      I use them over my glasses the same way I do when at a theater with 3D glasses. You will likely need the extra long nosepads and it won't work well with overly large frames. Mine are by no means small frames, and they work very well together.

In my household that applies to a really cheap convertible Laptop with a Celeron N3350 chipset and my HP ZBook from work. • @DavidAddis
      @DavidAddis  Год назад +2

      That might be an option on Android, but on other devices it doesn't use the 3DoF tracking at all, it just renders to the full display, locked to the head, all the time. On Mac, you can either use Nebula to keep it in the same position (like I demonstrated), or close Nebula and use it in the same way as other devices.

    Concern to the firmware updating (I have the glasses, and in addition to that, the USB-C to HDMI adapter) - is this easy to to, and safe? I have the glasses now for two months (ordered from Japan), and I am a little afraid of bricking. SD works totally fine, and Switch, Iphone, Ipad and my Laptop, but consoles and other devices don´t work with the adapter. What kind of dongle device are you using for the switch in the vid? Does this show 1080p or just the 720p from the display? Thanks for sharing!

    • @DavidAddis
      @DavidAddis  Год назад +1

      Hi Alf. I’ve updated the firmware several times now, it seems quite safe, but I suppose it does carry some inherent risk. I haven’t heard of anyone bricking their device by doing it, but it may be possible.
      It might look like it’s working fine with the Steam Deck but still limited to 30Hz. You can enable the performance display on SD if you want to check.
      I’m using a 3rd party dongle from Amazon for my Switch, it outputs 1080p video just like the official dock, I think there are a few manufacturers that make these now. 🙂

      Depends on your vision, I'm not 20/20 anymore but I don't need glasses and I find 125% scaling in Windows to be the way to go, while my gf prefers 150%. Thankfully more apps and websites scale properly nowadays. You can do no scaling but it's just tiresome in the long run, at least for me. Also bright objects on dark background are harder to read due to a bit of halo/bloom effect inherent to this style of projection (if you have pitch black background and white letters you can make out faint shadow of it displaced. Not noticeable in other scenarios) so for best experience you should probably avoid dark mode as far as work with text is concerned and settle for normal light scheme with night mode turned on (warmer colours)

    Can you read text or use for typing or maybe for rts or 4x game?

    • @DavidAddis
      @DavidAddis  Год назад +1

      Oh yes, you can easily read text. Think of it just like a massive 1080p monitor.
      When you use it in AR mode, though (with a compatible Android phone or on Mac), the resolution will be effectively decreased as you're just using a portion of the screen, so small text will become difficult to read.

      Not easily. Technically you might be able to install the Virtual Desktop streamer on the Deck, then stream that to a Quest 2… not sure if it’s possible (yet) though.

    IM thinking of using the NReal air with my work laptop to give me better external monitors and working with them. First is this possible . second do I have to install anything on the laptop , as its a corp laptop or will the glasses just work as an additional screen . Struggling to find a video on you tube that cleary explains this use case . and am UK based. Really enjoyed the video by the way - thankyou

    • @Shadouian
      @Shadouian Год назад +1

      Yes, the glasses can be configured by your computer to act as a second monitor. If your computer doesn't have a USB C port with Alt DP mode support then you'll need to get something like the gofanco adapter shown in the video or Nreal official adapter to convert the USB C video of the glasses to HDMI. You shouldn't have to install anything on the laptop.

Almost like a wall projector feel to it. I have movie and TV apps it works perfect. I turn off auto rotate on phone and put it in my pocket so the picture stays horizontal like wide screen 👍

      I often use 900p upscaled to 1080p or 1440p on the steamdeck. Makes a big difference compared to 720p.
      But for 40$ a 720p device is indeed a great deal.

    • @smoscar

      I'd argue that Glyph's technology can be perceived as higher image quality than these glasses. Allowing that much light through the lenses and their small LCDs would only reduce the amount of perceived pixels in your eyes.
      If you want to look less dorky then yeah these are a better choice for you but if you want a true immersive experience then $40 is all you have to pay to get it.

    j5create USB4 hub has USB-C DPalt mode support and is confirmed to work with the Deck (and will also work with smartphones) - can use Nreal Airs with Deck while charging it - better solution than using HUB+adapter dongle.
