This show for little girls has better characters than Game of Thrones.
Actually it isn't just for females the action and character designs can be for males as well in the original She Ra actually got a lot of attention from both males and females while He-Man, She-Ra's literal brother almost exclusively got attention from the male side of the spectrum.
I'm literally a 17 year old teenage boy and I watch this on Netflix.

In the hot tub scene, Bow has a binder. Also "I'm like the only one here who's not a princess" and at the end, when all the princesses glow with rainbow power, Bow glows a little bit too. He's definitely trans (I think I heard that the writers confirmed that Perfuma is trans too? But there isn't in-show evidence that I'm aware of)
ALSO, the way Madame Razz talks about "my Mara" kind of hints that she was married to Mara, the last She-Ra from 1000 years ago. What I'm saying is that this is a hella gay show

@@Tentegen I'm not a fan of that ship, but they definitely know each other exists. Scorpia drew a picture of the Pentagon working of them and Catra holding hands, and according to Entrapta's "data", Scorpia is her best friend.

I disagree. I have a heart for some queer/gay romantic readings of the show (Bow and Seahawk, Scorpia is definitly gay to me, I wanna see more of Netossa and Spinerella and Bows dads). But then again: I find it refreshing to not have romance as a centre. It's closest to a cast full of aromantic canon characters I expect to see in the next years. I haven't seen this ever before and I crave for that.

Honestly, when i learned one another one of my childhood shows was having a remake, i wasn't too fond of the idea. I thought it would be just another remake amongst the other dozens of remakes from the past few years, but i was pleasantly surprised. It's more of a parade than a remake, it takes the original premise, and makes it into a much more diverse and really beautiful cartoon. Having a strong woman protagonist was pretty crazy back when she-ra first became a thing, and now, with this day in age, they did it again with even more diverse characters. It is once again sticking out from the crowd with lgbt characters and people of color. I even wonder if there will be a trans character, as that is even more tedious than gay characters because it is harder to understand.
Biggest complaint is the sailor moon-like transformation sequence.

Not exactly an MLP reference- the term existed before MLP, it's just that MLP were just the first to use it to refer to "unicorn with wings" rather than it just being "unicorn" in another language.
But yeah, it'd definitely be a good shorthand for unicorn pegasus. The closet I've seen before is "unipeg", which is kind of awkward sounding.

i always enjoy watching videos dissecting tv shows and movies i love, but i never realised so many people find flashbacks boring/annoying/etc lol, they were and still are one of my favourite things in media and most of my favourite episodes/movies involve flashbacks 😅

On reflection I think it's just that I got *so invested* in Catra and Adora's relationship that all the other ones just felt bland by comparison. I still hope they receive more love in the upcoming seasons. We got some choice moments with Scorpia and Catra in particular in S2, but I don't feel like there was enough of them over in (and I will never get over this name) "Best Friend Squad."

At one point at the end of the show on Netflix I thought that Hordack liked Entrapta

I think Scorpia and Catra might end up being together at the end, just to be honest. It's so obvious that she is in love with Catra. It's just going to take time for Catra to warm up to her.
Scorpia is so patient and kind. I think Catra needs that. Catra cares a lot for Adora but she's got a lot of poisonous feelings towards her, even before Adora became She-ra, so I'm unsure if that would be a very healthy relationship.

It’s pretty darn clear, considering that (I forgot the episodeeeee) scorpia constantly talked about how hard she was trying to trying to impress her, she also said that she loved her, so it’s definitely a canon thing that scorpia May end up with catra in the end.

The whole reason I got interested in this show was the Catra and Adora split. I normally do not like it when the initial conflict is a strong disagreement between two characters but this show did such a good job at making it feel real rather than a lazy trope.

The ensemble aspect of this show is my favorite part of it all.

I've watched all of the series, and honestly when Netossa said "My wife" I was surprised cuz they never specified their relationship but now that I watched this I noticed that they have each other's chokers witch is a nice little hint that I didn't notice until now. I love that!! So not only are they one of the first LGBT couples in a kids show but also the first married couple!! 😍🥰

I agreed with everything you said up to that last sentence. Glimmer and Adora seem to be more like best friends or sisters. I just don't see any romantic tension between them. And it seems more likely that Glimmer would have feelings for Bow.

This is a real nice video essay format, I like how you linked everything back to the effectiveness of the narrative and the role that different elements played in the storytelling. It also felt really unpretentious and streamlined which is surprisingly rare for a video essay about a cartoon.

The underlying problem of the show is it is inconsistent and shoe horns convenient resolutions when it backs itself into a corner in order to make a point. It’s also often undermines its own points by characters being dismissive of the larger problems. Let me explain, it seeks to push the importance of feeling, emotions and communication, which is all well and good, and important, but overlooks or dismisses the core values and concerns that drive these feelings in the first place. Princess Glimmer is a prime example of choosing her desire to be with her friends but fails to see the suffering it causes her mother even after a valuable and grounding lesson should have been learned after being kidnapped by the horde. The reality of how dangerous and consequences of her actions are not addressed. Compare this kind of story telling with the fairy tales of Europe often with gruesome and horrible consequences, all to serve the goal of teaching important lessons. Overall, between copying avatars’ greater responsibility, and the points made above it feels lacking in the story telling department. Honestly, Catra seems like the only dynamic character who thinks for herself and isn’t a trope. Maybe the show she be called Catra, champion of the horde! Might get better reception. Interesting analysis of the show but needs to address the negatives with the positives, not just all positive.
