There is much you can learn from the parts of yourself that you refuse to acknowlege. the longer you keep it repressed, the larger and darker it becomes, till finally it floats up at times you wish it hadn't, begging to be known and expressed. There is a saying that the unexamined life is not worth living. You may find in that process, that you have access to untapped strengths and become a more compassionate person.
"Are we clear about what we mean when we say we want to learn about ourselves?".."Or do we have innumerable motives?".....it is this resoluteness to keep on demolishing which the Guru (yes, Krishnamurti would never approve of being given this title) keeps at, more than anything else. To stop us in our motive-tracks.
One has to see everything that thought has put together. Everything has been put together by thought. The question is, what is the source of thought? Experience might be the answer. The question then to ask is where do experiences come from?
The source of thought is memory, that’s why each person thinks differently having different personalities and knows different languages, acquired from experience Where do memory or experience come from?, “Rupert Spira” can explain it better
Experience comes from senses and beyond senses The ground of experience is consciousness And we're conscious beings including animals birds bacteria...etc
Who am I? How did I get here? Why can I ask these questions? What are questions? What is harmony and what is lack of harmony? Am I the same as what I experience?or are we separate? Lol there are lots of things to learn about ones life. It never ends. Ahhh this is all “ I think” and it’s stick in a comparative paradigm that is not represented by the total. To measure a thing is to limit it. To place it within the spectrum of measures. A range. But existence is not a consideration or a conclusion! It just is , the flow of source. Tao

