Also, I dun goofed with ATR - The Weak Willed, it's actually standard D.
4:28 Rap God
I see D... Droped my D to C... S-sharp edges.
In my honest opinion C# is one the best tuning for guitar
Could you please cover comfort betrays- as I lay dying
Nik, how did you manage to get a stable tone with a tuning this low, with a 25.5' scale.....?????
you're about to C some SHARP riffs
Yes.
Not your STANDARD kind of riffs.
You’re about to C some STANDARD SHARP riffs
;)
But like an octave lower
Awesome to hear Black Sabbath in there. The true first down tuners. Can't believe they were downturning so long in the 70's. Must have sounded so evil back then!
Into the Void will always be the world’s heaviest riff to me.
I’ve heard Tony Iommi did it because it was much easier to play without his fingertips.
C# Standard is the tunning of the gods
The whole Master of Reality album
100% agree with you
@@Cheeseboiga almost all of Vol 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and 2/3 of Sabotage too
Hate Eternal, Immolation
Venom
two words : Bolt Thrower
first band that comes to mind when talking C# tuning
Me too
For me it's Suffocation.
Effigy of the Forgotten is like the heaviest shit in the universe.
War Master and Mercenary... after those I'll only ever play C#
@@lCREEPINGDEATH1 I'm ready to buy a drop tune pedal just for bands like Bolt Thrower
I started to play C# because of bolt thrower
You did Chevelle?
And it wasn’t The Red?
I salute you sir.
Didn't realize they ever played in this tuning.
Jason LovesABR Yeah they have a few in C# Standard
Lmao
I usually play it in Drop C# i didnt know it was a C# standard song
he picked the best fuckin chevelle song
That Black Sabbath riff changed the face of metal forever. All hail Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
Coulda chucked in Children of the Grave with it.
@@gibbygano that one too. I do definetly thinl Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is heavier though
@@natmilcur into the void is heavier than both
@@speedking7224 slow doesnt equal heavy, rhythm does.
Bands in 2019: djent
Testament in 1997: JUN-JUN
^^^
Good BTBAM choice, there are literally HUNDREDS you could've chose
Best band
The riffs in The Parallax II are truly mindblowing, favorite project by them
Thanks!
I would've went with selkies off of Alaska
They only write in C# standard, so picking a heavier riff is really hard.
“ I would first love to give a shout out to my patreons............. chriswjkdkwekakdnksskkakdmkaks”
Pretty much
Respect for the Napalm Death, Suffocation, Pantera, Down, and Behemoth.
Thanks!
And dying fetus
pantera is quarter step higher
Suffocation is c standard
Lots of KILLER Dying Fetus riffs in C# Standard🤘🤘🤘
That was single best pun you’ve ever made...
I’m so damn proud of you!
Edit: I am no longer proud at the lack of Dethklok
Dethklok play c standard
@@vanhellku8698 I guess they were a semi-tone off. XD
@@starrk7158 nooooo
@@starrk7158 😂
The Drop C# pun was better :)
Hell yeah BTBAM present! And Children of Bodom too!? Excellent choices as usual 🤘
Edit: And Chevelle as well? This is now my favorite heavy riffs vid!!
:D
Oh okay c# standard. I hope I see Architects.
Edit: yay Architects
Maybe its cuz i only listen to latest 3 albums but ive always just know them to be like freaking drop F#
Corey Walvatne gotta go WAY back to get to the not so low tuned stuff
@@coreyw5981 their low tunings are still C# standard on the top 5 strings tbf. I think the last song they've done in the tuning is Colony Collapse.
And what a classic it is. I secretly like a bunch of those songs of that album.
Hell yee!
Best one you've made so far. So many badass songs and bands all throughout.
Comfortable Liar is a slower song but jams so hard. One of my favorites. Props to you for including that one sir.
Great choices on this run dude! Especially Down. One of my favorites from them!
I love watching these videos and getting new songs to listen too
Alaska!! 😍 As well as Sabbath Bloddy Sabbath! Awesome choices, now i think C# stand is my favorite tunning for metal
Thanks Fernando!
I’m so happy that you included The Weak Willed. It’s such an underrated song from All That Remains best album lol
Imagine not playing Bolt Thrower in Heaviest C# Standard Riffs
That was the first thing I was expecting from this video😅
Pretty much just clicked to see what BTBAM riff you'd pick lol.
Aha ofc!
Awesome as always Nik!
Great selection of songs!
Sick video! Always love these and it was awesome to see BTBAM on this list.
Love that you're adding more and more bands to these videos... keep it going Nik, don't let the water bottles slow you down
Thank you sooooo much Nik!!!!
I've been addicted to this tuning since Slayer's Christ Illusion and SOAD's last 2 albums. It's perfect to my ears for chunky riffs.
Early (first 2 albums) Gorguts riffs are in C# Standard.
So for me, I'd say either "Stiff and Cold" or "Disincarnated" is my favorite C# Standard song.
I'd like to see some more CoB covers from u man, awesome video! \m/
Watch your 150 riffs video like everyday. I take phone calls for a living and have to focus on what ppl are saying. So I can't listen to music with lyrics. These videos with the volume low is perfect.
Go search up andromida... thank me later
Noice
Listen to Toska :)
Animals as leaders modern day Babylon
Puns that hurt you physically... Love it.
Exactly
Chevelle is my favorite band, so glad you played Comfortable Liar!
Thank you for including a Black Sabbath song. much respect. I know young people don't pay much attention to them anymore. They were the OG drop tuners. \m/
i'm 19 and i fucking love sabbath
1:21 when I was a kid I saw the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie. In it, there's this guy in the "bad kids/Foot Clan" hideout that's absolutely shredding on the low frets on a bass guitar. For all my love of shredding on the guitar, I've always liked the look of fast, muted power chords and this sample exemplifies that perfectly. Well done as always.
