Three houses is absolutely amazing, and despite having a few plot holes, does a good job with making everything seem realistic while attaching you to the plot. The combat is also great in general and the gimmicks are both simple to understand while complex enough to be widely useful. Then when you contrast that to Engage, it feels like a cheap FE fanfiction created to appeal to people wishing for proper remakes of older titles. Three Houses nearly doubled the sales of Awakening and brought in a huge audience of people hoping for a compelling story that Engage simply didn't even bother trying to create.