We seem to think that as we advance through time, we logically evolve into higher, more enlightened beings, when in fact it's the exact opposite, especially with the advent of modern technological advancements. I think it's been demonstrated through current affairs during recent history that spiritual growth is certainly not congruent with the proliferation of technology. The more access to modern conveniences we have, the more dumbed-down and ignorant we become. So it's no surprise in 2023 we are reverting back to our cavemen ancestors' animalistic nature. In fact, cavemen probably had a greater spiritual connection to the divine and nature, and possessed more wisdom than we'll ever have!
@@TerryMasri "The more access to modern conveniences we have, the more dumbed-down and ignorant we become. So it's no surprise in 2023 we are reverting back to our cavemen ancestors' animalistic nature. " Cannot agree more to this.
@@coolmohan I think he had mentioned it with David Bohm. From memory he had said that man was still a monkey with his animal fears. He had also said that the human brain was atrophied by force of habits.
He means that your thought saying who you are is an illusion because thought is limited and you are eternal so it is not real. Thought that creates the "me" is an illusion. Thought is only important as an instrument in the material world but not in the psycological world. That's all.
K is talking about the narrative theory of self, and confronting that it is ultimately unreal and created by a series of thoughts and through the use of memory to gather those thoughts into a narrative, a story, and like most stories they are untrue. I believe it is an aspect of our mind to create this illusion for certain purposes but to understand reality in a greater sense we must discern the illusory nature of the ego. It doesn't mean we reject the illusion completely and at every moment, just that we can discern its fundamental falsity. What do you think?
'Rejection' comes from conflict of desires, which is the same old mechanical self made by thought. If the false is truly seen without division then the false comes to an end without conflict. The difficulty seems to be that the thinker gets its hands on everything one hears and makes an theory or abstraction out of it, therefore an escape from seeing the fact because thought cannot exist where there is attention. Thought and attention are mutually exclusive.
@@rodneytapit5636 The difficulty is indeed to be attentive to the thought that always wants to escape and does not want to die! Where "K" insists is with what seriousness one must approach his teaching. He clearly says that it must be radical, one must jump into the unknown and stop pretending. The majority of people want to distract themselves through spirituality, but everyone takes a step back when it comes to eradicating the ego. Because there we begin to talk about putting an end to all our little pleasures or boasts and to invite the pain caused by fear. The other fear is to face this void that is in each of us and that we fill throughout our lives.
Without discovering who I am, and wanting to know about the universe and God, I find myself in the strange and curious situation of wanting to know about everything else without knowing who wants to know. I am not two, one to know the other. It's really about discovering, removing what covers. I can, apparently, cover the sun with the palm of my hand. But that hand is only seen by me because of the sunlight. Likewise, I only perceive theories, beliefs and concepts - which seemingly cover the infinite light - because of that light itself. To see the sun, I need to remove my hand from its position in front of my eyes. To see the infinite light, it is necessary to remove, by understanding the facts, the superimposition which is beliefs, theories and mental representations. In this case, seeing is being. It's a great adventure, which, initially, can cause fear. But this fear also subsides.
Because of false beliefs, wars are here. Religion being one of the most false beliefs. Nationalism and ethnocentrism, authoritarianism also cause wars.
@@hsbdkdndn I havte to tell you you fell prey to left-wing, globalist propaganda. The US doesn't fight or provoke wars all over the world because of either of the things you mentioned; it's right hhe opposite. The main cause is universalism.
He is saying we are in effect nothing. There is nothing more than change and impermanence in this world that we know. We are witness to this, but that is all. Everything else we think is nothing more, nothing less, than mental constructs. Right?
No , I think he is trying to say that the actual self is nothing , but we tried to fill this nothing with knowledge, education or what ever , and this knowledge and conditioning made us jealous , angry , selfish or whatever . And accepting the fact that we are jealous , angry and selfish, the very seeing and acceptance can bring about a change in ourself, we don’t need to put an effort to change from being jealous to not being jealous. The very honest act of seeing the fact and acceptance can bring about a change .
Would anybody have a link, a following video where he says why he is here? I think I am here for the human experience but his level, awareness of reality is very radical for me to follow. Thank You, for the video.
That's what it means by saying that Adam is made of clay. So, you have to shape it. But, the question would be, into what shape you should form the clay?
'Knowing thyself' is the core of awakening. 'Myself' can mean many things: From the 'body mind existence' to 'true self' . Infact, every word may have a different meaning for different people, hence one should not take such conversations too deeply, or seriously.
I beg to differ with this argument; there is everything to learn about oneself, depending on one’s personality type. "Know thyself" is one of the most well-known of Ancient Greek maxims.
from my limited understanding, I think JK is pointing to the "self" that is put together by thought, which is of no essence whatsoever. As compared to the "true self" which cannot be spoken about since its untouched by thought
I need to be cautious about accepting 'There is nothing to learn about yourself' as his words, like a disciple or devotee, rather than discovering it through my own self-enquiry.
To me learning about yourself means getting to know what makes you tick. Physically and psychologically. These "things" influence your mood, every day function and thought patterns. For example, exercising is good for you and doing it can actually help you in many ways. There is all sorts of learning about oneself involved in that process. As the human being that you are and what that human being is trying to do. Lots of learning and open mindedness involved where you often have to let go of what you perceived yourself to be like. But i get what he's saying. We dont have to be static entities to learn something about how we are as human beings though. Even if it is this individual in particular. Some of it goes beyond thought. If you were to for example discover a pattern your running biomechanics have that are causing some issue like pain or are just simply inefficient and cause injury over time because of some unneccesary friction the posture promotes. "You" learned "this" about "you". I hope Im wrong here and hes not just fiddling with semantics here. 😂
It also sounds like he is talking about stuff like "your personal trauma story." And encouraging for someone to go beyond it and not remain stuck on that. Which i can respect. Thats hard, but important.
You can learn about the body and the mind, but you can not learn about yourself. You are neither your body nor your mind and you aren't a thing. You are without properties and you can not be found. There is nothing what can be said about you.
Every time i watch him, there is like a huge smile on my face, absolutely love his talks.