The Weak Willed was originally in D. Then live when they switched to C# on Overcome, they just played it in C#.
Living Sacrifice - Symbiotic
Machine Head - I Am Hell
Slayer - Payback
All That Remains - Relinquish
BTBAM - White Walls
As much as I love Nik's stuff, that cover riff of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath shows that even if you can nail the riffs and the phrasing etc with modern gear, sometimes you just cannot capture the heaviness of the original riff. Still a great video showing tribute to some great riffs!
why don't you try and pull it off instead of bitching ??
@@Alexholbert he could easily you say that like Black Sabbath is hard as like idk suffocation
Holy shit... you actually put Chevelle on here.
Nik, I can't thank you enough for putting my favorite band on this list.
You have no idea how much respect I have for you for including Chevelle, one of the most underappreciated bands of all time, in this list.
Thanks!
nice guitar! and awesome playing
Isn't "I'm Broken" in D Standard, but ¼ of a step lower?
Yes
How do you get 1/4 of a step lower?
@@Pinewellgaze im assuming you use hz on a tuner to get the 1/4step down from D standard. Then it would be a matter of determining what the range for the 1/4step down would be. But i could be wrong, im just guessing lol
@@Pinewellgaze well, on your tuner, tune it so it keeps fluctuating between D and C# with the dot on the low and high ends, respectively. Might break your tuner but hey lmao
@@Pinewellgaze If you're using a smartphone, go to the ?123 menu, hold down on the number 1, and you should see it, although I can't guarantee that it'll be on every smartphone.
Way to go! Luv it
Kudos for including DOWN! And such a deep cut too!
This might be my favorite one yet!!
For once instead of sighing I laughed at your opener lol. Love what you do Nik.
Thanks Connor!
Standard tuning videos have been so much better than drops
Thank you, you stopped me from hurting myself off this sharp edge on my table.
I plays the floods outro in C# and i have no words its so angellic
ur videos always get me in the mood to pick up my guitar
Hell yeah BTBAM! I wish you had chosen the "start from scratch, patch the uniform" riff from Telos, but I love all their riffs anyways.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the heaviest breakdown in metal history. Being that it was from 50 years ago it wins. Thanks for including this on your list, it legitimately got me into guitar playing.
From womb to waste has one of the greatest riffs of all time, great song
Dope riffs
Love your trousers
You make Monday my favorite day of the week
The change up at 3:50 made me laugh so hard cause it fit so well🤣
Gonna try this tuning sounds like a good inbetween super drop sounding guitars and crispy notes
Some good riffs to be enjoyed by all here.
Bloodlines by Slayer is the first song that always comes to the mind for me, my favourite song from a perfect circle though.
I feel like this might be the most diverse range of styles within one of your videos.
Nik include some nevermore they’re an awesome band! R.I.P Warrel Dane
Dark Tranquillity! Yeah!
Hell yeah! Not the best riff choice though
I didn't expect there's a Malevolent Creation riff... Great man
This video could've also just been the entire Bolt Thrower discography.
C# is actually my favourite tuning in all of metal. Great job! :) Correct me, if I'm wrong, but didn't Bolt Thrower also use that tuning?
My eyes teared up when you did Black Sabbath... Hell yea!!!
Nice to see C# architects!
Came for the early COB riffs, was not disappointed!
Very nice
That video was great. Moshing out the whole time
lets just take a minute to appreciate that Black Sabbath riff.. 46 years old man.. god damn
I have no idea what key demons with Ryu is in, but it has some of my favorite guitar riffs of all time in it
Awesome 👍👍
Now for some C Standard riffs 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
C# standard riff by Chevelle and it’s not The Red?
I love you Nik
Aha thank you!
Was hoping to see some Omnium Gatherum, they've got lots of heavy stuff in C# standard
My favorite tuning ever!
Awesome video. You should do d# standard next
Chevelle! Hell yeah dude!
Ov Fire And the Void was a happy tear to my eye
Alaska looks so difficult, those power chords are moving everywhere around the fretboard at such a fast-pace. I would've just composed it to drop C#, lol.
It was one of the hardest ones to track
can't believe he played one of my riffs correctly. good job brother!!!!
C sharp standard. What a nice lil tuning.
Ohh maaaan confortable liar! I didn't see that coming jaja what a banger!
I knew disciple would be on here. 🤘
_DARKSOUL MUSIC_ always good to include some slayer
i didnt listen to Chevelle at all (2 or 3 songs maybe) , but def can say they have a very unique distinguishable sound
I've never rage quitted a video before that intro
Yes I Tune my Randy Rhoads in C#😈
Thanks you for your vidéo
Good job and good choice for the Band's you play🤘😎🤘
What da! I never know what to expect with you 😾😹
Nice to see some love for Black Sabbath!
Dark Tranquillity !!! 😱🤩😍
"Self Immolate" by King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard - it's a thrash metal riff in 15/8!
Hell yeah King Gizz! Pretty sure ITRN is entirely in C#
Architects' Post Hardcore era was so good
You should’ve done aesthetics of hate by Machine Head
It was on the bigger list actually
Yup, this one is officially my favorite. Slayer, Pantera, Cannibal, Dying Fetus, Down. 10/10, best tuning, can confirm.
Chiron by all that remains better be on here. I play that song all the time. Very fun.
Let's go first song lmao
;)
Damn bro Alaska was sick asf hell ya
Underrated tuning
Everyone complementing his playing, which is great, but can we take a moment to appreciate how he spat all those names out like that with his eyes closed?
