I purchased and installed a recoil strap and finally was able to try it out with my Shockwave. The recoil strap worked flawlessly, and I was shooting slugs. The recoil was completely manageable. No discomfort at all. A friend of mine who has a Shockwave was cut on his hand by the slipping during recoil. This strap completely stops all slipping. There was a problem of managing recoil in the Shockwave and you have provided a solution. I highly recommend the recoil strap to anyone. Thank you.

This is an excellent video, for years people cried the ATF was being a bully and they wanted short barrel shotguns. Well now we can legally own them all I hear are haters saying it has no purpose, its just a range toy, this so stupid etc etc. I don't know why so many people trash these guns, its a huge victory for us and a big fuck you to the ATF. For me personally, our home has many door frames and rooms, its not a very open floor plan. I have an 870 Express too but im going to be banging it into everything moving around at night. With my shockwave I can hold it close to my chest without fear of bumping anything. By pushing out like im striking with a bayonet I can get on target faster vs coming from a low ready to shouldering a full size shotgun.
I think youve hit the secret formula to running a PGO properly. I've been push pulling my 2 PGOs with reasonable success but the strap and light hand stop is brilliant. I'll be setting my next one up exactly like yours.
As always great forward thinking. You made the shockwave actually usable and practical. I wish i would have seen this at the time of publishing. I wouldnt have given up on the shockwave and invested so heavily in my ks7.

Have your strap, optic, modified Magpul fore end, just need the hand stop to be shoot ready. I have a 6 shot Tac Star slim side saddle on it now. Your’s seem to all be 5 shot. Should I be worried about that extra round punching me in the face under recoil? I can always modify it if so. Second, have you tried the Defender Tactical adapter? It allows you to convert any 12 gauge Mossberg into an “S” model. I’ve got one on the way to test, just wondering if you have any experience with them.

Babawande Traditional PGO (pistol grip only) platforms with a vertical grip are much more difficult to use than the birdshead grips found in guns like the Shockwave. You cannot mount a Recoil Strap to them, and they do not lend themselves well to any sighted fire techniques. Best bet it’s to convert it to s Birdshead grip. Shockwave technologies sells them. So how do you suggest getting the TLR-7 mounted to the forearm grip? I have the basic shockwave corncob grip with the factory strap. Obviously your forearm grip is not stock.
He answers this question in a different thread. It will work if the firearm has a birds head grip to replace the pistol grip - the forces involved don't work the same way with a pistol grip.

Its weird that up here in Canada we have all these ridiculous stupid gun laws but for non semi automatic rifles and shotguns only the OAL of 26" is the law so I bought a shockwave and bought a 12" LOP hogue stock and now have a super sweet short barreled shotgun I loved it so much I bought a 20 gauge shockwave as well and did the same thing so now I have 2 shockwaves with 12" LOP hogue stocks to enjoy so my birdshead grips are sitting in my parts box never to be used 😉😊

thwolf762 no. Unless the class content is specifically tailored to these platforms, there is little point. There is minimal crossover in how these are optimally run vs how a stocked shotgun is taught. I’m happy to run a shotgun in a shotgun class. I DO offer training on how to run these. I have run various standards that shotgun instructors use to gauge proficiency. I’ve done several from Tim Chandler and Rob Haught (who I consider to be the best shotgun instructors) and have been able to pass all of them at the highest levels. I believe I am still the only instructor out that holds these to the same standards as a stocked gun

Steven Bellisle for me, yes. 100%personal preference. I prefer the open emitter style reflex for my user because I like how little is visible in my field of view.
LinkHyrule03 for MY use, yes. For those that haven’t invested the time? No. As an ambush weapon (how all in home defense guns SHOULD be used) you only need something that you can hide with and aim at a choke point or entrance. For terrible days where you have to move in the structure, less length is beneficial. Even an SBS would be shortstocked in 99% of movement within a home. I can achieve a full sight picture and max recoil mitigation by cheek welding this. When I do that, it’s still as short as an SBS that is shortstocked, except I get to use a dot.

I'd imagine that a semi-auto you can shoulder, that is also shorter, would offer less recoil and faster follow up shots.

The downside is that all of them were much more difficult for me to control in recoil than their standard counterparts, even though the bull pups all weighed more. I am guessing (strictly a guess here) that a different approach is needed to run those at the same speed and accuracy as a standard format shotgun or the BHG guns. Semi auto shotgun platforms are much more pleasant to shoot, easier to run, and minimize use of the least reliable part of the shooting system: the shooter. Could be a winner. Pick one up and let us know! There is a chance that I may be getting my hands on the new Black Aces bullpup. If I do, you will definitely see some posts about my experience with it.

I don't know of anybody, hunter or LEO shotgun user who pushes the gun out as they break a shot. My shotgun rides on my shoulder and not my chest. I don't understand your chest reference? I was trained in law enforcement on shotguns and have been a bird hunter for 40+ years so maybe I am just an old LEO FUDD? I guarantee that if you push the gun out while firing one of my Bernneke black magic Grizzly defense slugs you will likely have a disabled arm or shoulder for months. It better be held tight against your shoulder.
How about learn something that may allow you to hit something accurately with one of these and be comfortable using it. Or you could continue using it in a way that would never protect you.. your choice.

Raptor pistol grips (the birds head style) are like $15 bucks tops, so I recommend just picking one up.
