    This guy obviously has no clue what he’s doing. Cut your grass at 4 inches and only apply ANY product when your grass is actively growing. Follow rate instructions and don’t mow or fertilize in extreme heat and the grass will be just fine.

    I did a front and side yard renovation this spring. Nuked the entire thing last fall with round up. Early March, in between rain storms, I got out there and tilled all the dead foliage under, then planted Tractor Supply Co. "Ultra Premium Tall Fescue".
    Raked it in and kept it moist. I didn't use any fertilizer until I saw it start to come up.
    Once it came up, I hit it, hot and heavy, with the super Juice. High concentration, every weekend. It came in real nice like that.
    Then, I started mowing it once it reached past the 4" mark. I set my Honda at 4"and started mowing it. The first 3 times mowing was good. But after the 4th mow, it started growing like mad! It's growing 1.5"-2" every 24 hours and ALL I've put on it was Tenacity, when I seeded for weed control, then one more app after it came up, and Super Juice. That's it.
    I go out the next day after mowing now, and it looks like it hasn't been touched for days. I take my ruler out and measure blades of grass that have been cut and they are 5.5"-6"+. I just cannot believe how well that new grass is doing. So I'm a true believer in this product. I've seen extraordinary results in a lawn that was bare dirt just 7 weeks ago. My neighbors marvel at how good it looks.

    Bob, Nice yard and neighborhood. Looks like you have warm weather grass (Bermuda?). 14-2-4 for a first spring fertilizer on that grass is weak-sauce. Want great grass? Wait till you see 50% green as the lawn comes out of winter dormancy (when your night time temps are in the 60's), then hit it with a ~30 nitrogen fertilizer (33-4-10 or so). Bermuda can handle high nitrogen as long as it gets watered in fairly quickly. As temps get into the 90's, back off the nitrogen a bit, but continue to fertilize every 6 weeks (28-5-12 slow release).

    You "MUST" strain Super Juice so your sprayer does not clog up, trust me, it's not a suggestion it is mandatory. I've tried to put it down 3 times without straining it. I've used Super Juice with great results, you have to use it on a non-dormant lawn as it is a foliar spray. I wish you luck on your back yard and also check out Ryan Knorr and Allyn Hayne "The Lawn Care Nut" on youtube. Doc is also full of great information on lawn care. You have further set your lawn up to succeed next year! "I'll see you in the mow"!

  • @AllAroundTube50

    Mix each bottle when you need it. Poor hot water directly into your sprayer bottle, attach hose, shake, spray - refill as needed. Very easy! Not sure why people use buckets, etc. The hot water becomes cold water and crates blocking in your sprayer bottle. This doesn't need to be an exact science...

    So pay $80 for a 13.5lb bag that doesn't even do anything.
    His defenders say you have to use it as a supplement with real fertilizers to notice any results. In other words, it does nothing. They're saying that if you want results, you need to use real fertilizers, not less than 2 lbs of N for an entire acre. "Oh wow, look at the results I'm getting when I use all these fertilizers and other micronutrient products. It must be because of the SJ!!"
    There are way cheaper products that have all the stuff SJ has.

  • @shawnengstrom3906
    @shawnengstrom3906 5 лет назад +1

    I think SJ is a pain and it does not mix well for me. I use hot water, mix a couple minutes with drill and paint mixer then strain in the fine mesh strainer Doc recommends. Takes a bit to strain and what is left behind is a fair amount of humic acid. . . . which should be going on the lawn, not down the drain. I have also noticed the color of my lawn to be patchy, which I have never had. I think I will stick with a granular program and some N-Ext products for soil conditioning. I figured it out and it is cheaper to do also.

  • @heavymechanic2
    @heavymechanic2 5 лет назад

    The micro-nutrients in Doc's formula does have some benefit because I have been using a similar strategy with my vegetable garden. The granular product was never intended to make a liquid and thats why you are having sediment issues. This year, I tried two products on my lawn developed by Lawncology and its a true liquid version of Kelp & Humic, it actually increased the uptake of nutrients and my lawn looks way better than ever before with little effort. I also used some synthetic granular fertilizer and a foliar application of fish hydroslate to add trace nutrients and enyzimes... I'm not against Doc's product, I just realize there are better options and many of them are less expensive to use.

    I tried the SJ and I wasn't that impressed. First off, I am in Corpus Christi and have a newly sodded (Jan '19) bermudagrass yard. I'm what you're calling an average joe, but getting to be a lawn care nut.
    The calculations - I think - are a bit complicated if you just watch Doc's videos. So I kinda thought that was a drawback. I also got the "recommended" applicator on Amazon. It is flimsy and I could've gotten a better one at Lowe's or HD (turn-off #2).
    The grass didn't do much at all, but I think that the product might've been a little light on the ratio. I haven't tried another application yet, since I didn't know how often I could apply this stuff.
    In other words, I'm not that impressed with this stuff for the price you're paying.

  • @remannhall9457
    @remannhall9457 5 лет назад

    I haven't tried SJ, but I think it could be a good Fert for long term use. It's like comparing organics to synthetics. Synthetics always work and your lawn will amazing in 3 days but that doesn't necessary mean you're soil test will come back amazing. Spoon feeding is really good for grass types like KBG and Bermuda and this might be good Fert to keep a soil test within the normal range without excessive N-P-K levels.

