AVALANCHE have a prominent place within the lore of the original Final Fantasy 7 and they also feature within the Final Fantasy 7 Remake... but due to much of their history featuring in Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, a Japanese-exclusive mobile game, its not gained much prominence.
Within this video, we will run-through the Origins of AVALANCHE in Cosmo Canyon, how it changed after being led by Elfé and then Fuhito and its second incarnation at the hands of Barret Wallace.

Would be cool if they do make him a Cetra, to show how different descendants are dealing with hearing voices of the planet/the dead during the time of VII way post era of the Cetra. Or they could make his wife a Cetra, possibly related to Ifalna.
@@lookhowshegobbledthat Yeah, his wife is a big question mark because she never really got any development. This can be their wild card to Marlene playing a bigger role in the future games, especially the ending. Because she could help summoning Holy, and other things. It all depends on how they will develop all the elements they've built through the years.
The novel after Advent Children with Aerith and Sephiroth living in the lifestream has major applications for where the story could be going.
@@Nero_PR Yeah, they could go either way. I do prefer Dyne (unknowingly) being Cetra tho because the difference between how Aerith and Dyne cope with it would be a cool thing to explore. Then again, Barret probably would've known about it.
Marlene being Cetra would add a sense of hope for the future so I'd here for that.
This was interesting. I love the Corel Prison theme played in the background on piano. So sad yet peaceful
It's always nice seeing these lore videos. I only played the original game, not any of the side games for ff7, so there's a lot of the world that I don't know
Sadly the vast majority of Avalanche's backstory is relegated to a mobile phone game that doesn't exist anymore
@@JesseColton yeah. is a shame. I'm hoping the remake 'series' covers all the games (apart from DOC). side quests that reveal the story of kalm etc would be worth investing time. cosmo canyons story in more depth. could make for some very good side quests.
@@Elzmack91 There's actually a fanmade version of Before Crisis made in RPG maker using the original script and sprites. It's not perfect but it's a testament to the fan dedication
Opinion: I disagree with the fact that Avalanche became no worse than Shinra with regards to their actions, there is one small difference and that is they're trying to protect the planet. Did their actions have bad consequences? Absolutely. But I wouldn't put them on the same scale with Shinra.

Both shinra and avalanche are ruining ppls lives for the sake of "good" experiments,mass murder, pollution, poverty, terrorism,fear. Honestly two sides of the same coin. Thats why the planet wants humans gone
@Chris Well, from my perspective you're right but some peoples would argue that exploiting the ressources of the planet agressively increases the comfort of peoples to the point where it can save lifes (hospitals wouldn't be as effective if they haven't accessed to advanced energies and technologies, for example).
It's kinda complicated because that's the eternal question of "Do we want to survive at all cost or do we want to respect the planet and follow its rules".
Man Barret's story is gonna be heartbreaking in HD
New players with now understand why he is so angry at Shinra.
It would've been cool if they mentioned the higher ups of Avalanche HQ. We only know Barrett, Jessie, Biggs, Wedge, and irrelevant members. The higher ups of The Watch are a mystery too.
Guess we'll find that out in a new wutai war

Spoiler: it is Rufus who bailed The Turks and appoint Tseng as Turks new leader and sworn them to loyal to Shinra (only Rufus) That's why Tseng and Turks are so loyal to Rufus

In before crisis it was more like Tseng was leader after Veld simply because he was next in line. And that happened while Rufus was still under house arrest so I don't think Rufus had anything to do with it. President Shinra accepts that the remaining Turks were just trying to stop Zirconaide, and they are forgiven after Tseng "shot" the traitor Veld.
This was really interesting. I really hope Square will remake all of this (Before crisis & Crisis Core) for dlc.
Dude, it took em 5 years just to make the midgar section of the story. At that rate it's gonna take like 60 fuckin years to complete everything

Avalanche! Hell yeah! I personally loved Final Fantasy 7 because more than anything their world was very reminiscent of our own. You felt in control of your own story as you navigated the plot only to witness tragedy after tragedy that you couldn’t prevent. But everyone still fights on, never giving up.
I was there in the beginning of this wonderful channel with this wonderful couple who’ve created something very Special here. They’ve grown much since then. Guys we have to share these videos more. They’re WAY BETTER than most of the other ones!

Yup! And the AVALANCHE here is the same AVALANCHE HQ in the Remake as seen with the AVALANCHE Troopers costume design being exactly how they look like in Before Crisis.
I knew some of the stuff from FF7 but not much around 7. Thanks for expanding my knowledge.

I have a question for this, though: I any of this even canon anymore? After playing Remake, I don't think we can be sure that it is...
I think it's still canon but there are sure are changes. In the remake, the original AVALANCHE (the one they call HQ) is still intact and Barret's group in the slums is a part of it and his group isn't just limited to Barret, Tifa, and the trio, but it also includes three named members (but never shown members) and many members that we didn't know the names but were all killed during the fight for the sector 7 plate. And btw, the AVALANCHE HQ Troopers' design is the same as how they look like in the Before Crisis mobile game. Looks like they're really aiming to incorporate the other games in the Remake.
It was nice seeing this video. Never got a chance to play Before Crisis since I was never that big on mobile gaming. I really hope that either in the next game or through DLC we can get a more expanded look on Avalanche as a whole since it seems the main force of the group is still active in the Remake and apparently has strong ties with Wutai. It'd actually be kind of cool if Yuffie is secretly a part of Avalanche in the Remake.

