He's saying we're nothing then from where these energies of the universe comes from which is converting from one form to another eternally changing and creating, operating and destroying everything, what is that? That's not nothing. Only a fool will be easily gets convinced by these forms of intellectual circus, this is of no use to know anything for real.

    The body has no life of itself. Thought has no life of itself. By themselves, they are inert. They are activated by life. Life is the only Being. What is life? What is consciousness? When activated by life, thought creates the idea "I", a simulacrum of Being.
    Because thought is limited, the simulacrum is limited, insufficient. Consciousness, which is life, cannot be measured - it is infinite, unknowable. Because life is infinite, the simulacrum, by reflection, wants to be complete too. So, it goes after power, position, fortune, and all the rest of it, never reaching completeness. In this ambition, it creates division, competition, wars and destruction.
    Do I depend on thought to be alive and conscious? Who or what am I? Can I measure who or what I am? With which instrument? Am I not the unknowable?

The problem with him and UG is that if you enter into their worldview seeking to 'understand' the ego has already snuck in 'you*' ARE still in charge and you is the illusion of thoughts constructed on memory. I don't know personally that too many people - myself included have the bandwidtch and psychological make-up to enter into his experience. It demands the sacrifice of everything we hold - I hold dear, my house, my partner, my family - Jesus said the same thing about those who wish to follow him, abandoning wife and children etc. Which is as it should be - if there were 5 people on his level of realization in any one place who the hell knows what might happen?

      I don't want to offend you, but I wonder if you understand what this is about.
      I'm no specialist, but I know something about human anatomy. Concepts like ego, self or psyche are usually located in the brain. Neuro scientists have mapped the whole architecture of the brain and there are no structures that can objectively be identified as such. They simply don't exist. So what are we talking about?
      There is no objective self or ego or me or psyche. These concepts are constructed by thought; they exist in thought as an idea. It's a complete virtual thing, it's illusion. What ever you say about something that doesn't exist is nonsence! But since we are so conditioned - programmed - from childhood on, it's obviously very difficult to understand, let alone to be aware off.
      You exist as a biological organism controled by a brain, like all the other vertebrae, or even a fruit flie. That brain controls your walking, eating, sleeping and all the rest of it through awareness. In that we do not differ from a cow or a mouse. All these brains, however big or small, do the same thing: provide food, safety and reproduction. These are the biological conditions for life.
      In modern human beings - Homo sapiens - cognition evolved into the abillity of thinking. We need that imagination for practical reasons, otherwise we can't function. Whithout it, we couldn't even make a shopping list.
      But the whole psychological part of that cognition is illusion. It's virtual ballast! If we are not aware of it as an actual fact - and most people are not - that illusion manifests itself in reality through our acting, inwardly and outwardly.
      The world we bring about is the cultural product of thought, but unfortunatly the quality of that world is illusion, because we live in that illusion inwardly, wich causes enormous havoc in our world!
      That's a fact. The seeing of that fact is the understanding; it's the actual pin put in the bubble!
      Than what happens?

    To be able to understand the fact that one is “no-thing”, one needs to go thru in a kind of “Dark Night of the Soul” to realize who one is not. One is not the mind. But this realization comes as a Grace. One cannot “make it happen”.

    • @Qurlir

    Absolutely true.We are so identified with that animate or inanimate " other(observed),that we have " become that ",and have concluded,"I am that " !!! Unless there is a "gap" between the observer and his observed ,there is no question of " learning about yourself".Serious introspection is the only way out for humanity to learn about oneself,and understand our true self.More importantly,we have understand,as a fact,that all the information gathered and stored as memory in content of consciousness is not our true self.If that is so,then the next step will be " who am I"?To come to this stage of inquiry,we will have to see conclusions as nothing more than a subjective opinion,coming out of a conditioned mind.

    There is much you can learn from the parts of yourself that you refuse to acknowlege. the longer you keep it repressed, the larger and darker it becomes, till finally it floats up at times you wish it hadn't, begging to be known and expressed. There is a saying that the unexamined life is not worth living. One must try to find a balance, but you cannot begin until you choose to unzip that part of your "backpack" which is heavy and full of what you choose to ignore, and make the attempt to consciously bring it out into the light, acknowlege and make peace with it, and begin your integration. You may find in that process, that you have access to untapped strengths and become a more compassionate person.

