Another great video, thanks!! Exactly what I was looking for 👍
You are welcome and I'm happy to have been of some help!!!
Was waiting for this shootout. Thanks Leo!! Your side by side comparison charts are my favorite
You are welcome and thank you so much for your feedback!!! I'm really happy that you appreciate the charts!!!
Thanks Leo! Happy New Year!
You are welcome, happy 2024 to you too!!!
Excellent review thank you very much !!!❤❤❤
You are welcome and I'm really happy that you like the video!!!
Perfect timing and great explanation. I'm inclined to the IR-200 because I don't need a small pedal. I am also drawn to the display on the IR-200.
Hi, thank you so much for sharing and I'm really happy that you like the explanation!!!
NIce comparison, Leo! I have the IR-200 and like it a lot. It would be great if software updates would enable the pedals to hold more or different amps.
Thank you!
Yes, I do agree!
Thanks Leo. As always, a very informative video.
IR2 it is. Can't wait to compare it to my Tonex pedal.
Hi, you are welcome and thank you for your comment!!
Thanks for you work Leo, happy holiday for you and your family.
It would be great to make strong checkup for new Kemper Player somewhere at next year :)
You are welcome and I'm really happy that you appreciate the videos!
Yes...that's exactly what I'm working now...the Player is arrived here in my studio! 😀
Nice job Leo, outstanding comparison. I have the Kemper Stage and the Irridium. The IR-2 seems perfect for a smaller pedal set up that can do what you need. Think I'm sold on the IR-2, seems
like a game changer.
Thank you so much for your feedback, I'm really happy that you appreciate the comparison!
Thank you also for sharing your findings and your experience!!!
I'm thinking the IR-2 would be my pick. Size and a compelling price point wins. I'm betting that box at the end has a new Kemper too inside 😁 Can't wait for that review and demo song. God bless and Happy New Year 🎉🎸😎👍
Thank you for sharing! Yes, you got it right!!!! Kemper player...😀
All the best for 2024 from a new subscriber
I wish you the best for your 2024!!
Thank you so much to have become part of our community!!!! It means a lot to me!!!
Excellent video as always Leo. :) I wish the sound of the IR2 was in the IR200, it sounds better to me. Thanks :)
You are welcome and I'm really happy that you appreciate the video!!!!

Ordered an IR-2. Have no idea when it will ship, but I’m excited.
Hi, thank you for sharing!!!
Good comparison. I will buy IR 2 used.😊
Thank you! Good idea...as soon as it will be available second hand...
Dude, it’s $200. Theres so much value already
can't wait for the kemper profiler. Thanks Leo, namesake friend, happy new year.
😀 happy new year to you too!!!
Great content, nicely laid out. I am still conflicted on the purchase of the Two Notes Opus or the Boss IR-200....
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the content!!!
I should do a direct comparison....😀
@@LeoGibsonGtr that would be awesome!
Dear Leo, thank you for your video! Can you check pls IR-2 together with iPad or iPhone - will it possible to use ir-2 as an audio interface for iOS ? All previous boss pedals and multi fx not friendly with iOS devices. My idea is - to use fx effects from iPad and amp from ir2.
I wonder if you get the "variation" brown sound in these?
Its the sound in the katana mk2
I found it to be a great marshall/soldano sound
Helpful comparison. I got the IR-200 because I needed to switch easily and quickly between multiple amp models and tones. The 2 foot switches were key here. You can get them used pretty close to the cost of the IR-2. Plus it sounds really good to me!
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Good point!
Thanks!
You are welcome!!!
You were right! I appreciate this video so much. Thank you!
I understand that you can use the ir2 through an amp. Do you know whether we can do the same with the IR 200? Grazie!
Hi, you are welcome, I'm really happy that you appreciate the video!!!
Yes, you can do also with the 200...just switching off the cab sim.
Thanks!!
Thanks for the great video!
Question: so can I use the IR2 as an audio interface and use it to record directly into a laptop / DAW?
Yes, thank you!
How do boss-ir2 compared to the amps in nux amp academy?
Nice!
Thanks!
