    Storyline
A small town gradually becomes aware of a strange creature which picks off people one by one. But what is this creature, and where is it? At the same time, a seismologist is working in the area, she detects _tremors_. The creature lives underground, and can 'pop up' without warning. Trapped in their town, the town-folk have no escape.

I’m sure quicksand was a bigger deal back in the day. As time passed, more and more parking lots and driveways took over in its place. 🤣 However, every once and a while you’ll see a sinkhole on the news. I see sinkholes as quicksands big brother. Always putting up with the annoyances of life until one day it snaps and swallows an entire house. 😂. You can put that in your movie, but I want credit. lol

What's funny is, a few years before this was released, Michael Gross did a somewhat anti-gun commercial. However, not only is he the only actor that appears in everything Tremors (except the one featuring Bacon's return), he is VERY well versed in the use of firearms, explosives, and other weapons, every time, and always handlss them "by the book". So, either he has an extremely good trainer, or he really does handle firearms on a regular basis in real life.

Love this movie! I saw this film growing up on The Navajo Nation. The idea of the movie came from Brent Maddock and SS Wilson whom were in the Navy. They were sitting on a large Boulder, they were taking notes, and one of them said "What if there was something under the ground that would never let us off this rock?" And thus Tremors was born.

Funny enough, I never really questioned why Reba was dual-wielding pistols in the basement until I watched you video. HOWEVER, due to recent experiences, I immediately understood WHY she would do it and why it would make logical sense, lol.
Basically, I’ve recently been watching a RUclips channel called The Fat Electrician, who is ex-military and talks about various military things. One of his videos was on the Colt M1911 pistol with .45 ACP and why there are special forces units that will use that pistol today, even though it’s been +100 years since it was made and the 9mm Beretta is standard issue for the military.
TLDR; America was involved in fighting somewhere in Asia at the turn of the 1900’s and we were fighting guys who’d go into battle so high on opium that they’d ignore bullet wounds. Since guns at the time weren’t cutting it, an experiment was performed…basically, to see what the SMALLEST calibre of bullet could be made that would still consistently kill a cow in one shot.
Because, you know, using a bullet that has the stopping power to kill a 1000lbs animal in one shot against a 150lbs crackhead isn’t total overkill, lol.
Once the found that .45 rounds were the smallest bullets that could consistently drop cows, patron saint of firearms John Moses Browning developed the M1911 pistol specifically to fire that calibre of bullets. Thusly known as .45 ACP- Automatic Colt Pistol.
So, I’m actually pretty sure that Reba is using an M1911 in each hand to shoot the graboid, chambered in .45 ACP. Because while that acronym is SUPPOSED to mean automatic colt pistol, considering the history of the gun, it’s completely appropriate to call it an Anti-Cow Projectile.

You're not alone on the quicksand thing. Because all I understood was that quicksand was sand, I used to be convinced that anywhere that had sand meant I was at risk of sinking to my death. On a side note, it's increasingly wonderful to see so many people watching and enjoying this movie. Tremors wasn't super poorly received back in the day, but it flew under a lot of people's radars, and that was a crying shame. This movie came out when I was 3 years old and my dad loved it, so I've been watching Tremors my whole life. The first is still the best, but I enjoyed the second and fourth quite a bit, too. 3's fun because it fully embraces the glorious insanity that is Burt Gummer, so while it's not quite as strong story-wise, it's a whacky good time.

So, the buddy, Earl, was played by the great Fred Ward who very recently died, but a sometimes lead, but mainly supporting actor that's been in a lot of good flicks. Particularly, he played Gus Grissom in one of my very favorite movies, "The Right Stuff". I have a whole regular spiel I do that I won't bore you with now, and suggested play list, but maybe you're already familiar with this stuff, but if you aren't and you're into historical based, NASA, space race age stuff, start with "The Right Stuff". I can give you the spiel on demand.
I grew up during the Kevin Bacon era, so I'm a big fan. There's lots of good stuff to check out, but just to name a couple, you don't get more vintage Kevin Bacon than "Footloose"! It's an 80s movie that on face value seems like kind of a frivolous flick, but I think it's actually very well done, and makes some social and political commentary that's probably more relevant today than it ever was (at least in the US). It's a huge part of my childhood that is so sacred to me, that I still refuse to watch the remake.
Another favorite that I've always thought was phenomenal, but underappreciated was "Murder In The First", based on the true story of the trial that brought down Alcatraz. At the time at least, I thought it was Kevin Bacon's finest performance, and it also had an additional cast of Christian Slater, Gary Oldman, and others. The director, Marc Rocco, made a few other really good flicks, one of them another personal favorite from my youth, but he sadly died fairly young. I think I was 14 or 15, and I remember it probably began my disillusionment with the credibility of The Academy Awards. I think it did win a couple technical Oscars, but I felt it was generally snubbed.

I watched some behind-the-scenes stuff of this film not too long ago. One of the cinematographers talked about how they would dig trenches in the dirt, cover up props tied to ropes and pull them along to get a certain effect. He specifically mentioned how a lot of their filming techniques was the sort of thing you'd *never* see done today. I find it super interesting how some older low-budget films had to kind of invent their own means of doing things. Wish more films would use experimental techniques or angles to get unique effects. Sam Raimi is another director who tends to use pretty unusual angles and styles in his movies.

I had a copy of the Anarchist's Cookbook, but only because it was banned. The contents were woefully outdated, even in the '80's. The imprivised munitions and survival manuals from the US military are much more interesting, chemical substitutes, how-to's with materials even available in prison, rocketry, hardware store gun builds, lots of stuff.

"Tremors": a B-movie that rose to A-level with Humor, Horror and Romance.;) Kevin Bacon made this movie during a low point in his career. For years it was "Yeah, I made 'Tremors." These days it's "Hell Yeah I made 'Tremors!" Actor Michael Gross, starts off as the stereotypical Prepper, to become the "Badass Burt Gummer" throughout the movie series. The Graboids evolve during the series, flying and flamethrower farting in later editions.

So since the graboids are so sensitive to vibrations, explosions scare them to move faster because it over stimulates their sensitive senses. So they run. Like when someone jumps out and scares you, you get a flight or fight response. So sudden explosions made them run sensing danger. So when Kevin Bacon 🥓 three the pipe bomb the graboids freaked out and went faster and went whoop, right off the cliff.

The explosions where so loud it hurt them with such intense underground vibrations that they had to run away from the noise as seen by the first example of them blowing up the first bomb and them all running away from the noise. So he threw it past sp when it went off it had no choice but to get away as fast as possible and the only direction to could go was forward right over the cliff

Crazy to think that this film didn't preform well at the box-office when it came out, and didn't do much in UK cinema's either, back in 1989. I saw Tremors when it arrived on VHS rental in the UK. I think CIC video put it out. The film built up a strong cult following, and is now regarded as a classic. It's sequels less so, but it's still a go to movie whenever you feel a Jaws/Tremors double bill. They don't make films like Termors anymore. Sad to say.
