I bought an E46 330i before with 380k miles from the original owner, never replaced any bearings, only mounts and bushings, bearings where 100% good, original diff, automatic ZF auto transmission, even the leather was still on ok condition.
I did our E30 not too long ago. Very similar job. A helpful tip for DIYer's working at home is to plan your work and put the new Bearings and the cleaned or New Hubs in the freezer for a few. Maybe at a lunch break. Do you have a tool number for the Axle Draw Tool you used ? Need to do our E46 also and that's the only item I don't have.
Great video however one thing to note, my 320cd axle/ shaft bolt was not 36mm. It is 30mm, needs a 30mm 12 point socket. Not sure if this is because it's a UK spec but regardless, 36mm was far too big
I almost changed the wheel bearing on my BMW e46, i did it in an authorized workshop. But I still have that bad bearing dot sound. What could be another problem?
used an impact on mine, worked fine, did the bearing separate when you installed the hub without a smaller plate that only covers the inside of the bearing?
Disappointing to see you guys did not properly support the inner race of the bearing when installing the hub. That causes unnecessary stress on the inner race of the bearing and you can blow it out if it’s a tight fit.
Hi Poltergus, thank you for the note! Mike had a washer on the inside from the bearing toolset that matched the bearing to keep from blowing out the inner race. We will make sure to show that better in future DIYs.
Literally FCP euro has saved me thousands and earned me thousands as a mechanic due to the amazing content they put out.
By far the best video on this subject!!!

Sounds like a creampuff!
I watched 3 before this vid. This vid is the most informative. Great job and thank you!
I love the FCP Euro DIY videos. So well put-together.
Great video. It gives me insight into how to do it correctly with the step-by-step procedures. Thanks!
Thank you so much. Please keep making these videos!
Nice! It is also neat to see employees packing orders in the background...hey, it could be my parts.
yeah FCP’s production and shop are so cool
Link to the axle puller tool? I don't see one for sale from FCP Euro, and all of the M27 tools I see online don't list the E46 as being compatible.
Love u bro thanks ,,a Kurdish boy living in the Netherlands..🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks you can't explained any better than that thank you i watch you video on the front bearing also
You're very welcome!
Awesome job, awesome info, clear and concise!
Thanks for the great video, Mike.
What tool is that that was used to pull the axle shaft back into the bearing?
Great video. You could've used the opportunity to replace that cut-off splash shield behind the brake.
Good call!

Nice work, Gman! They are indeed very similar. That tool used in the video is CTA-5056. Happy wrenching!

How would i know if the bearing is fully pressed in, can you feel.it getting tight?
Great video
The bearing is fully seated once you are able to get the snap ring back in place!
Would this be the same process for the 2003 bmw z4 E85 m54b25 ?
Thanks for the video, how long did this take to do ? Is every car like this or is the E46 just a hard case 😂

Check the tire. Must likely noise emitter.
Is FAG a good brand for bearing ?
they were the supplier for the original BMW bearings
i can’t figure this job out my plates won’t go through the bearing
used an impact on mine, worked fine, did the bearing separate when you installed the hub without a smaller plate that only covers the inside of the bearing?
Nice work! We had a plate on the backside to hold the bearing from our bearing tool, to keep the race from blowing out, it is the only way to do it!
@@fcpeuro roger that, thanks again for the tutorial, moving on to the front, one abs light left to go!!!!
does this apply to a 325i instead of xi?
Who knows? The hub should be able to be removed with the drive shaft still in place? My torx bolts are rounded so can't be removed.
You may be able to use a slide hammer bolted to the hub, but if the fit to the shaft is tight, you may be inducing some premature wear to the CV.
is this shop in CT or just the warehouse?
Hi Ney, this is filmed at our studio in CT. Unfortunately we do not offer shop services.
Great job but what a nightmare to replace the bearings on that model.
😅
love the video! hate the music!!! :)

I spotted that as well when he said "using the same oversized plate" had me screaming at the screen.
…and I just destroyed my bearing by following those words and not thinking it through for myself. Support the inner race!
I love how he couldn't say FAG because he would have gone to jail.

I’m really confused why the axel shaft was pulled seems like a waste of time couldn’t that just be left
