Thank you for the video. I didn't tried yet to make a welders hat. I just bought my sewing machine and I wanted to make a hat for my husband. (He is a welder) I'm gonna use his old hat to get his size. But thankfully I found your video, it is more easier for me how to do it step my step. Thank you so much girl😘🌺🌻🌼🏵️
Good job, Bought some on a job once that are double sided (reversible) and still have them although I've added some zig zag stitching where the threads were getting burned or worn off. Love them. I can see where it may be tough to get the head size correct but I think once a person makes a few it will be much easier. Still a nice job. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Awesome 1st tutorial! I have one tip if u don't mind: For the hat's bill (interfacing) I use an old pair of jeans or any old denim fabric in place of standard interfacing. Denim can take more of a beating on the job & in the washing machine, holds it's shape, yet still soft. Even though denim will be beneath Ur chosen cotton fabrics, it's still much more fire resistant. Thx again!
All you had to do to make that last strip for the circumference of the head was place your ruler kitty corner basically triangle on the paper which would’ve given you 12 inches then your fabric would just have to be double which would give you 24 inches you’re welcome
Thanks for a great tutorial. There were a few areas on the written instructions that did not make sense that you cleared up. Plus I really like the idea of cutting the interfacing first, fusing it to the fabric first, then cutting it out. Thanks!
okay so I think i have figured out how to properly resize as my husband is also 23. its hard to compare your cut outs to mine but is your side piece approx 4 1/2"w x 6 1/2" l?
Watch right before it gets resized in the video, I click on the little blocks at the bottom right corner of the picture, then hold the mouse button and drag it out, extending the white "paintable" area. Then resize as you normally would.
Pellon medium weight interfacing is fine. since it's a two-layer skullcap you could even get away with a light iterfacing. (Sometimes I'm lazy and use interfacing as a pattern that I can just attach to the fabric.)
I believe it was a medium weight. Good rule of thumb though: you'll be essentially using two layers of it, so make sure two layers won't be too stiff, nor too flimsy when you shop for it.
The Quilted Kitchen, hmmm in windows it's the basic paint program. Your mac might not have something comparable? It's been YEARS since I've had a mac. Any simple photo editing software will work really, so long as you can stretch an image with it.
ok thanks I will see if I can find something ..I did enlarge it to 165% and printed it and took the whole a4 page may be I will make one with cheesecloth to see if is ok haha thanks for your answer xx
vivian latham; I enlarged it %175, it's really a trial and error thing for me though. I'd print it out in different percentages, then measure the scale line to see what size I get. Also note: I made it larger by a size than what it said, otherwise it ended up too small.
Thanks yours is the best!

I got my pattern off of Craftsy, but it didn't have a band. Thank you for teaching me how to make the band and assemble! Nice tutorial.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, You just made my life so much easier
Should just take packing tape (it’s cheap for that application & create a stiffer template…

Hey, Would anyone be able to tell me how to enlarge the pattern? I'm newer to patterns and would love the help! I have a Mac computer.
THANK YOU 😊 😘
how stiff was your interfacing??

do you use special fabric?
The quilted Kitchen what I used was plain and simple cotton fabric, but they do make fire retardant fabric.
thank you, I want to make this for my hubby but I don't understand the enlargement part for printing...what program are you using? I have a Mac

So I'm guessing you don't like puppys. They just annoy the hell out of you. I think I'll just move on
