Great video ,Sam! I jumped on Samsung's Mother's Day deal with a trade-in offer of $1,000 for the S21 Ultra. I picked up the s22 Ultra for $288. So far, loving the experience of the phone. As for battery life, it's all right. It will get me through a day and a half with regular use. If I utilize the camera, record 4K video, and play games plus RUclips videos, then the battery last about a day. However, I really do enjoy the typing experience much better than I did on the S21 ultra. I believe it's due to the wider screen real estate. It's not a huge upgrade from the S21 Ultra, but for the camera improvements and increase in storage for the price, I thought I might as well pull the trigger.

Having more fingerprint saved only makes it take longer as there is more scans to go through. It's best to save both thumbs under one save. This gives it 12 scans to go through rather than 24 or 36 etc.

Yes, FP sensor, the Ultrasonic 2.0 was not used on the S22U and I can only assume that was price-gouging (to save money). HONOR has it as well as IQOO and it is superfast and with a larger area. The issue Samsung has that they did not develop their own FP sensor so they have to pay Qualcomm for Licensed use, meaning costs come into it (Apple developed their own 3D Face-ID and that is no longer a cost per unit royalty). I think the FP sensor sums up the s22U, to keep the price they have compromised, so along with that there is a worse speaker setup, fake 45-watt charging, no real LTPO 2.0, only goes down to 24Hz (bad for AOD and battery), cheaper batteries, still half the water resistance of an iPhone (depth), 8GB base version rather than 12GB of yesteryears, still dumping Exynos in Europe, shutter lag unresolved, noisy video in low-light, poor durability (likely Note-like design), worse battery life of all SD8G1 devices, etc. Samsung knew the S22U was underwhelming and by making it a de facto Note they have put a plaster over the blood loss of the S20 and S21 lines. This will give anomalously higher sales numbers but just put back the real problem Samsung has of massively declining flagship sales, which I feel it is industry-wise, so maybe no solution. Instead they should just cut the crap and give us the best rather than compromise and charge the requisite amount. Apple is just putting up their prices rather than price-gouging and I agree with that policy. A good year to skip the Galaxy S line and hope Samsung gets a better business model next year.
Great video as always mate. With the fingerprint sensor enrolment. I enrol left thumb first at 50% then switch to the right for the remaining 50%. Do the same with other fingers. Works like a charm when unlocking. Also I found the speakers on the S22 Ultra to be very mediocre compared to the S21 Ultra and iPhone. Even with Dolby Atmos on and tweaking the settings they are still average at best. Very tinny.
After using the note 20 ultra for awhile and every big phone since the note 3, Im done with big phones but the only problem is unless I go ios there really is no great small android phone that checks all the boxes.
I have the s22 ultra and I agree. I wish the base 22 could have been that phone, but I may may try the new Asus Zenfone for a compact carry to switch between. Currently using an iPhone for my smaller device and while iOS us smooth, I just prefer Androids flexibility
I agree. I just exchanged my Ultra 22 for the 22 plus and I love it so much better. To me I thought the Ultra 22 was heavy and was way to heavy to hold in one hand. It is a two hand phone and that kinda defeats the purpose of a mobile phone to me if I have to use both hands everytime I decide to use it. I had the Note 20 before this and that phone was light and just right. So I say all this to say I think the S22 plus is a super awesome phone. It is light to hold in one hand. Great camera's and super pristine clear screen.
Hi, Thank you for your great videos. I would love to have the best smartphone camera but a smaller device. S22 ultra and Pixel 6 pro are very big. I always have it in my shorts when hiking in the mountains. Do I have to switch to an iPhone 13 pro to get this or do you have any recommendation? At the moment I use a Huawei mate 20 pro.
Love this vid. Have a 13 pro max but the videos aspect ration is fine. Only small minimal black bars at the top and bottom; I prefer this over the big ones on other videos.

