  • Ol' Tennessee himself, Carl Perkins, one of Paul McCartney's idols, knocked on the backstage door at one of Paul's concerts at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, TN on April 27, 1993. It just happens to have been the home of rockabilly legend Carl Perkins. With guitar in hand and a million stories in his head, Carl engaged Paul for an hour, playing all the rockabilly songs they both loved, including "Matchbox" which Carl wrote and recorded but was also famously done by The Fab Four with Ringo taking the lead. This is one of the most genuinely charming performance chats ever and we get to be a fly on the wall. #RIPcarlperkins

First saw this at Beatlefest in Los Angeles. Still blows me away. Amazing. The Beatles covered more Carl Perkins than anyone else.

A really great jam session. Two classic performers together and a big like from me.