Love this.
There, not their😂
Well, he is just describing facts. What can one learn from facts besides how they operate in life.
The man with the glasses was Dave Bohm.
Right! Scientist in field of Quantum Mechanics, Bell Inequalities and Quantum Theory..
"There is nothing to learn about myself... Beyond my body and it's function, I am only my memories out of which comes my job... ego....
Thank you for sharing this wisdom
The best I can listen to all day long❤
One has to see everything that thought has put together. Everything has been put together by thought. The question is, what is the source of thought? Experience might be the answer. The question then to ask is where do experiences come from?
The source of thought is memory, that’s why each person thinks differently having different personalities and knows different languages, acquired from experience
Where do memory or experience come from?, “Rupert Spira” can explain it better
Experience comes from senses and beyond senses
The ground of experience is consciousness
And we're conscious beings including animals birds bacteria...etc
Thoughts come from words, doctrines, teachings, opinions, ideas, etc
Rubbish from people but we carry it on
The Experience Comes from the Memory Which is Expereinced by the Experiencer......
And with this question thought can´t give an answer, because in itself is experience and memory, isn´t it?
Great view in seeing things happening with oneself
Gratitude! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great talk.
You don't learn from thinking. Thinking however is us. We're on the road of destruction and there's no thought that can end it.
You aren't your thoughts. Thoughts are appearing and disappearing while you aren't.
2:20 his reaction wow profound !!!
😂
Love all the comments!!!
Excellent ❤
K: why are we here?
Very good question indeed. I'd say: To become aware of unconscious actions/speech/habits etc.
They told me to learn about myself! Now I hate myself! And everyone else too.
There is also an Krishnamurti's interview with the italian public television RAI with Bruno Modugno years '970...
Thanks

Thank you for your generosity
Tao
the Great Teacher
Thanks ❤
Wonderful
To know thyself, is to understand the "lens" by which the world is skewed during observation 🤔
Learning to know oneself, is 1st required in order to remove oneself from observation... and thus gain an unfiltered understanding of reality.
Bias shapes the view of reality... which is not actual reality.
this poves that you are an extraordinary
Absolut minunat.🌹

Wow it’s 2023 and we still haven’t caught up to these teachings , what’s wrong with us !
Cannot agree more to this.

God bless u all love you all
You've probably said the only worthy response to his work. May you be free from suffering, may you be at peace!
Because of those religions, wars are here.
Because of false beliefs, wars are here. Religion being one of the most false beliefs. Nationalism and ethnocentrism, authoritarianism also cause wars.
Not just because those religions. Wars have a deeper cause.
BS. Look up communism and its atrocities and we can talk.
@@VasistaVarma How does acceptance create change?
Would anybody have a link, a following video where he says why he is here? I think I am here for the human experience but his level, awareness of reality is very radical for me to follow. Thank You, for the video.
"Have you learnt anything about yourself, while you're here?"
Yes, I learned that I am nothing, and so are the rest. :)
That's what it means by saying that Adam is made of clay. So, you have to shape it.
But, the question would be, into what shape you should form the clay?
Because it is Infinite!!!
He is a Fire if you go near him you will be burn that's.
'Knowing thyself' is the core of awakening.
'Myself' can mean many things: From the 'body mind existence' to 'true self' .
Infact, every word may have a different meaning for different people, hence one should not take such conversations too deeply, or seriously.
Gratitude:-)
I beg to differ with this argument; there is everything to learn about oneself, depending on one’s personality type. "Know thyself" is one of the most well-known of Ancient Greek maxims.
from my limited understanding, I think JK is pointing to the "self" that is put together by thought, which is of no essence whatsoever. As compared to the "true self" which cannot be spoken about since its untouched by thought
That's also my understanding. Sometimes it takes a lot of attention to understand Krishnamurti's words. Very deep.
Same here
It is true that he was not a friend of psychologists and "religious" people.
Brilliant ❤

To hear his story may take a lifetime but if there is compassion, this clip is good enough
Krishnamurti - Brockwood Park, 1978 - Seminar 5
I need to be cautious about accepting 'There is nothing to learn about yourself' as his words, like a disciple or devotee, rather than discovering it through my own self-enquiry.
Dude, the guy at the back is David Bohm, quantum physicist.
Waste of living in learning of the self. When you should spend the time living and allow time to define you if it wills.
A structure of memories ="I".
He never said why he is there xD.
Oh i believe i know what he means. He is just trying to convey that reality of a place where people have moved on and are now here.
You can learn about the body and the mind, but you can not learn about yourself. You are neither your body nor your mind and you aren't a thing. You are without properties and you can not be found. There is nothing what can be said about you.
"i can't touch it" bow to the power of maya and bow down
Cám ơn!
I wonder what Jung would think about K’s ‘thoughts’. Doesn’t Consciousness’ exist?
There is and there isn't. WORDS ARE TRAPS We learn about the concept of the Universal Self.