Has anyone found that after a few weeks of use, the battery life on the S22 ultra will noticeably improve? Seen some reports about this, but 12 days later and I don't think I've noticed anything.
After S21 I have and i use Samsung all my life i will never buy any Samsung or IPhone never again. Simply bec all u get in those phones after 2018 its only cheap parts and cheap old displays for just new name called S21, S22, S23 or what ever. I bought mine for 1000 euro and display quality is trash. Cheap plastic.. easy scratch display and what ever. Today u pay mostly for the logo -double price compare to what the phone offer. And S21 camera is disaster compare to older models. So no thank u no more Samsung in my hands for double price with old cheap parts inside. I'm not surprised why companies offer and people buy a lot more new phones like OPPO and Xiomi and others some of them are amazing for much much Lower price.
I am using s22 plus for the past one month. It's good phone not the best. Big let down is display... pixel density is pathetic. Battery is average. Software is okish . Camera is excellent.
Got the phone last week and should be trading in my Note 20 Ultra but I'm still on the fence. My Note with its 2yr old 4500 Mah battery gets the same or better battery life than this 5000 Mah phone! WTF? Yes great cameras and all the hype but besides the cameras the Note 20 Ultra is still good especially with One Ui 4.1. Decisions Decisions...
Keep the N20 U with this you lose MST, SD card and the phone heats up. Also look up Samsung forums a lot of folks are having issues with 5G connectivity. I had them too that’s why I returned it once it loses 5G connectivity it struggles to get the connection back the only way it worked was switching off 5G and staying with LTE. Also for a 5000 Mh battery the SOT in this is really bad.
Iam using my s22ultra i must say got scammed by samsung with hype and paid youtubers, so called flagship with mediocre battery life and overheating issue. Whats the use of flagship >1000$ if everything have to be Optimize to save battery ,Samsung should have focused more on tech than on ad.

@@meezoo2 you need to change theme to default one, the one with Dynamic color, so then when you change your wallpaper & style then the color palette will follow based on your wallpaper color, that why he got that light blue on his Gboard (it follows his color palette from his blue color wallpaper), not from specific color from Gboard theme
Just some constructive criticism here. This entire video feels a little bit more like you're trying to explain stuff about the phone instead of your experience of the phone. So it feels a little bit less like a review and more of a MKBHD video.
I am on two minds whether to leave the pixel lineup of stock Android and head over to Samsung's phones, I am currently rocking the pixel 6 Pro and by all means this is a great phone and I have had no problems like some others but I feel Samsung may have caught up and over took in some cases Their ecosystem between devices/gadgets Samsung's photo/videos are definitely on par if not better, especially with extra functionality. I feel the only thing that Google has locked me into is stock Android and how fluid it is and the Google assistant etc..... I was waiting for the pixel watch to drop and if it is a flop I think Samsung may be the next best phone for me My question is has anyone left the pixel 6 Pro to go to Samsung s22 ultra and regretted it or preferred it? Is it true Samsung's one UI nowhere near as fluid as Google pixel phones?
I had the regular pixel 6. It felt almost as smooth as iOS with additional features such as call screening. Most people say Samsung's features are gimmicky, but I believe that is only true if they don't work. While I don't use every feature available on my S22 Ultra, I use them enough that I would miss them if I didn't have them. That said, if the S Pen isn't something you are serious about using, I think the Pixel 6 Pro has had enough updates that it is worth keeping, and I am hearing Android 13 has made it even better. Looking forward to seeing the Pixel 7 and watch. If everything is relatively smooth at launch, I will give Google another go.
The phone gets a 9.25/10 from me Honestly I think waiting for the s23 ultra might just be be smarter. 3nm GAA chip for amazing performance &battery Stacked battery Perfect display Worlds best camera & finally great video Much faster storage /instant app loading due to most apps being >4gb big and the new storage can read that in 0.9second which is roughly the time of the opening animation. -border reduction tech for really slim bezels The s23's only flaw will be the under display selfie cam quality but hopefully they just skip that
Why does 3nm matter if every year, their architecture gets worse and worse just like 5nm and 4nm. I think they should just improve 4nm and use that for better stability. It's all just marketing at the end of the day.
Samsung Fabs have stopped work on their 3nm due to terrible yields, under 10%, so I do not expect 3nm in the S23 line. Qualcomm will struggle to get TSMC to make all the chips for them, due to Apple, Nvidia and others have first dibs. So it may be a case that S23 comes with Exynos 4nm next year and I can only hope that does not suck as much as this years (only 30% yield). I can say that my Exynos S22U performs sub-par to the level that I am selling it as it is simply too far behind. I understand the S22 with Snapdragon is better but using OPPO Find X5 Pro now and that is so much smoother than Samsung, it is night and day. I can settle on slightly less camera lenses and s-pen and save £500 for a much better user experience. Keep drinking the Samsung koolaid, the reality outside the US is that there are much better choices.
@@andyH_England nah without 3nm tech Samsung will fall so far behind and they know it, gaa even if still performing worse than tsmc's 5nm Is Still their only hope. They godda nail it or there is no catching up to the competition :(
The S22 Ultra is amazing!!! But why drop the Note name, theNote and us consumers that bought it yearly are the ones that have Samsung smacking, Apple! And pushing them to start letting their thumb off some of their software! You're Welcome Apple users lo :)
Yeah but iphone doesn't support qhd screen, usb-c split screen multitasking, sideloading, ldAC, aptx, video output, no desktop mode, no landscape mode, no third party launchers. And they *just fixed battery issues, as iPhone 12 battery was dreadful. I think both Samsung and Apple have been terrible lately due to their de-facto monopoly position in the USa. Outside of the USA there are legit competitors but here they are both removing features, making our devices unrepairable etc ..
@@michael_c2 first of all, iphone 12 battery was great, I have one now and it lasts longer them my s21+. And majority of people aren't using split screen multi tasking, side loading app, desktop mode, landscape mode and half the other stuff you said to get shit battery life. The battery life is just bad in general. usb c has no impact on battery life compared to the lightening port, at all. The standard iphone 13 has a better screen than the s22+ and battery life is way better, so you can't blame the screen.
@@michael_c2 You mention a 2020 iPhone to compare with a 2022 Samsung, that sounds desperate! The iPhone 12 Pro Max battery is pretty good now, some iOS versions were buggy meaning less battery but now it is great, but the iPhone 14 Pro Max will be the de facto 2022 iPhone so we will await the battery life there. In the interim the iPhone 13 PM kills the s22U. eg I get 2-3X more SoT than my Exynos S22U, that struggles to get >3 hours. I use none of the stuff you mentioned which is typical nonsense as all battery test never use those and the S22U still get nearly 3 hours less with a 15% smaller battery iPhone! Stop being a Samsung Knight, Samsung needs to improve and with people like you making excuses that will never happen.

