Weird how the second phase is 100 times easier than the first with this one. Trying to evade her phase one combos is the hardest thing I've tried to do in this game. Second phase, you just either evade or catch and throw back her ranged attacks, evade her dash and then parry everything in her combo.
Exactly. I dont want to fight with this boss like "hit and run" style. I want to learn every move and their weak points but no one trying to fight like that. We can pass this boss and her second phase, yea but i want to become a master in the game. f I ever have to fight her again I should know her moves and how to evade them.

I was thinking of actually learning all the timings on her first phase attacks, dealing with the low high strings avoiding perfectly and punishing. @@ConstantUNTILisnt The best way is to do the level normally til you get the elevator card. Then try and fight her and inevitebly die. Take the elevator instantly and fight the boss. When you go over an age you're satisfied with, focus completely on dodging her attacks and learning her patterns instead of winning. After a lot of painful grinding you'll become a master of it.

Yeah, it's also skill based and have to spam focus moves on her. Somehow I managed to do the first phase deathless, but got cocky in the second and died. A thing I saw is that when she comes at you with the spinning move you can spam weave and gain a lot of structure and focus back to f her up.
Great tips. I can only hope this game gets a sequel. I don’t normally enjoy difficult games but Sifu is just the perfect difficulty. The loop is so addictive and unique. The art direction also helps. My personal GOTY.

I strongly recommend doing a forward-forward-triangle (front kick) if you have trouble closing the distance at the end of her combos in phase one. It also stuns her for a couple more hits.
One tip to mention during her 2nd phase is to try to have the "weapon catch" skill so u can catch the daggers she throws at u and throw them right back. If u can get the timing right, u wont have to avoid them, u can get a bit of damage on her and sometimes stop her from rushing in on u.
The "drunken style" that ends with down swipe offers a unique attacking opportunity. If you do Up > Up > Triangle during her down swipe, you will jump right over it (counts as a dodge, slowmo and everything) and hit her. This opens her up to a following Square > Triangle, which knocks her down ready for a Circle. Really speeds up the first phase. Also, in her second phase, the "glint" attack where she charges standing still and says something like "now you will die", can be parried. Just press L1 when you see the glint, very easy. I can't seem to parry the one where she does dash > dash > glint, so absolutely dodge that one.
2:27 For 1v1's I prefer the eye poke over the sweep. You can (potentially) get a full light combo in as opposed to just the 2 ground hits. Ground sweep seems better for group fights imo
Agree. eye strike > palm strike + heavy attack and you'll lay her flat on her back all the same, but with 3 extra hits as opposed to just one leg sweep
Probably want to use the stairs to ensure you get all 3 shrines and then take the elevator after you grab the 3rd shrine otherwise you will only get 1 shrine

Just started playing about an hour and a half ago and got so confused on this boss. First boss that felt frustrating imo because i didn't understand what i was doing wrong(blocking, parrying didn't work) but im glad im not the only one
If you can handle Kuroki with no weapons, you can easily reach all 3 shrines if you cut the path properly: 1)Use the card to use the stairs on the ground floor, to cut through and fight through floor two. Fight floor 2, get 1st shrine. 2) As you ascend the stairs after floor 2, and fight 4 people, grab a fresh bat 3) Upon reaching floor 3, go left and use the access card to fight the lady with the staff admiring the Absolver art work (also where the Calbot focus move is) 4) Upon starting the encounter with staff lady, trip her ass with focus, switch out your bat for her staff, kick her ass, and grab your fresh bat again 5) ascend to floor 4 via stairs to grab 2nd shrine 6) use elevator, grab the 3rd shrine, live long and prosper 🖖