Thankyou very helpful. I'm presuming that either of the Boss IR's will enable download of acoustic IRs. Do you feel there is anything inherant in the Boss design that would inhibit their ability to deliver decent acoustic sound vs the likes of Fishman, NUX, LRBaggs or even TC Electronic IR) pedals which appear to position their respective pedals towards acoustic?
Hi, you are welcome!
I think it is possible, removing the preamp simulation and just loading the IRs of your choice?
May I ask you why do you think it is impossible?
Thank you!
did not say impossible. I own no IR pedals but I intend to buy one shortly. I figured it works but wondered how acoustic guitar performs vs electric on either of the Boss IR pedals. Thanks@@LeoGibsonGtr
With the IR200 going for good prices now, that would be my recommendation. It's got loads of presets, very powerful EQ, better gain staging, a noise gate, and a decent readout so you can identify your third party IR's and your patch names. I use mine on a desktop and have it mounted at an angle which helps greatly in reading the display. I do wish it had a computer or mobile app for making the EQ adjustments faster and even copying and pasting and naming patches would be so much easier. It's mostly a pedal platform for me, but I do get very nice cleans and edge of breakup, particularly with the Tweed.
Hi, thank you for sharing!!!
GIven the popularity of IR pedals I wonder if Boss updates the IR-200 with USB-C and app support.
@@halfglassfull I can't see them updating the hardware but they could do something with firmware like possibly add a software editor and tweak the amp models. I imagine a lot of folks do not bond with their IR200 because unless you get the settings right, it can sound like crap. By settings I mean the various levels, amp gain, graphic EQ etc. I really should do a video because I finally got it down and it sounds terrific. You really need to make presets for different guitars such as Strat versus Les Paul vs active pickups.
Hi, Love you work. I know how much you love latency testing... I own a boss SY 1000, it has an insertable effects loop - but it is unusable to me because of the latency issue. I was wondering if you have tested the effects loops of any of these Roland amp/cab sims? I believe there will be a significant difference between the price ranges FX loops.
Hi, thank you so much, I'm happy you appreciate the work!
I tested the FX loop of the IR-2, the GX 100 and the GT 1000, and they are all very good...
I have never tested the latency of the SY 1000 (I don't have it)....therefore I can't tell....
Thank you for your message!
Hi Leo. I believe the latency issue on my sy-1000 was that I was using a TONEX in the loop... lol - double latency issues for sure. I have captured my boutique amps (by Jeff Andrews in Atlanta) and wanted them mixed with synth on a "simple & small" board. Instead I'm just using the modeling on the SY1000, which I'm told is similar the other Boss Modelers. Thanks so much! @@LeoGibsonGtr
Excellent! How do these compare to the amps in the GT-1000 ?
Hi, I think that the GT 1000 has all the amps included in these two units...
Thank you!
Are boss using different jacks? I finally have an IR-2 in my hands, but noticed some of the jacks feel loose, like no click/resistance when I plug a cable in. Is this normal?
Still working with tones and hoping to integrate in my setup as a preamp.
Does anyone have experience with how good or bad the IR-2 sounds when you're recording direct? I'm looking for something to replace my Strymon Iridium, but haven't seen much focus on how well it records.
Hi, may I ask you what you mean with "recording direct"?
Thanks!
Hello Leo... When you move through the amplifiers and come back, the settings have changed... I wonder why?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean...
The MDP amp models are the most important factor for why I’m getting the IR-2.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Please, clarify my doubt: clean/hi-gain from IR-2 quickly became the basis of my rig but I miss the midi function. Are these two sounds different in the IR-200?
Hi, they sound very very similar, even if not exactly the same. Here I have done a direct comparison: ruclips.net/video/Y_ZJQJCwHjA/видео.html
Thanks!
@@LeoGibsonGtr thank you Leo for the quick reply, very helpful.
how about comparing GT1000 of GT1000 core?
That end...! Come on, what's in the box!!!😂
Take a look at the label - looks like the new 'Kemper Player' pedal 🤫
Yes, Kemper Player....😀
Yes, exactly! 😀
I managed to locate an IR-2 and it arrives next week. Most places are backordered through April. Been wanting one since the Andertons video.
