Excellent video on how to change the oil on the Chevy Colorado! Have you ever drilled a hole in the bottom of a filter so it would drain and not make a mess? The mechanic at my job does that when he changes oil on the vehicles there. Have you ever used the air down mode? I looked it up to see what it does and it looks pretty interesting.
@@ZJIGGA one of my first jobs was changing oil at the local tire lube express so, a little oil splash not a big deal. As far as the air down mode. I have not tried it yet but does seem pretty convenient when needed.
That display is pretty cool. Shows your brake pad percentage and oil temps. I've been using Amsoil Signature Series 5w 30 on my 2018 6.2 Sierra. I prefill my filters and from watching FordBossMe I learned about flood mode. My 2018 and my 2006 Yukon have this. Floor the gas pedal and then start. Engine will crank, but not start. It will fill the oil filter if you did not prefill after oil change. I also do flood mode if truck has sat for a few weeks before initial start up.
I've got a 23 Z71 with 15,000 miles on it that I've noticed oil consumption on. At 1,000 miles on my current interval it showed no sign of loss. At 1,500 miles on the interval it dropped 1/3 of the way on the stick. I'm close to 3000 now and it's a little over half way down on the stick. Wish I knew the issue, but it currently doesn't meet any oil consumption limits for GM for them to address anything. Gonna try a different brand of oil next interval and see if anything changes (currently on Mobil 1 5W-30 Extended Performance).
Thank you for sharing the oil change video for the Chevrolet Corado. I am considering buying the basic LT trim and I hope the oil pan is likenthe one you have in your truck. How has been your experience with the Colorado?
My dad used to do it to help thin the oil before he changed it so it would all run out, and quickly but with today's oil being 0w or 5w, it usually drains like water anyway.
@@theoriginalfuzzlemutt7526 you are probably right about these new oils draining easily. Unfortunately I'm an old dog so, it's hard for me to change old habits... 😂

You know what, you are right. I just looked it up, and although Amsoil states it exceeds all specifications of dexos1 gen 3 it's not certified. @@T_B_C_L Yes, not Dexos (per the bottle, at least) .....See what Amsoil says. Dexos has to be an ingredient similar to Dexron, which is the additive GM puts in their transmission fluid
@dennyarnold4338 from my investigation, in order to have the dexos label of approval, the company has to pay for it. According to all my research, Amsoil meets or exceeds all the dexos1 gen 3 expectations, they just don't pay for the certification. Knowing this I guess you just have to make the decision to run it or not. I see many oil brands with the dexos1 gen 3 certification, including brands like Kirkland, arco, O'REILLY.