If you can hit her with a caught dagger it does tons of damage! This video was fantastic but the dagger catch definitely should get a mention! (Just hit L1 right when the dagger is about to hit you--assuming you purchased the skill)
bro fr saved me cuz i was about to lose my sh*t fr on this boss, killed it while being 40 so yeah. 1 tip maybe if you don't have a weapon in the second fight, when she jumps and trowhs the daggers if you press r1 just when they're about to hit you he grabs one and then you'll have a weapon
Best tutorial video I found out of 5 channels. Thank you. I finally beat her. Before finding your video I went from 24 to 34 in 15 minutes against her. My struggle is with phase 2. Phase 1 is relatively easy even without a weapon. I find it's easier to read the swings of that larger weapon. Phase 2 my timing was so bad. It wasn't until today I was even able to evade her knife throws. I still got hit with one or two hits of her combo in P2 but I was able to dodge her jump kick which between that and her flash knife attack, that was what was really killing me before. After your video I was able to dodge 90% of the knife rush attacks and all of her pause then jump kick attacks. I still died twice but at least I'm still in my 20's for now.
This was s good strategy. I think it's very annoying how so many people will post strats that are purposely misleading to troll. Thats the biggest frustration
Yep, that's the nature of Sifu. Do it over and over and over, improving over and over and over, for days or even weeks on end, until eventually you run from the start to finish in no time without aging at all.
Kuroki may just be my favorite boss no matter how hard she is, the way the developers made her is amazing. From the split personality disorder to her body movements... it's awesome. Not to mention I see what they did with the snow and water, she's graceful as snow...and will quickly blow you away. Smooth and flowing like water. (Her second phase wasn't smooth more, in rage like but you get it). Even the art around the museum gave sudden hints she's a 2 phase boss.
Just started up a new playthrough since the game came out and was able to beat this boss easily thanks to you! My previous attempt she killed me to age 52 💀
You can also use the eye poke followed by the up down heavy sweep attack to trip anyone tested it on every boss but yang. Good way to get so extra damage in on bosses and still put them on their back.
If you get weapon catch you can catch her projectiles if you time it perfectly and throw them back at her. Personally I did it the very hard way and tried to learn her move set for the first phase so it took a while to beat her but way too satisfying when you get the dodges right. Second phase dodging is easy. Also having the vertical strikes focus move let’s you get a full regular and full heavy combo on her that takes up almost half her health. Have fun y’all 🙌🏾
The first phase is much more difficult than the 2nd phase, but after some more attempts I was able to get a rhythm of her attacks that I could reliably almost dodge all of them, since its always a rhythm of up-down-up-down or down-side-side. Her body is kinda hard to read but her weapon is the most important to pay attention to
Ways to "boost" your fight through kuroki is you have both the moves and the bravery - In her 1st phase, her attack strings that end in a high attack can be countered with a crotch hit at that last hit to interrupt her finisher combos (I do not suggest duck, it takes longer and you dont have that much of a time frame) - In her 1st phase, her countinuous fast swipes as she rushes towards you dont need to be blocked, parried or even avoided. You can end it with a well timed charged backhand attack. Its a good habit to charge it up whenever she gets away from you, just in case she does that next - In her 2nd phase, its pretty beneficial to grab her kunais whenever she shoots them while jumping back as you can send them back and they're very likely to stun her., allowing you to close back in again . Note, that grabbing it and instantly wanting to throw it back can expose you if she decides to do normal throws afterwards - In her 2nd phase, deflecting during her main attacks is just way better and easier. Just maybe try to avoid the last one, as is the most risky.

I just wanted to say thank you this helped so much I'm trying to run the game at 20 level by level and i finally beat this asshole. Besides everything i learned here i had some small things that helped me. When i start the level i beat the weaker of the two enemies holding the baseball ball bat and then i disarm the other and before killing him i dodge enough times to build up my meter so i can have a special move going into the boss fight. Then i take the baseball bat which does more damage to boss. After every sequence i land 2 hits. And while the boss is retreating you can hit another time or even two times if he's blocking that made the first phase of the boss easier for me otherwise everything on this video was so helpful thanks.
I have a good idea for a version of this game where it's about whether or not you're good at it instead of knowing when the impossible to spot window for 1 attack is
Great video. I just can’t get by the second phase of this boss. The first phase I find pretty easy. But the second one I die in seconds. It’s a timing thing I can’t seem to grasp.
Take a weapon in. Don't attack with it, just block with it. Weapons don't break unless used to attack. With that you should be able to carry a weapon all the way to phase 2, and use it at the start to find your feet.
You know you can actually avoid her combos and just kill her by catching and throwing the kunais at her. All you have to do is push her when she running at you
Nice guide. I've been stuck on this boss for a few days. Doesn't seem fair that she gets bladed weapons and there are no weapons to pickup in the arena.

It was a little tricky figuring out the spar bosses deal and I actually found out by accident. I was punishing bosses for what they put me through and purposely not finishing them off.

It’s honestly confusing on how people are having a hard time with her first phase. Her combos are easy. You don’t need to hit and run. They are dodgable and parrable. Maybe the animations are confusing but it’s literally the same combos like any other boss. She only has one structure break move but it’s predictable. It’s probably as easy or easier than her second phase. First play through on disciple(normal) I beat her with only one death.
FYI Kuroki's move set appears to have changed in v1.7 - I am not seeing the patterns you show here in the first phase of the fight. Although, it's my first couple of times trying to defeat her. I know some enemies change their moves up depending on how well you are doing/how many times you have restarted.
Yeah in ohase 1 it seems like she does a low sweep after glowing but no jumping forward after 1.7patch and i didn’t see her do any whirlwind attack, not sure if it’s because i fought her too close on my playthrough
The first phase is just stay out of range and when she does the video attack or the jump and slam attack give her 2-3 hits and done, you can't block or parry the blades
That's it, but you can block her attacks if you have a weapon. If you don't use the weapon to attack her, you can block her forever with a weapon until you break her posture as weapons don't break unless you attack with them.

@@typingreallyfast Eye Strike -> Crouch Shot -> Palm Strike into Heavy attack. You get 4 extra hit and that crouch shot does a good damage.
Leg sweep two hits then combo. Leg sweep just gives u two extra hits

You need to mainly spam the fuck out of L1 and up dodge leg sweeps
I found it unique how other than Yang, Kuroki is the only one who's death doesn't immediately cut away when the killing blow lands.

