Joyo sounds pretty nice for the money IMO! I may have to pick one up! Didn’t know that the Avallon was a thing. Great comparison btw, thanks for sharing this!
I totally agree!!
And THANKS!
Erik, this video comparing the two pedals was incredible. I use the Avalon and it gives me a very high quality response. In the signal chain, what is the order in which you use the compressor?
Either at the very beginning of the signal chain - or AFTER the distortion :)
Both sound great... I think the Cali76 sounded "warmer" on the direct bass test, but if you didn't have them next to each other, I would think you would not know the difference.
Yeah, and in a mix NO ONE would be able to tell the difference :)
Thank you for the video. To my ears, Joyo is more transparent. It controls the dynamic and adds some small color to the mid and high. For the Cali76, it doesn't shy to add color to the tone. And that is the reason people use the 1176 style compressor.
👍👍👍
I think I actually preferred the Joyo more of the time which I didn't expect! The Origin sounds incredible though and they make awesome products, built like a tank.
Yeah, the Joyo really stands its ground!!
The cali was powered under 18volt or 9volts?
9V for this!
I do wonder if the Joyo can be run at higher voltage to get more headroom.
Don’t wanna try and then fry it, though 😂
I have never owned a comp pedal, but I am going to get one soon. I want a dry blend though, that means no Joyo sadly. Other than not having a dry blend it seems nice.
Ah! Totally understandable - but the Joyo is GREAT for the buck!
@@erikarko I don't doubt it, I have had my Joyo Vintage OD for over 10 years and it's great, even takes 18 volts.
@masterofreality230 Nice!!
@@erikarko Yea, it sits on my board right next to my Strymons lol