This is the solution I was looking for. Purchasing the Fender FR-12 to run the pedal for rehearsals.
Hi, thank you so much for sharing!
I wish the GT-1000CORE could be used as a USB audio interface with iOs and Android like the IR-2. Does the IR-200 work with mobile OSes? I'm guesing it doesn't
Hi, thank you for sharing! I'm not sure...I haven't try it...if someone knows, please drop here a message!
if it's class compliant, then it will work with android.
@@zakklee2556 right, but what we don't know is if the IR-200 is class compliant like the IR-2. The GT-1000 and GT-1000CORE are not, and require drivers.
I’ve recorded my IR 200 into my iPhone with the generic usb setting
@@h1strat Thank you for sharing!!!
Game over if the IR-2 had MIDI. 🤘
Yes, MIDI would be great in the IR2...
IR-200 has a build in Noise Gate. IR-2 has not.
Good point!
In both units, from the stock photos, I can't see printed AIRD, the name of most recent modeling tech. Why, in your opinion?
I'm not sure...but AIRD is market as mimicking the exact iteration between the amp and the cab, therefore if you use IRs it becomes less "effective".
AIRD is their IR technology. These just use regular IRs.
Leo, we only do what we do, we don't do specs, we only do cool tone brother....ears first as usual etc.
Hi, here you can find the tonal differences of the two units: ruclips.net/video/Y_ZJQJCwHjA/видео.html
IR-200 lacks "X-MOD" which is a phenomenal amp. IR-2 it is.
Yes, the X MOD is a nice amp!
Oh! Nothing about sound! The ir200 is older .... does the ir2 sound quality sound different?
Hi, for the sound I did a dedicated video, that you can check out here: ruclips.net/video/Y_ZJQJCwHjA/видео.html
Thank you!
Most who read my comments already know I found the puppy a year or 2 back...I like the new stuff and I'm tempted too, but I'm not moving any more...no need to! 🎓
Hi, thank you for sharing.
I've think there are 2-3 main issues with the IR-2 which prevent it from being one of the best guitar products ever made.
1. It should have the ability to store at least 3-4 presets even if you need a second foot switch for them. 3-4 is the sweet spot, 2 is not enough for many guitarists but it's rare for people to need more than 4 and most can get by with 3, 2 can be too limiting for a lot of people.
2. They should not have included amp models based on other real amps. These are inferior to the original Boss models and detract from the quality of the product. Sure you don't have to use them but this is where a simpler product would have been better. Even I commented on the sound comparison video that the comparison of the plexi amp model turned me off the product, it was only later that I recalled I already knew the amps sounds based on real amps were low quality and not comparable to the original models in the Boss so such a comparison does the IR-2 a disservice because the original models sound great.
3. The price is too high because of the first point. The problem is if you need more than two sounds then you need at least 1-2 boost/drive pedals adding cost and size so at that point this becomes comparable to other MFX options which offer more especially when you also factor the used market. But if this unit could store 4 or even 3 presets, then it actually would be all most guitarists need with a very small footprint and then it would be a great value.
Hi, thank you so much for sharing your findings and for your feedback!
It's a me, a mario!
MIDI.
Yes
MIDI, please make content on the use of MIDI in a floorboard.
Seems to me that about 10% of your channel subscribers use MIDI.
If you included MIDI content, then maybe it would increase your subscribers use of MIDI.
Hi, thank you for your suggestion!
I will see what I can do
Thanks!
Leo, we aren't scientists man, we are players in search for the grail of all grails is all....relax my friend!
Well, for some of us, me included, it is important to know what we can do with the gear we buy...for instance if a unit can be used as an audio interface, or if it has an headphone jack, or if it is battery powered to practice on the go, etc.
Both the tone and the tech specs are important in my opinion.
Thanks
If Boss adds bass to the IR-2: instant buy
Lack of USB-C kills the 200 for me
My bet is Kemper in the box
Don't forget effects loop and headphone jack on the IR-2.
Thank you for sharing! Yes....also for me micro usb is bad, and I love USB C...