Very tinny.
😮
Great video thanks I love it 👍
After using the note 20 ultra for awhile and every big phone since the note 3, Im done with big phones but the only problem is unless I go ios there really is no great small android phone that checks all the boxes.
Asus Zenfone 9? The only problem is Asus update politic
With the trade in program I got the 512 white model of the 22 ultra for only 400. Pretty gold deal since I traded in my 21 ultra
Loved it. What keyboard is that?
GBoard. the best
I prefer this design also, the s21 ultra was a little top heavy to me
Aah! New Video, New style 🔥
Hey Sam
It's not the same screen as the s21 ultra because this one should have LTPO 2.0 right?
Your videos are awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hi,
Thank you for your great videos.
7:00 what launcher is that? If thats samsung how did you make the icons so small? Thanks in advance... if i had to guess maybe thats nova launcher but then how did you keep the open/close animations... thanks in advance and great video Sam, keep them coming!
Nvm lol just watched the rest of the video and it's home up with theme park
Do you think you could do a video similar to this on the Galaxy Z Flip 3?
Hey Sam should I wait for iPhone 14 Pro or just buy Samsung S22 ultra.... BTW I am android user right now what is your suggestion
THANK U BEYOND BROSKI
Icons used in this review?
Has anyone found that after a few weeks of use, the battery life on the S22 ultra will noticeably improve? Seen some reports about this, but 12 days later and I don't think I've noticed anything.
Mine did end the day with more battery after weeks of usage
Are you going to review the Motorola edge 30 plus? 1k aud pretty awesome value for a flagship
Snapdragon or Exynos - for second class customers?
Right now I am trying to to decide whether I should buy the s23 ultra or oneplus 11 or the redmagic 8 pro
S23 Ultra no question
I did get the s23 ultra and thanks for your answer
Is this review unit Exynos or Snapdragon?
Its because of the snapdragon gen 1 being super inefficient and draws a lot of power
Does anyone has the wallpaper in the vid??
Can't change icons with home up
Great Review 👍🙂
Iam using my s22ultra i must say got scammed by samsung with hype and paid youtubers, so called flagship with mediocre battery life and overheating issue. Whats the use of flagship >1000$ if everything have to be Optimize to save battery ,Samsung should have focused more on tech than on ad.
I get like 5 hours sot on my exynos, my biggest issue with the phone
how can i get same keyboard keys color (light Blue) @4:12, I could not find it, I found dark blue.
You need use Gboard, and change the theme color in keyboard settings
@@pudinichigo91 thank you for your reply, appreciated, I am using Gboard and I looked for same color (light blue) in themes but i could not find it. there is dark & light gradient plus landscapes & colors which have only two themes with white background: one theme with dark blue and the other theme with green color but no white theme with light blue color for Enter button & Space & number button and the arrow above numbers row. this is what i am looking for and there is no option to change colors as Samsung keyboard.
@@pudinichigo91 thank you, thank you, thank you, it is working now. appreciate your patience and assist to solve my issue.
@@meezoo2 you're most welcome, I'm glad it helped
Nice! Great review
Snapdragon or exynos?
Well of course the battery on the iPhone last longer. Less features means less battery usage.
Pictures can be recovered without root
What icon pack is he using?
Kecil
Just some constructive criticism here.
This entire video feels a little bit more like you're trying to explain stuff about the phone instead of your experience of the phone.
So it feels a little bit less like a review and more of a MKBHD video.
Should a Z Fold 3 user upgrade to a S22 Ultra?