You can squeeze the turnip even more by doing charged backfist before the sweep

If you get weapon catch you can catch her projectiles if you time it perfectly and throw them back at her. Personally I did it the very hard way and tried to learn her move set for the first phase so it took a while to beat her but way too satisfying when you get the dodges right. Second phase dodging is easy. Also having the vertical strikes focus move let’s you get a full regular and full heavy combo on her that takes up almost half her health. Have fun y’all 🙌🏾
This Video helped me a lot. After watching it i beat her first try. With a weapon it is really a lot easier.
The first phase is much more difficult than the 2nd phase, but after some more attempts I was able to get a rhythm of her attacks that I could reliably almost dodge all of them, since its always a rhythm of up-down-up-down or down-side-side. Her body is kinda hard to read but her weapon is the most important to pay attention to

Ways to "boost" your fight through kuroki is you have both the moves and the bravery
- In her 1st phase, her attack strings that end in a high attack can be countered with a crotch hit at that last hit to interrupt her finisher combos (I do not suggest duck, it takes longer and you dont have that much of a time frame)
- In her 1st phase, her countinuous fast swipes as she rushes towards you dont need to be blocked, parried or even avoided. You can end it with a well timed charged backhand attack. Its a good habit to charge it up whenever she gets away from you, just in case she does that next
- In her 2nd phase, its pretty beneficial to grab her kunais whenever she shoots them while jumping back as you can send them back and they're very likely to stun her., allowing you to close back in again . Note, that grabbing it and instantly wanting to throw it back can expose you if she decides to do normal throws afterwards
- In her 2nd phase, deflecting during her main attacks is just way better and easier. Just maybe try to avoid the last one, as is the most risky.

I just wanted to say thank you this helped so much I'm trying to run the game at 20 level by level and i finally beat this asshole. Besides everything i learned here i had some small things that helped me. When i start the level i beat the weaker of the two enemies holding the baseball ball bat and then i disarm the other and before killing him i dodge enough times to build up my meter so i can have a special move going into the boss fight. Then i take the baseball bat which does more damage to boss. After every sequence i land 2 hits. And while the boss is retreating you can hit another time or even two times if he's blocking that made the first phase of the boss easier for me otherwise everything on this video was so helpful thanks.
Just after I made my comment I beat her. Jeesh took me like 25 tries-at 69 years old.

Great video. I just can’t get by the second phase of this boss. The first phase I find pretty easy. But the second one I die in seconds. It’s a timing thing I can’t seem to grasp.
Take a weapon in. Don't attack with it, just block with it. Weapons don't break unless used to attack. With that you should be able to carry a weapon all the way to phase 2, and use it at the start to find your feet.

Well, I couldn't imagine that first phase is so BORING. It's so bad that the game doesn't reward you enough for agression and parrying in timing.
One weapon in the boss environment. That would fix this boss fight and make it so you can engage her. If they did that this fight would be excellent.

You know you can actually avoid her combos and just kill her by catching and throwing the kunais at her. All you have to do is push her when she running at you

Nice guide. I've been stuck on this boss for a few days. Doesn't seem fair that she gets bladed weapons and there are no weapons to pickup in the arena.
Yeah, that was an oversight, especially since there are weapons available for the two boss fights before her. Seems odd.

@@fuzzybearbarian I agree, the only way to find that out though is spoilers or the hard way. I learned the hard way, once I got used to dodge and slip I destroyed this game. It was a little tricky figuring out the spar bosses deal and I actually found out by accident. I was punishing bosses for what they put me through and purposely not finishing them off.
@@rmmm6725 it would be too easy to beat yang with focus moves combos, that's maybe why they removed it for yang. Or maybe because since he's unarmed u can spam blocks to get focus since u dont take chip damage

It’s honestly confusing on how people are having a hard time with her first phase. Her combos are easy. You don’t need to hit and run. They are dodgable and parrable. Maybe the animations are confusing but it’s literally the same combos like any other boss. She only has one structure break move but it’s predictable.
It’s probably as easy or easier than her second phase. First play through on disciple(normal) I beat her with only one death.
FYI Kuroki's move set appears to have changed in v1.7 - I am not seeing the patterns you show here in the first phase of the fight.
Although, it's my first couple of times trying to defeat her. I know some enemies change their moves up depending on how well you are doing/how many times you have restarted.
Yeah in ohase 1 it seems like she does a low sweep after glowing but no jumping forward after 1.7patch and i didn’t see her do any whirlwind attack, not sure if it’s because i fought her too close on my playthrough
Before I ever beat her phase 1 I was never getting the close range vertical combos, after beating her a few times she uses them all the time.

The first phase is just stay out of range and when she does the video attack or the jump and slam attack give her 2-3 hits and done, you can't block or parry the blades
That's it, but you can block her attacks if you have a weapon. If you don't use the weapon to attack her, you can block her forever with a weapon until you break her posture as weapons don't break unless you attack with them.
