Here are a couple tips for people about to do their first recone: Clothes pins work really well for clamping. They are super cheap, just a couple bucks for a million of them, give or take. Use some painter's tape to make yourself a little handle for the dust cap to allow perfect placement. I met the guy from EMF at a show in Newport, TN. He was a little busy with something and wasn't very talkative, but based on the 2-3 minutes I talked to him, he seemed like an okay guy. He seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth though. I haven't seen any new videos from him in several months.
you forgot to put the heat, shrink tubing on the tensile leads that you soldered but still amazing job though great video very entertaining I enjoyed watching it.
Great job Jerry I got 4 audio pipe bdc4 waiting on recones I took them to clip city and they took that dirty power till they gave up so ppl can say what they want about audio pipe I will run them anytime any day!!!!!

hey man, I have a question I have a dual 1ohm voice coil sub but was told that a dual 2ohm sub is better for using as single sub, can I switch ohms when doing the recone? can I just order the 2ohm recone instead of the 1 ohm recone kit or is that not how it works? idk if it will help but I have a 12x v3 sundown

shim the coil properly, use a good bead of glue, lots of clamps. let it dry .. don't forget to remove shims before glueing on dust cap.. and make sure basket is really clean
Hey bro. I applied new woofer foam since they were dried out. The subwoofer rattles at high volumes. No visible sights of damage anywhere. Other speaker is fine. Is it possible the woofer foam is not centered right and the every time there is high bass the cone hits against something? I am not sure.
? If by accident the paint on the basket chipped off and then install the push terminals. Wouldn't it electrify the basket, then short out the voice coil?
I found your video while searching on what people use to glue the speaker back . My sub started to fall apart in my jeep..its a kicker solar baric l5 10 in..the sub started to come unglued around the edges and make a flap noise..i noticed it amd was just going to trash it. But i had some flex glue lating around amd decided to use that to see if it would work..what do you guys think about using flex glue in a pinch? I wouldnt do it to a nice speaker but this little guy i had no issue with
I recone a zv5 12 but the problem I had was the glue would not stick. I use 2 part apoxy. The spider would not stick but the surround stay in place. That was glue with E6000 I don't know what happen with the spider
Subs are easy when the kit comes complete but it’s a different story when you need to glue spider to coil, cone to coil etc lol Jerry get CA glue with activator. Use it on the spider landing like you just did but well pressing on the cone spray the activator at spider landing and 30 seconds later the spider is glued and dried 100% just to save time with clamping the slider

I've did 1 of those myself. There was a big chunk of metal in the gap larger than the space between the top plate and the pole 😅

So I’m not trying to ask a dumb question but flipping the surround up while adding the glue doesn’t damage the surround in anyway?

What brand of ca glue do you use
? Couldn't you have soldered the connectors on before you put the recone in place, then taped them out of the way when you glue the spiders back down?
My team 18 is a week old and has a loose shorting ring inside. RS wants me to cut it open even though it’s a week old!

Yes it would. The paint on the basket is the insulation that keeps them "dead".
I have a 15 in America bass 4000 watt sub that blew up. How much you charge to do the same thing to it?
You will need a recone. directronix is a could source for a recone kit for your sub.
i can’t find a recone kit for my specific sub. can i just use any 18” recone kit ? i have an ascendant audio smd 18. someone please help me out.

e6000 is what I use but just test it with the flex glue.. it might hold

Where can I get the glue to hold the spider down? The inner spider unglued from around the coil. Thy sill work , but I would like to fix it.
