    I just want to thank you for these videos. I am trying to change the way I eat, and I've come across a lot of things that don't seem sustainable for real life. Like, I am not going to give up baked goods and ice cream forever. That life just seems sad. Hearing you talk about intuitive eating makes SO MUCH SENSE. I'm really working on taking control of what I eat and CHOOSING to eat it because I want it... not just because it's there or I'm feeling stressed. THANK YOU for reinforcing this. I will now watch all your other videos.

    REBECCA, 3 months ago i decided to be healthy and i went on a food experiment where i needed to know which is better for me,exercise or eating healthy. LOL. it was an experiment. but it wasn't until a month ago i came across your page and learnt from the nutrition 101 and intuitive eating videos. AND i absolutely love it. there's not a time in my life up until now where i eat and im satisfied. For the past years i've been eating and right after a meal i would feel hungry again,right after i ate like 4 slices of pizza. so i decided to eat whole foods like you recommended and i feel soooooo fill ,all the time....no excessive snacking and i am just grateful because in this process i shed my waist line without even trying.iTs AMAZING. Im more filled and at my lightest weight since i turned 20.Oh and about the exercise, i started last week,i try to do it in the morning just because it makes me feel good. its like my alone time with my favourite music.
    THANK YOU, REBECCA.
    there are just too many people on youtube telling me i need to count my food and count this and that and eat protein bars and whey powder. But you taught me health and im extremely appreciative of you. Those stuff wasn't there 20 years ago and people could eat healthy so why can't i? Also, because of you i tried the banana oats and i love it ,its my favourite thing to have for breakfast.

    Becca - I wached a recent video you posted regarding Intuitive Eating and it helped me so much when you mentioned your physical queue your body sends you when you're starting to feel satiated -- you take a deep breath. I've been really trying to listen to my bodies physical queues and noticed that I also do the same thing. This has helped me so much! Thank you!

    Becca, this was so helpful. I'm on a second weight loss journey and I'm following intuitive eating rather than Weight Watchers or 21 Day Fix. I try to eat healthy most of the time because I love it but it's SOOOO nice to go to DQ and get a small blizzard if I want one. I truly feel more in tune with my body. This has truly helped me to appreciate my food to a whole new level. Thank you for the information and real life knowledge! So far I'm already feeling so much happier. Thank you!!!!

    I love this video! I just watched your other video on intuitive eating and I've felt like something was off even though my calories proved otherwise. I definitely separate my mind from my body, trying to have the numbers tell me when I'm full. I've had a similar experience with overeating and not know when to stop because I feel restricted, but these videos opened my eyes on what was missing. I love it! Thanks you and I would love to hear more on this!

    You are spot on! Thanks for helping me remember this. I did this before and was SO happy and my weight naturally dropped and I was mentally healthy. I loved just having 1 bite of something sweet. I would find myself not finishing food naturally because my BODY was in control. It's the BEST feeling. Can't wait to do this again. Also, it's crazy how I developed other hobbies and interests for the first time. It's so crazy. Was amazing to have all that extra space in my head to fill was other things and other heathier ways to indulge myself.

    Great video! Informative and common sense. I love that you differentiate between food rules and food beliefs. It think that is very important. I also appreciate the perspective that it can takes months and even years to be fully I tune with body signals and cues and the importance of having grace for ourselves. I’m looking forward to a diet free life. Diets have not served me well over these many decades. But I have to admit that the thought of giving up food rules is anxiety producing.

    but seriously! becca, i love this video because you are so open and honest and a lot of what you had to say was relate-able to not just myself, but i am guessing many, many people! i have struggled with an eating disorder (different kinds at different times), depression, and anxiety since i was 12 years old. i have hit rock bottom and my 99% recovered peak up and down so many times... today i am 23 and though i still have a lapse here an there, they do not intimidate me and take control of me the same way that it used to. i feel every day i am getting stronger and closer to being able to say i am 100% recovered. thank you for this video and all of your videos! love you!

    Hey B, I just watched your Intuitive Eating video from 1/2017. Great video. I wrote down the tips and I'm excited to start using them. My worst habit is being distracted while eating (looking at facebook, surfing the internet, shopping, etc.) Thank you for making these videos!!!

  • @mariaaugone3699

    This video gives me a lot to think about. About a year ago I made a decision to get healthy and feel good about myself again after gaining 30 lbs in my 4 years of college (I was in my senior year at the time) I started by finding a workout routine that I enjoyed, as well as eating balanced cleaner meals. Making this drastic change from eating horrible fast foods, fried foods, over eating etc I had no idea what my body wanted or needed anymore so I used my fitness pal to count calories in a normal range to loose an appropriate amount of weight in a healthy manner. AFter months of all of these things I saw such a change in my body, mind and digestion and felt amazing. I know you talk so much about how diets and counting calories are harmful but now that I know how much my body needs and what feels right I am able to eat intuitively without counting the calories, If there was a day I felt I needed to eat more or less, I did. I totally understand where you’re coming from when you say it’s better just to be completely intuitive with your eating habits but sometimes it’s hard to start off that way if you are living a very unhealthy lifestyle. My point is everything in moderation and balance is ok:) and it did help me to become intuitive in the way I eat. I love your channel and have learned so much from you! I have become interested in becoming an RD so many of your tips have helped me ❤️

    • @mariaaugone3699
      @mariaaugone3699 6 лет назад

      Side note: I think it’s okay to want to lose weight to feel better about yourself and be happy with yourself. Rather than doing it because you’re comparing yourself to others (obviously not ok) In my case I gained 30 lbs from eating like crap everyday for years and felt horrible so yes I wanted to make a change in a healthy, steady, slow way. Anyone agree?

