- How to make a very simple DIY pool 'vacuum" with a bubble pump.
After several swimming seasons sediment can build up on the pool floor. This simple device performs the same job as expensive pool vacuums but costs a fraction of the price and uses very little energy.
You are the “Doc Brown” to my “Marty!” Thank you!!!
Beautiful simple solution and I love the presentation👍
David I’ve watched many videos of yours and I’m completely wowed by your brilliance. I’m looking to make my 1 1/2 - 2 acre pond more swim able without a liner. From your videos and knowledge I think I can make it happen. I would be extraordinarily amazing if I had a way to contact you in this process maybe pick your brain if things go a mess! Anyways your content in unbelievably useful in a practical sense and I’m hoping to accomplish a large pond natural swimming pool 👌🏽Thank you for all the time and effort you’ve taken to make sure people like me get the information that truly useful. 🙏🏻
And did you start?
@@FelixIsGood yes I have finished my pond, now I would love to do a natural hot pool similar to that of a hot springs
@@jacelandadventures1523 Any video where we can see that pond?
How is your approach to the 'hot springs' shaping up? Would love to hear what ideas you have please! :)
"The Dave Mustaine of Organic Pools" enjoying your vidz here from the Philippines. Hope I could made one myself someday.
This is awesome. I was just thinking about how you clear the sediment out of the pond or get leaves that may fall in and start decomposing at the bottom. Thank you for your great videos!
Awesome video
Airlift Pump is energy saving and eco friendly
No electric hazard (No electric powered pump in water)
Awesome video thanks for sharing your knowledge. You remind me of the fella from escape to river cottage. Great..
I lol'd when you opened up that valve
How do the bubbles force the water over the water-level of the pond?
Amazing. How many liters/hour of air that air compressor pumps?
That "gunk" would be excellent for watering your edible crops as it has a lot of nutrients in it.
and the bubble pump is pushing the water ?
Is there a scientific term for what is taking place when the air is forced in and water rushes up? Something besides vacuum? Maybe a term I could research a bit more? Thanks!
mason hawkins Venturi effect
Mariano Cipriota thanks!

the air stone is the little thin u use in an aquarium ?
yes
Hey David, I use a dedicated 50w air pump but I only get a little bit of lift above water level. How did you get so much more? We lose a lot of water to evaporation so I can't fix the pipes or the lift requirement becomes too great.
the narrower your pipe the higher you can pump it. I bet you have a larger pipe. Try a 40mm pipe for the higher pumping applications
Giovanni, did you find a solution? I have the same issue with my 85w pump, I can hardly get a decent flow of water 10cm above the water level.
Hi David - love what you are doing. Had two questions: first, what type of material do the plants go into? Is it an actual soil that water flows through which the plants roots are in or do the plants sit in a mix of pebble and sand? The latter seems to make sense as the roots would solely rely on taking nutrients out of the water vs the soil & water, and therefore keep the water cleaner/clearer ? Secondly, I see that you used oak for the top of the swimming area border - what other wood would you suggest? Cedar?
+theoriginalbigring The plants are planted in sand or gravel so they pull nutrients from the water and keep the water clean. That, plus the pure volume of gravel providing surface area for beneficial bacteria, keeps the pool clear.
Can you use an Organic pool in Aquaponics system or to keep separate pond from getting overgrown with algae?
If you have enough plants in the system, they compete with algae for the nutrients in the water which helps keep algae from forming. Keeping the water oxygenated with the airstones also helps in this regard.
Sorry, I don't understand how the air stone forces the water up?
Vivi Lee-Ford it functions like a venturi
See DPB's other videos: basically the bubbles "carry" the water up the pipe, even to a height above the surface of the water (depends on diameter of pipe and flow of air) search his channel for "Organic pools bubble flow. How a natural pool is pumped with one airstone in 1/2 day.." (ruclips.net/video/ctnib9TAeRw/видео.html)