I'm generally not a fan of rehashes and remakes, and this one definitely went balls to the wall at the end, but I can make an exception here. What the game does with the characters, the ones barely explored especially, is some of my favorite storytelling ever, and I say that as someone who wasn't the greatest fan of the original FFVII(despite it being the first game I ever played). I dreaded the news of hearing that not only was there going to be FFVII(again, again again), but they were turning a few hours into a few dozen. I can admit I was wrong to judge on that one. Probably easily going to be my Game of the Year.

Just thinking about it, and learning about all of this lore. And having played DoC and Crisis Core, watched Advent Children.
I know realize why it took them so long to make Episode 1 of the remake. And I am now ok with however long it takes for them to make 2 and 3 (or even a 4th if needed)
They want to tell way more than just the OG game. And I loved the remake how they were able to retell the story with way more in it.

As far as we know Avalanche must save planet & Barret team's independant cell. I'm glad Nomura expands story. Plus with what we know now, pretty soon Avalanche & Sephiroth will be involved in new WUTAI WAR vs Shinra.Cool the ancient, animal & merc (aerith,red & cloud) joined Avalanche.
I want to hear an extended version of the alternate Avalanche theme of FFVII Remake at the part in Ch. 17 when you have to follow Barret and the gang out of Aerith’s old Shinra room? I love that version. It’s smoother and sounds like this but the chords are different in places and there isn’t a trumpet as much.
Barret and Avalanche is definitely more fleshed out in the Remake. As a matter of fact because of how things end.... no telling how the story will go now. Also we may not see part 2 of the story maybe a year or two later. Hopefully not too long. Lol!

I have this theory that no one seemed to talk about yet, figured I'd give the tip for you as I think it'd make a great video... I think Marlene is an ancient, here me out... In Ch.3 Marlene asks if the people from the Sector 8 reactor explosion "went back to the planet", which is exactly what Aerith used to say as a child to Elmyra when someone died. Later on in Ch.12, in the train graveyard, Aerith gets a vision of Marlene for some unexplained reason - perhaps indicating that they have a link that only Cetra share. Ch.13 shows the strange connection Marlene has with Aerith as they touch. In the Epilogue, Marlene is seen getting a sort of message about her father from one of Aerith's flowers. Let me know what you think and if it's worth making a video about!
You know it's so cool that the Ancient joins Avalanche. She does fit the organization sinxe she wants to protect both planet and life.
So Fuhito is like a more extreme version of John Brightling (from the Tom Clancy Rainbow Six novel).
So In the remake the original version of avalanche is still around and barret group is the ones that want progress to excel right

There are two possibilities. It's either the past was affected when Cloud and the gang defeated the Whispers, or Zack was actually the first one to defy destiny and all the changes happened because Zack survived. I kinda prefer the later but I think the first one is what really happened.

There is an FF7 book called ‘The Kids Are Alright: A Turk’s Side Story’, where a bit more information about Kadaj is given. Kadaj only appears briefly, however.
You left out this Elfhed girl how did she go away? You said she got weaker but nothing else about her or her father. Rather important details, I would have liked to have heard about.

So bizarre that I completely missed out on all this side-matieral. Like, what was I doing when these came out that I didn't go pick them up? Looks like I have a new backlog to get through lol.
Like, the level of out of touch I am is that when in the Remake we see that Barret's Avalance crew is just a smaller part of a larger organization was completely new to me and I thought this was something invented by the Remake.
EDIT: Looked into it a bit more and I guess I shouldn't feel bad since Before Crisis was a Japanese pre-smartphone mobile exclusive game!

Probably in a future FF7 remake game. There is also Marlene's real father Dyne who committed suicide whose gone insane in the Barrett's story

The story in part II will not be exactly the same as the original, so anything can happen.
I'm not sure how it's an untold story considering there's a whole game made about it?
They aren't terrorists IMO, more like vandals, Shinra were the ones who actually destroyed the reactor to frame Avalanche. Eco-vandals would be the appropriate term (if it exists), not eco-terrorists.
That Avalanche is bigger than the gang did not add much in this first part of the remake.

Since the surviving Turks went into hiding, minus the team that we know, chances are the older Turks are the ones leading the current Avalanche. They label Barret's group as radicals because they didnt want another Fuhito event, like in Corel when they infiltrate the reactor.
The sheer number of retcons and convoluted plot points shoehorned into the original game's backstory leave a bad taste in my mouth.
They seem to contradict each other at times, and that's what really confuses and puts me off, even as I play the remake. It's like they want to hide any possibility that Avalanche really were dangerous terrorists, and just go the one-dimensional route that "Shira bad".
