@@mikes.garage yes when i was removing it every thing broke from inside so i no longer have any where to put the slide hammer
@@garysanchez8876 sliding hammer only to remove the hub. You need to use bearing removal kit. Plese watch entire video.
@@mikes.garage thank you they didn’t have that tool at the parts store i went to, they had one that hooked up to the slide hammer, ill look in another store and try again
@@garysanchez8876 also you will need internal snap ring pliers even before the bearing remover. www.princessauto.com/en/9-in-straight-nose-internal-snap-ring-pliers/product/PA0008600694
excellent video!
Thank you for watching! 😊
Mine as good as fell off front too
Must been shot then its 18 years old good work and the 16mm caliper bolts rounded off twice smacked a 12 point 15mm on jobs a good and the anti roll bar 13mm rounded off half way cut it off with a dremal
30mm doesnt fit my touring also its not standart socket
Maybe different years car has a different nut size. Is it bigger or smaller?
@@mikes.garage its 33
My e46 rear nut is 36mm not 30
Interesting
I think different years has different sizes for some reason.
I think it's usually based on engine sizes.. The 330 and the m3 have bigger bearings and bigger hub nuts, I have a 330ci and mine is a 36 double hex
Hi Mike I'm having my bearing changed soon and noticed you have the hub kit included, can I get away with just having the bearing replaced? Many thanks
Hi Paul, sure you can just replace the bearing. You just going to need to separate hub out of bearing completely, as you can see it at the end of this video.
@@mikes.garage Ah that's brilliant thanks for your reply and great video 👍🏿😎
@@paulkett8414 Thank you for watching!
BMW E90 (M24 hub nut is 145Nm + 45 degrees?) I understand the torque setting to be 259Nm.
For BMW e90 torque setting 259 Nm. I have it in description below video.
Прикольно,дякую
Спасибо за просмотр!
Do u have the link website of the box of wheel bearing and hub
Rockauto.com
I wont need the Bearing Separator Puller if I get the sliding hammer set?
Yes, you don't need bearing separator puller, but you still need Wheel Hub Drive Bearing Removal Install Service Tool Kit
@@mikes.garage Yep, thanks :)
Brilliant tutorial thank you so much.
Thank you so much for watching!
What country/region is this? Everything is unbelievably rusty!
Calgary, Canada
@@mikes.garage Thanks! I was wondering haha
hey man good work
Thank you!
@MIKES GARAGE please get me the link to bearing and hub kit I cant find it anywhere
Also what is the tourqe spec
I bought my parts from Rockauto.com. This is depends on a car year if you can buy like a kit. Sometimes you need to buy parts separate.
Do you mean rear axle nut torgue? If yes, 184 ft-lbs (250Nm)
This is more accurate: M27 nut, tighten to 310 lbs-ft/420 Nm; M24 nut, tighten to 184 lbs-ft/250 Nm.
If using jack stands make sure the stands are actually touching the car. Whe pulling the huns with a slide hammer dont use your wheel bolts use a spare set as those will mushroom. Ask me how I know.
Freaking great video. Subscribing right now. Will come to you first, next time I need a tutorial.
Thank you so much!
Took me about two hours thanks to this. Thanks again.
@@TheBloatedPony I'm glad my video was helpful!
Hello its possible e46 320d 150cv 2004 ? Sorry for my english from france
Hello, yes it's should be the same. Only axle nut could be 36mm instead of 30mm.
@@mikes.garage thank you ;)
How many time for 2 rear wheel bearing ?
@@elninoitalia3841 Around 4 hours
Just did everything right in ur video and my hub barely spins and when I put on my rotor it barely spins is this normal?
How was it spins before you put axle shaft back?
@@mikes.garage was still spinning pretty slow do you think it could be a bad bearing?
@@chrisizcorrupt1169 when it's new it should spins harder, but still should spins pretty good.
@@mikes.garage it spins harder but not super freely like yours in the video it spins harder than yours in the video
@@chrisizcorrupt1169 I guess it's should be fine. Drive you car for a bit and check if it's heating up or not.
What wheels are those?
This is Rial salerno wheels.
what kind/brand camera do you have ? :)
Canon 80D
I cant seem to push out my drive axle, i use the same tool as you, tighten it until it begins to bend, then i hit it with a friggin sledgehammer, no result.
So i tried heating with a blow torch and then repeated the procedure, and no result.
It reaaallly feels like ive missed a screw or something but i dont think i have
Any help would be useful! Thanks in advance
Try to spray WD40 on it and try again. You may need a bigger puller. I had to bend one puller before and then I bought one size up puller to push the axle out.
Ordered a hydrualic 5 tonne tool and it just barely came loose but finally did it! Thanks for ur reply
You are welcome! Before installing back axle, clean up all the rust and apply thin layer of grease or anti-seize on axle teeth.
Will do!
does it matter what side of the bearing to fit first?😊
No, both sides the same
thanks bro. hats off
hardest part here is the axle, had to spend 4h to remove it. don't come near without special tools for that.
It is, without tools hard to do anything :)
Nice job, you make it looks easy ;)
Thank you! Everything is up to the point 😉
