I'm convinced the name Daiso is Japanese for "dangerous." Because that's what that store is. You walk in and you go "Oh, hey, everything's so cheap! This is cute, and I could use this, and i know *just* who to gift this to, and I bet i could find a use for that and OMG WTF WHY IS MY RECEIPT 3 FEET LONG AND WHY IS MY TOTAL $78?!!?!?!?" 😂
I use Dawn dish soap for my makeup brushes. Bc it’s made to cut through grease, it does a great job with the oils from makeup on your brushes. It doesn’t make my brushes rough or damage them in any other way. 😁
I love the idea of the little washer for barbie cloths!!!! I would have loved it growing up. Also ther is a thing you can plug into the wall and then you put the other end into what ever takes batteries. I use them for my fairy lights.
I could see the little silicon bottle with brush possibly being useful for eggwash or melted butter as well when baking or preparing some bread dish etc
@Beezer.D.B. I've hardly ever or even never used a paper liner in a spring form when making cakes, I just use butter and finely shredded coconut (or breadcrumbs) to coat the pan and the cake just lets go super easily! Only time I use paper is for cake in a brownie type pan or for cupcakes, but for the latter it's because it's easier to store and hold the cupcakes with than without
I really enjoyed this video. I love shopping in Daiso. It’s just hard to get help when you don’t speak Japanese. Both the toy washer and the plunger gadget would come in handy for someone who washes their shoelaces, hair ribbons , a handkerchief , those eyeglasses wipes or itty bitty stringy undies. I have not shopped there in a while but I might have to drop by and look for some Christmas gifts 🎁
Can attest to the brush cleaner. I only quit using it because every time I go its sold out, so I gave up ETA: if you don't want to bother with the little machine, daiso also sells a little washing egg. It has several textures to wash brushes, and can even be used to get stains out of clothing. I love my little washing egg.
I used to shop at Daiso when I was in California. That was my "go-to" store for my essentials and arts and crafts stuff. * Sighs * I miss stores like that.😞
@@evilbunnyofhorror it's true. The Midwest doesn't have Daiso. It has regular dollar stores, just not Daiso or Ichiban Kan , another Japanese dollar store.
@@evilbunnyofhorror We live about an hour north of Seattle and just had one open up 10 minutes from us! Its nice not having to drive and hr+! I hope they decide to open up where you are now! They're so fun!!
I miss you doing the Emmy eats series. It was so fun watching you eat food from around the world and hearing your honest reaction to what was sent. 😢 please bring it back PLEASE.
In Thailand, DAISO is known as the 60 baht store (about $1.70 at current xchange rates). I believe everything, unless marked with a higher price (and there are many items like that) is 60 baht. Every local area has what we call 20 Baht stores (about 60 cents) with most items 20 baht and some things a bit higher. I love DAISO just because browsing there is a trip but if when we need household items like clothes hangers or plastic ware..it's usually a better deal at the 20 baht local shops.
I live in NorCal and we have Daiso here so when I was in BKK I totally dropped in and had fun looking at the similarities and differences between US and Thai Daiso.
The fluffer/whipped container can also be used as a pickle picker. Pour a jar of pickles in the container, then add the pickles on too of the tray. When you want a pickle, just lift the handle and pick a pickle. Less mess, and you are not fumbling around with your fingers or tongs to get that one pickle. 😂
I love Daiso because the products are generally much higher quality and better designed than those from other “dollar” stores. We don’t have Daiso stores in the UK so when I moved to New Zealand I was so excited to buy lots of household items from my local Daiso. I have one of those fluffy headbands except mine has cat ears! 😸
Thank you for doing this episode. It was very nostalgic. Some of my earliest memories on RUclips are of you trying Japanese snacks and filming on a laptop (I’m remembering it to be a laptop but I could be wrong). I was 10-12 years old and now I’m going on 22. Thank you for all the memories and dedication!
I bought a flexible brush similar to the one in the video (bristles are denser, and the plastic is gray silicone), and I use it to scrub vegetables like potatoes.
My lovely wife and I just moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and we've already been to a few Daiso stores. There's one right down the street from where we live in Irving. They have some interesting and nifty stuff..!
We have Daisy here in SE Asia as well. I’ve been in the ones in Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines, but the ones in Japan are stocked even better! I just got back from Japan, with a set of 6 bamboo bowls for less than $12. The yen is a bit weaker to the dollar right now, so even in Malaysia, where it used to be about $1.50 for the main store, it is now less than $1.25. Their cooling racks and BBQ items are quite good quality!
I live in South Korea (Originally from the U.S.) and Daiso is a dream compared to our dollar stores back home. You can get quality products for under 5,000 won.
My favorite things there are the little bitty bento sauce bottles. They are so great for lunches and I plan on using them for liquids when I travel. They come in so many sizes from tiny to 4-4 ozs, they are awesome!
I gotta go out to my local daiso again soon... it's always the best... My favorite finds in the past are the disney laundry sort bags and sticky notes and cards for my office, a stuff brontosaurus for me and a triceratops for my cousin and mini office chairs for my barbie collection ... Its the best place for little holiday gifts
I've noticed that in a lot of anime, they will show people hanging the laundry, or you'll just see it in the background or whatnot. I thought it was just for nostalgia and a certain look, but now I know it's actually very common there.
Whoa! I've watched your channel ever since my friend and I stumbled upon your Popin cookin videos back in 2012! And I think this is maybe one of the first times I've seen you without bangs! 😂💖🎀 You putting on that headband was something so small but its so crazy seeing how much ive always associated you with your iconic hairstyle.
It kinda makes no sense. You can't touch food with it or you'd have to clean it, may as well use a brush. And if it's for lubricating a pan those bristles wouldn't work that well, and now you've got oily bristles like just chillin in your cupboard. I've heard spray bottles get gross after awhile too but at least it's way more sanitary and effective
A popular washing machine in the RV “nomads” lifestyle is very similar to your toy one, only bigger. And of course more durable so that you can actually wash a small load of clothes in it. Many have a spin dryer (I’m thinking Salad Spinner? 😂) built in right next to the washer that spins so well that many reviewers say the clothes are _almost_ dry. Most nomads carry a fold up expanding clothes rack for actual drying though. Very cool. 😎
This is the exact spin washer I bought during lockdown. The spin dryer side doesnt work anymore, something snapped inside it, but it worked great for a while!
@@IjeomaThePlantMama - I’m not surprised that the spin dry side broke… from what I saw, that sucker spins so fast, it really is like a salad spinner, lol!
I use to love going to the 100 yen store when I was stationed in Japan. So many knick-knacks still in my house from years ago. At that time 100 yen was equal to 1 dollar.
The fact that Emmy had to buy foundation and a sponge just for this video, shows how perfect her skin is. I totally thought she had at least a little bit on in videos
Ah - about the ”bread stamp”…. perhaps if you make the stamp in a slice that is a little bit frozen, the mark will stay down and be more visible after it is toasted 😊
@emmymade Emmy!! Omg, I have to do some laundry now and I love to play a video in the background when I’m doing chores so I opened RUclips and was so happy to see you have a new video! It always provides such a little spark of joy and happiness in my day when there is a new one. Anyway, I know this is rambling and random but it’s late and I’ve had a couple glasses of wine 😅 😊 but I wanted to jump in and say that I recently visited the New England area with my husband and we absolutely love it and we think that is where we will be moving in a couple of years. We still need to scope out Vermont and New Hampshire, and I was wondering when we do make that trip in the next 6 months if it would be at all possible to meet up with you to give you a hug and take a selfie because I have been a fan of yours for at least six years now!?! I have learned so much from your videos, and not to mention the hours of joyful and wholesome entertainment they have given me!! I would love to thank you in person for that and buy you a cup of coffee. It is the absolute least that I could do! ❤
Great video, to show all these cute things (The cutest thing is Emmy herself of course, even without the pom band) Emmy just said to a lot ofthese items that "I don't really have any use for this" which is a bit of a shame, would be nicer if they were things Emmy thinks she could use
15:05 i find it amazing how pans similar to that are used in countries around the world, countries which seemingly have very little or no historical connection to each other... Japan has _takoyaki,_ (southern) India has _neiyyappam,_ Denmark has _Abelskiver_ made from apples, (anyone from Denmark here, feel free to correct me on this) and the US has 'cake pops'... and its funny how each thinks that pan is unique for each item

