    At 11:10, Federico mentions that #Evernote will not bring back the Local Notes feature. I had to explain this because I have a sense that people may think he's talking about offline notes.: vladcampos.com/2024/03/05/what-was-the.html

      Vlad, you only have access to offline as long as you do not log out. If you do, you have to have be online to log in again. I would love it if we did not have this restriction.

    Federico said "Tags are a very niche feature and not many people use them". That is the most surprising thing I heard on this interview. To me, tags are Evernote's best feature and probably the reason I use Evernote instead of some of the competing products. I can't imagine creating a note without any tags.

    • @vladcampos
      @vladcampos  3 месяца назад +2

      I also see a lot of potential on tags, but to be fair, he's not the first person from Evernote I heard saying something like that. All CEOs, from Libin to Small, mentioned at some point how niche tags are.

    • @NicoVeenkamp
      @NicoVeenkamp 2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, same here. My whole productivity system is build around the usage of tags. It so helps you tie notes together on a certain subject or location but are distributed over various notebooks for some reason.

    Two random feature requests. 1. A Format Painter option like in Word etc would be very useful; 2. Internal links within a note (like web Anchors)

    I love the collapsible sections for hiding stuff I am not currently working on in a large note. I use it often now. I am grateful for the auto formatting with # ## ### for large, medium, and small headings, but I would also like other keyboard shortcuts for making the current line a heading. I notice that Ctrl+Shft+0,1,2,3,4 are available for Windows, with Cmd+Shift available for Mac.

    So great to see that Evernote gets a lot of work (I remember all the "the end is near!" when it was sold) and hopefully it will be an everlasting software. One thing I would like to see is the Apple calendar intergration because I do not use Google calendar or Outlook.

    • @vladcampos
      @vladcampos  3 месяца назад +1

      Before the acquisition, I remember the old team talking about starting with Google because it was the most popular, and then moving on to the others. So, maybe we'll still see Apple Calendar there. However, now that you watched Federico explain that they catalog everything people ask for, I think you should ask for that on Twitter 😉

    I've been back using Evernote, not minding to pay as long as the value increases. The UI has been freshened up which is nice. I'm starting to love the integration between notes and tasks. It sounds like Bending Spoons cares about the product so that's good. Products need financing. They can't live on free. It's hard though when you've been used to free and all of a sudden the rug is pulled out, but I don't know if there would've been a softer way of doing that for past users. How much notice did Spoons give? I forget. Anyway, keep up the good work. If I could make a request here please make your iOS widgets interactive.

    I like Vlad and his channel. I'm not a fan of paying double to bring back old features. Subscribers are on the hook to do something every application does as part of their roadmap. I like the AI cleanup, however nothing else seems to have changed materially. #15years

    Please, PLEASE...
    1. Bring back the ability to put focus on a folder or subfloor and then scan a document into that location. It costs me so much more time now.
    2. Fix Import. It doesn't always go to the correct folder. It seems to land in the default notebook. Also, where is the option to delete the file in the source folder after it has been successfully imported? So much frustration with this loss of functionality and time expressed in the Community forums and it had previously been marked to be fixed.
    If you say you listen to user feedback, you must know we want the Legacy functionality back that we used for well over two decades.

    Can there be a dropbox integration with Evernote for the file feature coming soon?

    • @vladcampos
      @vladcampos  3 месяца назад

      It doesn’t look like the proposed Files will have anything to do with Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. It seems to be just another way to interact with the files we already have in our notes.

    I'd bet my house that the sudden surge of communication and tweets is related to the fact they've suddenly raised the price of the Personal Subscription by +75%, forcing many longtime users like me to decide whether I'm going to hold on to my little-used account anymore, or migrate to Coda or Notion.
    And that communication is a smart move, because old users like me don't know all the new features being added. Collapsible headings is huge for me. That plus the AI Search is almost tempting me to migrate my client documentation/notes back to Evernote from Coda...

    Oh Evernote Evernote... R.I.P. my beloved tool, I've used you since probably 2011, I've watched all your phases, the early ones were wild - remember "I'm building 100 years company!" from Phil? You've lost your vision a long time ago, bouncing from buyer to buyer. The writing was on the wall for many years, I guess. You've deprecated some good features and added some shiny nonsense. But only when you've made this crazy "50 notes" limit I've realized that it is finally time to move on. It's a sad feeling to see your good friend struggling for so long...

      @@pompom6675 They need to re-introduce a more affordable plan for the masses. Their base plan is very expensive now and will surely prevent many people from renewing, or ever subscribing. Since their free plan is so limited, it's going to prevent many new users from even trying it. Bad for business.
