Wow I was surprised SK seemed happy to go through the history of The Church and very thoughtfully so. Thought he might have been bored by the questions but it was really good. An album with only one original member should be very interesting to hear.

I think he humors the foreign interviewers who have potentially new audiences. I've heard him talk about some of these vintage topics before, and you can tell he likes to reminisce sometimes. ;-)

Wow. Way to ramp up the interview near the end. Well done. You really got him to speak his mind. I love the old stuff, and I have forced myself to listen to the newer stuff, and you know what? It all grows on you eventually. One of my all-time favorite Church songs now is "After Everything" which is relatively new (2002). "Laurel Canyon" is another one (although I still don't understand what the heck it's about). And how about SK's acoustic full album take of 'Of Skins and Heart'?! Anyway, I have always been a huge fan of MWP, and I will continue to be a fan. PK somewhat less, but I still check out his stuff from time to time. Someday I hope there will be a big reunion with all of the vintage members. If not, oh well! At least I was able to enjoy the band when the original 4, and then 3 out of 4, were together. Enough rambling from me for now. ;-)

thank you for your great feedback. Im a fan of people I interview so I ask things I and what hope others would like to hear. Steve was very kind in sharing his thoughts with me. I was just listening to Skins if heart last night.

This idea that the church’s music was better in the past is dead wrong. I simply can’t relate to that at all. I listen to all their recent music, overall more so than the earlier catalog.

I think bands evolve like football ⚽ teams whether we like it or not. I like The Church have kept going (despite few years I wondered away few years around turn of century) imagine Steve hadn't kept going he'd probably regret it and things wouldn't have evolved in the way they have. Someone recently said to me (about this other band - nightwish) all their albums sound the same (I don't think they do) anyway point being many, many bands never change through record company pressure or fear of just trying or disappointing fans. Looking forward to new album and really hope they come to Europe/UK next year.

I noticed Steve talks about using the teac, but, it’s still so much easier to just literally write down what you hear in your head in music notation .

What were Starfish and Priest=Aura? I'd say those were pretty nice attempts! Maybe my top 3 fav albums right there. 1) Priest=Aura, 2) Starfish, 3) Heyday. (Subject to change order on any given day due to the weather and/or my mood.) 4) Seance.

Their best album is whatever you feel like listening to. Personally I like the more recent albums as much as any of the older ones.

@@Nithael_ Right? Older albums have the advantage of nostalgia, and of having been heard for the first time when the listeners (we) were younger and more open to new music. Of course the older stuff might seem better now to some people. I love Heyday, but Further Deeper and Man, Woman, Life, Death, Infinity are two of The Church's richest releases with some very complex, varied sounds.
