Oh my goodness! This sends me crashing back through the years! Mike Batt's music is still as fresh and fun as it ever was! The passionless, cynical minds that do the modern Disney and Nick dross could learn a lot from the team that made The Wombles!
Yes i just heard that yesterday, brilliant, it's enough to make you want to scale the wall to get in! I've been singing the Wombling Song since yesterday morning, and i'm 45 years old!
I remember our class doing a little act to this song in 1976. St Leonards Primary in Auckland New Zealand. We played that song so many times that the words and tune still haunt me to this day!
The Wombles are still as wonderful now as they were over 30 years ago, not to mention, a great way to teach kids about green living and environmental issues.
My grandfather's last name is Womble...the whole family listens to them whenever we can all get together. its so happy hahaha. i love how they make an appearance in Breakfast on Pluto too.
I'm to young to have seen the TV show of the Wombles but i watch them on RUclips as well as the clangers, bag puss, Trap door and willow the wisp! love them all! Xx

absolutely agree - i hae downloaded and ENJOYED some time with my two small children 8 & 6 watching puff the magic dragon, camberwick green wombles and playschool and they are absolutely fasinated

If only we had those shows back and how they were...Fireman sam, Thomas the tank, the wombles, bagpuss...oh and the clangers. Apparently the local council in Wimbledon used to have trouble with kids coming along to Wimbledon Common with bin bags from home; they'd empty the bin bags and wait for Wombles. Bless.

Aw, I can remember watching episodes of the 1970's TV series on Nick Jr Classics when I was younger. Such memories.