    The product may be good but ... accompanying it with other products, which in the end you do not know which of them was the one that solved you, that of checking your floor sounds like ... to change your house or planet, somewhat confusing, Doc is a nice man, good people, friendly and even peculiar, but so far I have not seen a video in which you see a radical change or take the grass to the level that shows in their videos, There is something like you said "Real World" ... luck with your lawn

    SJ is a product you would use as a supplement not a primary. Maybe you should test your soil. SJ, along with Doc’s program has made our yard the ‘BEST’ in our neighborhood. I have a few spots in the front, near the driveway due to our kids playing basketball but overall this product (along with others) works! We apply SJ once a week at the 7-1-2 ratio due to the GA high temps. Good luck, and I hope you see SJ for the better results it produces if you apply more often and as a supplement.

  • @georgewilson3299
    @georgewilson3299 5 лет назад +3

    Unfortunately I find your review to be less than honest. First of all, Super Juice is not marketed as a primary fertilizer. It is a supplemental product to be used in addition to a regular maintenance program which includes regular applications of fertilizer. You began applying it to your grass that had not fully emerged from dormancy. You simply cannot push a dormant lawn. Your lawn has also been inundated by deluges of rain which isn't normal and apparently has washed away much of your topsoil since you had to add peat moss. The neighbors yard is a turf type tall fescue which is a cold season grass which stays green all winter and therefore was not emerging from dormancy. You claimed that it was greening up faster than yours which was barely emerging from dormancy. That's just dishonest! You are comparing apples to oranges! Also the neighbors yard is maintained by a professional lawn service which means that it has been receiving proper fertilization at recommended intervals. I could not recommend your review as being an honest or accurate review. I noticed that you have just recently started your RUclips channel so maybe you felt that by reviewing Doc's product you could attract some of his fans to watch your channel as well. All I can say is that integrity matters and you may want to keep that in mind if you want to be successful in the future. I hope you provide better quality controls on any future reviews otherwise you'll lose trust in the accuracy of your reviews.

    • @reelbobshady7458
      @reelbobshady7458  5 лет назад +3

      Mr. Wilson, although I believe you to be genuine in your concern unfortunately you are incorrect in almost all your claims. I appreciate your comments, however I do not appreciate the implication that I am dishonest. 1) Super Juice is marketed as a primary. It says it right on Doc's website: [In the full strength of 14-2-4 (one bag per acre) it can be used as a primary fertilizer applied in times when your lawn needs the nutrients. i.e. Spring and Fall. During those periods you may want to apply every 2-4 weeks, then TONE DOWN the strength to 7-1-2 and apply as needed during the warmer months. This gives YOU total control of when and how much fertilizer your lawn gets.] Doc utilizes it as a supplement, and has started verbally saying that in his video to clear things up on how he uses it. (And, this is the correct method in my opinion) 2) My yard had been scalped, and had an initial hint of green prior to any application of SJ as I documented in video one. Doc recommended this as the optimal time for initial applications. 3) Yes, I have experienced a significant amount of rain. Which is why I clearly articulate that disclaimer in my video. It's a legitimate concern. And, also I integrated how well it was doing in my front yard to counterbalance that concern. 4) My neighbors yard is Bermuda (get your grass right). I know cool and warm season grasses. My front yard is the only yard in the neighborhood that is over-seeded with cool season grass. 5) If you are not a fan of my review, then by all means feel no pressure to recommend this review. But please do not attempt to belittle it with your inaccuracies on which it is based. 6) Yes, I have recently started my channel. I love the lawn care community. I love Doc's content just for your reference. SJ is a new product a lot of folks are interested in. My videos are simply an independent review. Thanks again!

    I’ve been following Doc’s program and recommendations for about a year now. I actually still am using the old super juice recipe from last year as opposed to the pre-made mix. It works well with additional 10-10-10 granular. The amazon page clearly states that you “could” use as primary fertilizer, but Doc recommends a soil correction with 10-10-10 and then apply super juice as the supplement.

      ReelBob Shady,
      I purchased new about 13 years ago. I fussed about the two trees in my yard as they both died within a month of owning the house and made the builder replace them. I should have left em dead, lol.
      I just paid over 1500 bux to have them removed.
      My suggestion to you is, get rid of them now. It’s not going to get any cheaper/easier to remove them.
      Bermuda does not like shade LOL.

      I can't stand the smell of Milo on my dog, so I started a Black covered bin filled with water and grass clippings poured in Milo and leave on the hottest spot on the Driveway. I made myself some Pooh soup that I then spray with a hose end sprayer. I can apply this a couple times a week. I m seeing results and the dog doesn't stink to high heaven.

    • @heinzkitzvelvet
      @heinzkitzvelvet 5 лет назад +1

      @@justicemuhammad2631 Price doesn't indicate whether the product works or not. The only way to be certain of the results, is to use it. It seems a bit pricey, but it will last all season. When I put down a bag of Milo, I get a couple months out of it, tops. Then there's that smell, which I don't mind, but I worry about the neighbours.
      I've personally had incredible results in my lawn and I was starting out with bare soil and seed 7 weeks ago. Today, using only SJ, my lawn is going gangbusters. I can't keep up with it it's growing so fast. So I'm a believer.

      @@taylorreynolds8938 I used it as my only fert for my complete, back-to-bare-dirt, renovation this spring. Super Juice has my new grass growing too fast. 24 hours after I mow, it needs mowed again because it's growing 1.5"- 2" everyday. It's exciting but dear.....GAAAWWD it's a lot of work.
      Just put my first app of Milorganite on yesterday, so it'll really be darkening up nice here in a couple of days. Not that it really needed it. Super Juice made it one of the darkest green lawns in my 'hood as it is.