I may as well just give Daiso my wallet at the door. It’s worse than Target that way 💸💸💸
😂😂😂😂Yes so true.. I buy some stuff I don’t need.
I use Dawn dish soap for my makeup brushes. Bc it’s made to cut through grease, it does a great job with the oils from makeup on your brushes. It doesn’t make my brushes rough or damage them in any other way. 😁
Same! I've almost always used hand-dishwashing detergent, I feel it cleans better than makeup brush detergent.
I love how adorably excited Emmy gets over the silliest things:)
I love the idea of the little washer for barbie cloths!!!! I would have loved it growing up. Also ther is a thing you can plug into the wall and then you put the other end into what ever takes batteries. I use them for my fairy lights.
Did anybody just gasp at how cute Emmy looks in that headband! 100% gorgeous baby doll adorable!
She looks like a doll you could buy in a konbini.
LOVE a good dollar store haul!
I could see the little silicon bottle with brush possibly being useful for eggwash or melted butter as well when baking or preparing some bread dish etc
Or cupcake pan! Though I would probably prefer paper liners. I’ve ruined many cupcake pans over the years by not using liners. ☺️
@Beezer.D.B. I've hardly ever or even never used a paper liner in a spring form when making cakes, I just use butter and finely shredded coconut (or breadcrumbs) to coat the pan and the cake just lets go super easily! @@ReyOfLight- That makes sense because coconut would contain a lot of oil still! I think anyway. Would be tasty too! 😋

Yay!!!💫
Yes! As she was showing how the soap agitator works I was thinking how good it would be for egg whites.
I have always been fascinated by Japan. Its astounding how much thought and design goes into the products they make.
Oh Japan is decades ahead of the rest of us. While America is still living in 2023(well part of it) Japan is living in 2050 lol
Japan is the promised land of engineers 😄

Beauty blenders are supposed to expand with water. Shrinkage is usually a sign of a improper one

I think Emmy got these items from Daiso Online. They ship within the U.S. It's not free shipping though.

Omg.. how adorable are you with that headband!!! ❤
Here in Italy we also put the clothes outside to dry them (actually some people use the dryer machine but the most prefer the old way)
It's always good to see your daiso videos! I'm so glad Dallas has like three

This would be great for New Years
that oil dispenser would be a great tool to put oil or butter on a turkey
I live in Vancouver, BC and we have a Daiso. The quality of the items for the price is just SO much better than typical Dollar Stores. I LOVE it.

the toast stamp is made for japanese bread. That bread is thicker and fluffier, i guess it works best on that bread
You dont actually need fabric softner. It actually makes your towles not work very well.
Do you happen to know if the foamer is food grade, since it isn't technically made for eggs?

Best if you keep double AA’s battery as back up, as in case of emergency. But these items you found is cute.
I think the egg white foamer would be better at getting all the soap and makeup residue from the beauty sponge :)
I have had the little silicone oil applicator jars ... they gum up. I much prefer a little spray bottle - I have one for EVOO and one for avocado oil!