      We seem to think that as we advance through time, we logically evolve into higher, more enlightened beings, when in fact it's the exact opposite, especially with the advent of modern technological advancements. I think it's been demonstrated through current affairs during recent history that spiritual growth is certainly not congruent with the proliferation of technology. The more access to modern conveniences we have, the more dumbed-down and ignorant we become. So it's no surprise in 2023 we are reverting back to our cavemen ancestors' animalistic nature. In fact, cavemen probably had a greater spiritual connection to the divine and nature, and possessed more wisdom than we'll ever have!

    He means that your thought saying who you are is an illusion because thought is limited and you are eternal so it is not real. Thought that creates the "me" is an illusion. Thought is only important as an instrument in the material world but not in the psycological world. That's all.

  • @Depth_Psychology

    K is talking about the narrative theory of self, and confronting that it is ultimately unreal and created by a series of thoughts and through the use of memory to gather those thoughts into a narrative, a story, and like most stories they are untrue. I believe it is an aspect of our mind to create this illusion for certain purposes but to understand reality in a greater sense we must discern the illusory nature of the ego. It doesn't mean we reject the illusion completely and at every moment, just that we can discern its fundamental falsity. What do you think?

    • @rodneytapit5636
      @rodneytapit5636 9 месяцев назад

      'Rejection' comes from conflict of desires, which is the same old mechanical self made by thought. If the false is truly seen without division then the false comes to an end without conflict. The difficulty seems to be that the thinker gets its hands on everything one hears and makes an theory or abstraction out of it, therefore an escape from seeing the fact because thought cannot exist where there is attention. Thought and attention are mutually exclusive.

    • @christophepeigney4315
      @christophepeigney4315 Месяц назад

      @@rodneytapit5636 The difficulty is indeed to be attentive to the thought that always wants to escape and does not want to die! Where "K" insists is with what seriousness one must approach his teaching. He clearly says that it must be radical, one must jump into the unknown and stop pretending. The majority of people want to distract themselves through spirituality, but everyone takes a step back when it comes to eradicating the ego. Because there we begin to talk about putting an end to all our little pleasures or boasts and to invite the pain caused by fear. The other fear is to face this void that is in each of us and that we fill throughout our lives.

    Without discovering who I am, and wanting to know about the universe and God, I find myself in the strange and curious situation of wanting to know about everything else without knowing who wants to know.
    I am not two, one to know the other. It's really about discovering, removing what covers. I can, apparently, cover the sun with the palm of my hand. But that hand is only seen by me because of the sunlight. Likewise, I only perceive theories, beliefs and concepts - which seemingly cover the infinite light - because of that light itself.
    To see the sun, I need to remove my hand from its position in front of my eyes. To see the infinite light, it is necessary to remove, by understanding the facts, the superimposition which is beliefs, theories and mental representations.
    In this case, seeing is being.
    It's a great adventure, which, initially, can cause fear. But this fear also subsides.

And accepting the fact that we are jealous , angry and selfish, the very seeing and acceptance can bring about a change in ourself, we don’t need to put an effort to change from being jealous to not being jealous. 'Myself' can mean many things: From the 'body mind existence' to 'true self' .

    To me learning about yourself means getting to know what makes you tick. Physically and psychologically. These "things" influence your mood, every day function and thought patterns.
    For example, exercising is good for you and doing it can actually help you in many ways. There is all sorts of learning about oneself involved in that process. As the human being that you are and what that human being is trying to do. Lots of learning and open mindedness involved where you often have to let go of what you perceived yourself to be like.
    But i get what he's saying. We dont have to be static entities to learn something about how we are as human beings though. Even if it is this individual in particular. Some of it goes beyond thought.
    If you were to for example discover a pattern your running biomechanics have that are causing some issue like pain or are just simply inefficient and cause injury over time because of some unneccesary friction the posture promotes. "You" learned "this" about "you". I hope Im wrong here and hes not just fiddling with semantics here. 😂
