing any 1301 would beat any V3. I’ve owned both and the V3 is far superior in recoil mitigation alone. The 1301 is horrible with recoil. I even put a Kick Off stock on mine and the V3 was way better. The gas system in the 1301 gets so dirty after about 500 rounds. And as for a fast gun? Maybe 5 people could handle that kind of speed. The rest of the world is just kidding themselves. Most people can’t even outrun a Stoeger shotgun and they are the slowest cycling shotguns on the planet. I’ll take a V3 over any other shotgun made. I even sold my M4 because the V3 has the same gas system. And you can find them for 7-1000 all day long. Parts are getting hard to find but now that Remington is back up and running, maybe we’ll see more parts for these fantastic guns. The 1301 is a fun gun to shoot as long as it’s target loads. Put in some slugs or buckshot and you’ll beat your shoulder up like a pump shotgun. Pick up a V3 and you wonder why you ever bought anything else.

You just called a Beretta 1301 a piece of junk. You're either ignorant to what Beretta makes, or you're a Remington fanboy. Either way please reevaluate

@@jim8123 I'm a fanboy of what works. I bought all three and after personally testing them I kept the Remington. It has the lowest recoil of the three and it shoots any load whether high or low power without any malfunction. Ignorant would apply to anybody who voted for Bozo Biden. Did I just describe you?

Who was talking about Biden? I was talking about how calling a 1301 a trash gun is a demonstrably false statement. Are you so insecure that you had to bring in politics?

LOL, you are an idiot to choose Remington over a 1301. 1301s are favored over m4s. Tell me about the current state of Remington again....
