- Most of my home and garden decor is thrifted or found, in today's home and garden tour vlog I will be sharing some recent refined thrifted finds I purchased for Sugarwood, our 1790 in the New England countryside, and for our shop. I will also be sharing how I started a twig garden arch, a peel and stick wallpaper I found for the tavern and a few items I purchased for the store, including a garden glove review for Foxgloves.

Another reason why I, too, am a kindred spirit . . . Heavenly blue morning glories! One of my top three favorite flowers.
It looks like the terra-cotta piece is a shisa or shishi piece. My husband brought back one from Okinawa during one of his business travels years ago. They are usually lions or dogs and they are supposed to ward off evil spirits. I enjoy watching your videos, especially looking at your thrifted finds…….what beautiful treasures!

If it’s an antique, the tiny tureen was almost certainly intended to be a mustard pot, but your idea of using it for jam-or even picalilli- is great, too.

Happy Mother's Day! We're heading off to a Mother's Day tea at our daughter's home. We have these monthly tea parties to enjoy with our grandchildren to share the things in life that are "Refined". The children love it.

I’m back again 6 days later! Watching your videos and seeing all your thrift shopping finds has given me the “the thrift bug”. It’s been awhile and yesterday my girlfriend and I met for lunch and decided to go thrifting first. We stopped at one place, met a stranger who also loved the hunt and we were checking on Google, searching for a stamp on the bottom of a covered side dish I had picked up. Well, we found the stamp that was from a German Company in Austria that was used between 1909-1918! I paid $6.00 as marked. What a treasure! I bought a few other items, a tiny 41/2 “ tall pewter bud vase for $2.00, a Krome filigreed platter made in New York. We had so much fun that we didn’t get to lunch until 3:15 ! Thank you Linda for the inspiration to get back to something I always enjoyed!

Gargoyles and grotesque images were actually used on churches and homes to ward off demons and the devil. I hardly think the churches were worshiping the devil. I hope your subscriber looked more into this and didn't unsubcribe for that reason. Love your videos and your kindness, Linda. ❤
A great native vine is lonicera sempervirens 'major wheeler'.. coral honeysuckle vine. Hummingbirds love it. Starts blooming in mid-May and continues into the fall.

I lived in Templeton near Leominster. My house was a colonial and gave me the creeps in certain areas.

Indeed, back during the dark ages, gargoyles were actually put on the 4 corners of buildings to ward off evil. Sharing information together helps us all learn from one another. I love God very much too, its admirable for all of us to look out for one another as well. You have been blessed with much abundance. Sharing your talents and plans with all of us is thoughtful and, you give us all inspirational ideas for a cozy and beautiful home. For the person who was standing up for her beliefs, that too is a blessing. Unfortunately, America is facing much evil right now. Staying alert and aware is equally as important, otherwise, we will not keep our freedom to enjoy your hobbies, nor continue to follow our dreams and have our homes. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is why there is a New England area. It is all relative. God bless you all.

For some of us colonial homes and decor are just in our blood, then again, everyone is born with cherished passions. There is actually a verse in the Bible, about what happens when we deny our God-given talents. Not only are you talented, your a wonderful role model for the rest of your viewers. Hi Linda, the terra cotta mask is of Bacchus, Roman god of agriculture, wine, and merriment. He is identifiable by his crown of grapes. He should do well at the garden event at Twin Elm Farm.
The cloche actually looks like it might be a votive candle holder that you put in a candle stick.
The little tureen could be used for mint sauce.

I love the color perriwinkle blue as well; especially on a pastel yellow cottage, with white trim, and... a perriwinkle blue front door and shutters!! 💖 Maybe some red pansies lining the walkway; just for a pop of color, and a twisted branch "fence" out front.🌹

I had to laugh when you said refined finds, because I pictured it as refind finds. My maternal grandmother, mother, my cousin and me used to spend our days while my grandmother was still able visiting all the local thrift stores, and my grandmother more than once was known to buy back something she had donated-i.e. refind finds. lol I really enjoyed seeing all your purchases and refinds. The wallpapers look so good together with the paint. The tavern is really coming along. It was fun seeing you and Willow riding along in the gator. Hoping you had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

The small "tureen" might be a mustard pot. Think Coleman's English mustard for a roast beef.
I would presume the terracotta mask is of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and pleasure because of the grapes.

My husband and I put up peel and stick wallpaper on a small wall in our house and I found it much more difficult than the pre-pasted wallpaper we used to use in the past. There is no give to it. Once it is on the wall, it must be removed of all places it has adhered to just to adjust slightly. We ruined a long sheet as it got stuck to itself so I had buy another whole roll to get the job done. I can't imagine doing a large wall or a room with it. And it gasses off vinyl quite a bit. I'm glad it's done but would likely not use it on any large walls in my home in the future.

Linda, you have so many talents! I love the little arch you built, will look beautiful when it has flowers on it. That wallpaper looks amazing and goes perfect with the "Tally Ho". RE: the "evil spirit" clay face looks like the touristy souvenirs you get in Italy. I have a similar one that I got when I visited "La Boca de la Verita "in Rome. I wanted a memento of this famous tourist attraction since I saw the movie Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn. The ridiculous ideas of some ignorant people never cease to amaze me. I love your home and have always been drawn to the simple elegance of the New England style, back in the 80's and 90's I spent a small fortune on American Country Living and Southern Living magazines, storing away ideas for my home renovations...

Here’s a garden trick I’ll pass on as someone who doesn’t particularly care for garden gloves: before going out in the garden, rub your nails over a bar of soap! The dirt doesn’t get under your nails now and when you wash your hands, the soap is already there!

Also, I love the Baldwin Brass. I never pass up a candlestick when I find them. I actually found a set of Baldwin candleholders, brand new, in pewter, at an estate sale, in the original box, for under $10.00! Could not pass those up. I did not know Baldwin made pewter. Good luck with the tavern wallpaper. It looks great and it will be worth the effort needed to hang it. You are so innovative and inspire so many. Thanks again for sharing. I have done many designs with grapevines and sticks... just made large very twisted grapevine arch between my diningroom living area, and living room, with a large round nest with eggs, and two cardinals...spaced on different branches...
