I have gained so much weight over the years and it’s all due to dieting! When I tell myself I can eat what I want, when I want, then I find I’m not hungry and I eat what my body truly needs. But then someone posts a new diet/exercise plan and there I go down the rabbit hole to gaining more weight and feeling horrible about myself! I’m so glad I found your channel.🌸
When you talked about the ice cream, it clicked for me. This is me with chocolate. I actually accidently started always having chocolate in the house recently and, dare I say, I eat less chocolate now that I always have access to it?
I've done this since my midteens (got sick of the American food culture of overeating) and just thought I was a food rebel. But I can't function without regular moderate food intake (it's hard for me to diet), while at the same time I HATE the feeling of being overstuffed. Thanks for helping make intuitive eating a normal idea.
I have struggled with guilt about food for so many years that I can’t even really process this now. I just want to eat when I want and what I want. No Optavia! No keto! No starvation!
I just found your channel, and I am so excited because this is exactly what I needed! I struggled with an eating disorder all through high school and into college. Now I have gained 30 lbs in three years, plus I have had a baby. I commonly restrict my food, then end up binging because I am starving. I am so excited to give intuitive eating a try! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge here!
I was at my breaking point, frantically looking for a plan/diet that would work for me, I stumbled on you noom review and was interested in what your eating advice was. I watched one of your videos and it made me believe that I could actually live my life without a diet, and be HAPPY. Im very new to all of your advice, but I did sign up for emails and received the 5 steps to food freedom. So right now I’m DECLARING my freedom from food.
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a method to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
Just found you today through your Noom review. I hit subscribe somewhere around 2 minutes in. Intuitive eating makes so much more sense than counting calories and being miserable all the time.
i’m new and really hopeful that this will change my relationship with food. i don’t quite know if i am going to gain maintain or lose weight, because on the one hand i actually eat like i’m on diet all the time but on the other hand i binge eat a lot. and gained a lot of weight. so i actually hope to lose weight but i know that i have to get rid of this thought to actually make it happen.. which is quite confusing but i’m gonna try my best.
This video helped me so much and helped me realize what food rules have been ingrained into me since I was young. I'm going to do some journaling and follow your suggestions!
Colleen I just want to take a moment to say thank you for all that you do! I've been watching your channel trying my hardest to guide myself through the intuitive eating process. There is just one thing I can't get over, my compulsion to finish everything. You've made a video about feeling your hunger and I understand it was something you've struggled with. I on the other hand don't feel my fullness. I've been eating myself to sickness despite seriously not wanting to. I've tried mantras, I've tried journaling, and I use the hunger scale. Regardless satisfaction doesn't come until the whole of something is gone. Please please please make a video on reconnecting with fullness cues. This compulsion has me feeling so low.
Hey Madison! I totally get this! Since I can remember I have always needed to finish everything that was on my plate, regardless of fullness, and also eat everything to the end, being it a tub of ice cream or a sharing bag of crisps. After a lot of thinking and looking into why I did those things, I realised that having to eat everything that was on my plate stemmed from listening to my parents tell me I could not leave the dinning table until I had finished everything on my plate. It just stuck to my subconscious like super glue. The need for having to eat things to the end like ice cream and crisps, is mostly for fear that they may not be there at a later time if I leave any. Talking to friends about it, a lot of them said they had the same feelings. Would this be applicable to you, do you think?
@@annatraveltips5119 I agree with you. Being told as a child that I needed to finish everything on my plate has definitely affected my eating in my adult life. I still feel guilty when I can't finish something on my plate, and I find that if it is a big meal prepared by someone else, I go past the point of fullness and stuff myself just so that I dont appear rude by leaving too much food on the plate :/
I’m so glad I stumbled on this channel. I’ve tried all of the different diets. I’ve been beating my head against a wall trying to lose weight. I know I have to be in a calorie deficit, but I don’t want to be obsessing over this forever. I’ve started incorporating a lot more veggies in my diet and working on moderating. I’m about to ditch my calorie counter.
I used to love bagels, but I'm really scared of them now. Your channel gives me hope that one day soon I can start to normalize them again :) thank you so much
Thanks so much for all of this. I need to try the journaling. I’ve been trying this way of life for maybe 18 months and I still go back and forward. But I do feel like I’m starting to turn a corner!
Anyone else have an issue with buying food and hoarding it vs eating it. I notice i do this when I go shopping I see snacks and food that I really want to eat. Buy it and be so satisfied having it but then I dont eat it. Most of the time it goes bad or other people in the house eat it. Btw im obese 372lbs and I eat 1-2 meals a day with 0 exercise and I drink plenty of water. After I got off keto I just don't care to eat the food. Idk whats wrong with me lol
I am new and just read the OG intuitive eating book! I am loving your channel, a breath of fresh air from my usual channels discussing the newest diet or best way to lose weight. Thanks!
im actually starting to lose quite a lot of weight with intuitive eating. Its hard to not let it get to you and make you restrict some type of food by fear to go back to your unhealthy weight. thereforeeee i got a little bowl of chips to remind myself its not "bad" hahaha 😋😋😋
This is so encouraging to me. I know intuitive eating isn't necessarily about losing weight but I have some weight related health issues and I really want to try intuitive eating but I've been worried I won't reach my goals if I do.
@@Awall79 Let go of the goals. Let your body reach its natural weight. Eat to feel good and eat all the things you wouldn't before. It's not easy and it takes time but be patient :) let it go!

I have such an issue with eating whatever I want due to the fact I have type 1 diabetes and I would love to just have any sort carb-y thing to snack on or eat. That’s my biggest hurdle I think is eating carbs aka not found in protein or vegetables. Or actually eat a fruit not because my blood sugar is low.
