I love this dress by Helen's Closet, the York Pinafore. I hope you enjoy my review. Stephanie Music Happy Accoustic Free Nicola Donchev www.hooksounds.com
I love the YorkPinafore. Love all of Helens patterns actually and have made most of them. I get such great fit with her designs and her instructions are so good!!
Hello. I love the pinafore on you. Looks just like something you would pick. The one fabric for the next pinafore is going to be fantastic. The plaid would be great as a shirt dress or a slightly oversized jacket to with leggings.
It is a great pattern. I have 3, all with those fun huge side pockets. One I made in a cream ponte and I don't wear that much as the ponte shows up the lines of whatever you wear under it. I think I'll make up another in some cornflower blue linen I have. I need some close fitting tops to wear under them as I don't have any close fitting tshirts at all. (However I think I'll just buy a few of those).
I have flannel waiting to be sewn too. Haha. My pattern is McCalls 7472. Take a look at it. The raglan sleeves are way faster and easier than a fitted sleeve.
Love the York pinafore. I made one in jumbo corduroy and one in navy twill. I make the bias binding from a contrast fat quarter to add interest. I follow the Frugalissima tutorial, it’s amazing how much bias tape you get from one fat quarter
I love my York’s! I had never used bias binding and it took me a long time to make it because of the binding. I made the neckline halfway between the 2 lines. I prefer the 2 pockets too. My favourites are made from chunky corduroy - which suits our wet Welsh weather!
My first I made with the deep neckline, the other two I did what you did and made a neckline somewhere between the 2 options on the pattern. That worked out best for me.
I LOVE the York Pinafore! I’ve made two. I’ve made one with the bias binding showing and one without 😀. It’s such a great layering piece. And Ruthie (sewmanyflowers) inspires me ALL the time😀.
Hi Michelle, well I’m not surprised you have made it! Cause I love what you make! And, yes, when I found sewmanyflowers, I saw how many other people I recognize that follow her too! I just love this community!! ❤️❤️❤️

Would someone invent feel-a-vision. I want to touch that fabric!
Hi Joy, it’s really nice, has a good drape to it. I choose fabric by the way it feels...sounds like you do too! 🥰