Nope, you should wait for fold 4 or s23U
I am on two minds whether to leave the pixel lineup of stock Android and head over to Samsung's phones, I am currently rocking the pixel 6 Pro and by all means this is a great phone and I have had no problems like some others but I feel Samsung may have caught up and over took in some cases
Their ecosystem between devices/gadgets
Samsung's photo/videos are definitely on par if not better, especially with extra functionality.
I feel the only thing that Google has locked me into is stock Android and how fluid it is and the Google assistant etc..... I was waiting for the pixel watch to drop and if it is a flop I think Samsung may be the next best phone for me
My question is has anyone left the pixel 6 Pro to go to Samsung s22 ultra and regretted it or preferred it?
What fucking happened with samsung battery life, I had note 20 ultra the battery was awful, upgraded to s22 now am nostalgic to note days ,,,shame
The phone gets a 9.25/10 from me
Honestly I think waiting for the s23 ultra might just be be smarter.
3nm GAA chip for amazing performance &battery
Stacked battery
Perfect display
Worlds best camera & finally great video
Much faster storage /instant app loading due to most apps being >4gb big and the new storage can read that in 0.9second which is roughly the time of the opening animation.
-border reduction tech for really slim bezels
The s23's only flaw will be the under display selfie cam quality but hopefully they just skip that
Why does 3nm matter if every year, their architecture gets worse and worse just like 5nm and 4nm.
@@andyH_England ahhh chinese bot.... i see
@@andyH_England nah without 3nm tech Samsung will fall so far behind and they know it, gaa even if still performing worse than tsmc's 5nm Is Still their only hope. They godda nail it or there is no catching up to the competition :(
Is Sam's Voice Little Bit Changed 🤨
I guess I got a good one because I'm having no issues with anything on my S22 Ultra.
Root can be removed after installing
My battery lasts me a full day and till at least 12pm to 4 o'clock the next day
The S22 Ultra is amazing!!! But why drop the Note name, theNote and us consumers that bought it yearly are the ones that have Samsung smacking, Apple! And pushing them to start letting their thumb off some of their software! You're Welcome Apple users lo :)
I think it had to do with note sales falling and they were gonna kill it but everyone was mad that they killed it so they brought it back
Need to catch up on the battery life, iphone is at almost 2 days
Sir can you provide me the blue wallpaper link which is in your video
battery life sucks, my brother's s22 can't even last a day with above average media consumption
My S22 can last for 24h with average 6hours SOT with moderate usages media consumption
On mine battery life is bad... from 9am till 4pm and îs dead. 5hrs screen on Time... not Last 1 Day.... is a half Day Phone.. 13 pro max has 10-11 screen on Time. Last a Day fulll
If you look at your phone more than five hours every Day you need to get a life dude.
@@filip4dk o have Skype from work 8.hrs per day..
I want this phone but I hate that fucking curb screen.
Love the phone but the battery it's garbage

Portland, JAMAICA in The Building !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can I trade in a broken phone so I can get 222 dollars off
Call me crazy buuut - it's just a S21 ULTRA 2.0
I was always jealous of Sony phones for being boxy...I'm not anymore.
Can I have a new phone, please?
Wait really? 😳

2mins in and the accent is like a fork in my ear. I can't finish the video
You can decrease or even completely remove the fingerprint animation and every animation that the phone has from the developer options
removing animations from developer options is ugly, stupid and breaks some apps.
then what is meaning of fluidness and animations with such powerful things..
