I wish I didn't find eating so complicated - after years of binging and restricting, I don't really know what's normal anymore

I do feel you!!! It shouldn’t be this hard! It can be easy again but it takes Re-learning! You got this!

For me personally, I eat too fast and so I don’t feel full until it’s too late. So I find doing other things when eating slows me down and help me know when I’m actually full.
Anyways, thanks Colleen! Can’t wait for the challenge!!!

Colleen, how do you tell the difference between being unsatisfied because of the food itself and being emotionally unsatisfied? I have a hard time getting satisfied when doing mindful eating practices because my mind tends to stress out on it.

Do you know why fullness sometimes feels queasiness especially when you eat just protein like meat? Or just 2 eggs. And it fills you up quickly why is that?

Experiment! Maybe your body needs carbs with it ❤️ see if that feels better

Scrolling through Instagram actually helps me to eat slower and to stop and think about my hunger/fullness. I always eat really quickly even as a kid I've always done that but when I'm on IG or reading a book I chew slower, I notice tastes more, I pay more attention to my food. Can't watch a show and eat though! Just reading or scrolling!

i want to try your hunger and fullness challenge!!!! however, i lost all my hunger and fullness cues from having anorexia. even tho i’ve been consistently eating for the past 5 months, they are still not back. do you think i should try your challenge or do you think i’m not at that stage yet????? it is really frustrating....my body is sending no signals to me. i literally feel neutral all the time. after a full meal, i feel no fullness. and i never feel hungry

I’d highly recommend anyone with an ED to work with a dietitian 1:1!

Inetant follow. Are you familiar with how Autism can affect this? I have a difficult time knowing how I feel unless it's on one extreme or the other.

4:51 this will be hard. I am in eating disorder recovery and the thought of sitting alone with s meal is scary. I do experience hunger and I am getting good at eating when I am hungry but gosh trying to figure out weather or not I am full is the challenge. I’ll try to start small with like 1 meal a day for now.

Colleen, thank you so much for what you do. It is apparent in every video how passionate you are about helping people. I am just getting started on my Intuitive Eating/body acceptance journey after a couple decades worth of diet and binge eating cycles. I love how straight forward your videos are. I learned about the Body Kindness book from you and am actually working with Rebecca now!! Thanks for all you do!!

i have a friend who finishes her plate even tho she is full due to not wanting to waste food. also do you have advice if someone eats food at someone’s house but then feels full before finishing the meal, and feels like it’s rude if they don’t finish the food that someone prepared???

I always put leftovers in a container! You could ask them to to the same, take them with, compost etc!

Limiting distractions is HARD but sooo good and makes the eating more enjoyable by far!!!

I think my fullness has a really wide range because i eat when i get hungry and i eat just a little and I'm not hungry anymore but when i eat till fullnes (what i thing satisfaction is, like a little hurt and tightness in my stomack) it takes a hooole lot more food like it could be 5 or 6 more meals.

So a lot of this syncs or goes along well with cbt that I've learned for anxiety. As an emotional eater, the limit distractions, grounding (mindfulness) so makes sense.
Food waste could also be anxiety of fear of not having future food... so cbt of reframing (remind yourself there will be food in future, put remainder in container/fridge for later etc)