    This is such a struggle for me. I constantly overeat and frequently limit myself. I am not overweight and don't have any serious problems with food. I just don't know how to find the balance. I limit myself and then go crazy when I allow myself to have "bad" foods. For me, that's mostly sweets and sugary treats. I don't want to allow myself to eat anything and everything, because I don't want to gain weight. I have a hard time controlling myself. Going out to eat and just food in general makes me anxious. How do you get out of that cycle??

      @tbry123 5 лет назад +1

      Late reply here but better late than never! I completely understand your struggle and actually just read the original Intuitive Eating book which gave so much helpful advice. You have to give yourself unconditional permission to eat all foods, including those “forbidden” sugary foods you mentioned. It sounds terrifying and your first thought is, “I’m just going to overeat and gain weight.” You have to reassure yourself that it is okay to eat and to feel pleasure (not guilt) in the foods you like. A lot of people end up binging the foods they’ve been craving once they start the journey to intuitive eating because it opens them up to things they felt they couldn’t have. But because you’re allowed to eat those things, the deprivation factor lessens and you find that you don’t want them as much because they’ll always be there and available if you do want them. It keeps you from falling into the cycle of binging, feeling guilty, then restricting. You just have to be sure to check in on yourself while you’re eating. Is that what you want to it? Is it satisfying you? And are you full? It seems like a lot at first, especially when you’re really out of tune with your body, but the likelihood of you gaining a ton of weight is not great. Life is too short to have a million rules around eating and not enjoying yourself. This helps you do that while also being in tune with your body and what it wants and rebuilding a relationship with food and with yourself.

    Great video. Good to hear your story and learn about intuitive eating. I eat that way but do calorie restrict to maintain my weight. Question, if someone is overweight like 50-100 pounds will intuitive eating eventually work to get that amount of weight off. I don’t think you mentioned how this works with overweight people.

    • @lindtothesayyy
      @lindtothesayyy 5 лет назад +1

      robin d I think it would work with overweight people the same. You just listen to your body and only eat when it’s telling you to eat. And if you have nutrient-dense food, limiting processed foods, your body will become in tune to your signals much faster and the weight that needs to come off, will. If you eat mostly processed foods with no nutrients you’ll always feel hungry and probably overeat. Fit people who have been restricting for years have the same issues with hunger/fullness cues as overweight people, we just restrict versus overeat. But regardless the signals are off. I would love to hear how to balance Health with intuitive eating. I have intuitively ate for awhile and I am eating healthier now. But man I can’t deny processed food is addictive

    Becca, would you suggest getting rid of scale since sometimes the scale can make us feel like omg I need to lose 2 lbs so I need to restrict. Or can you suggest maybe what you do? Like weighing every so often or not weighing at all? Or can we make the assumption that we are feeding our bodies what it needs when it needs so there for why is weighing even needed? Thanks for the video!

      Yes! Ditch the scale I can’t tell you how much happier I am now and I never weigh myself, when I did I would obsessively weigh myself every day, and would get upset at the slightest change in weight. Plus the scale can’t tell you everything it doesn’t know what you eat, it doesn’t know how much muscle you have. Weighing my self would always make me feel down, and I’m at happy healthy weight without doing it! So in my opinion ditch it, I know I’m not Becca but hope that helps! 😊💕

    It’s so sad that it looks like everyone in our society deals with ed or had an ed in the past. Why so? Like seriously why we are dealing with digestion and food issues? Why can’t we skip this and just be healthy and happy?

    I went to a health Dr this past summer and he told me to give up gluten & dairy for a couple months. I literally couldn't move forward. I was like wait what how do I do that? I had given up most gluten before and I honestly don't love that many dairy products but the fact that he put like a ban on them..I couldn't move. I was like you don't understand I have 3 very little kids I'm taking care of on a daily basis. I hardly have time to eat anything let alone have these food rules. I gave up going to him, I felt he didn't give enough clear direction or help with the nutrition. Now I'm pregnant with my 4th & I'm dying to feel healthy, mainly because I'm in the first trimester sickness. I also don't want to struggle with my weight(like always) after baby. So once I feel better hopefully 16-20 weeks, I want to try gluten and dairy free but I really rather focus on healthy meals with veggies at every meal!

    I really do like this mindset. What do you think of limiting certain foods or drinks you are addicted too. For example, I truthfully feel that I am addicted to Diet Coke. I have not had it since the new year. I don't know if I can have Diet Coke in moderation. So, while I don't have many food rules I do think I should keep this one rule. Thoughts?

      Liz P Not everyone would agree, but I vote yes. Since starting the Ketogenic diet, which pretty much eliminates sugar, I’ve realized I was completely addicted to sugar. After a few months I tried some of my vices-milkshakes, cupcakes, etc- and while they still tasted fine, I didn’t feel as euphoric eating them as I used to. Still, when I’m sad or stressed, the first thing I want is one of those, so I know it’s an unhealthy addiction and therefore cut them out. Maybe try some club soda next time those Diet Coke cravings kick in. It’s both natural and artificial sugar free but might help curb the craving. Hope this helps!

    It's easy to let go of food rules, but I need to lose these last 13kg left. That's more important for me right now. Once I reach my goal weight, I'm going to intuitive eat.

    If I should eat when I'm hungry then does that mean I have to ditch my regular routine? I thought it's healthy to eat at regular times... do you skip breakfast or lunch when you're not hungry or do you still have it because you know that otherwise you're gonna be hungry like a bear in two hours? Or just eat when you are finally hungry? I'd be so happy about some advice! :)

      To be honest I’m usually hungry every few hours since I usually (not always tho) stop eating when I’m full, so it’s very rare if I skip meals. In the case that a overeat at time point tho, I may not be as hungry later and might have just a snack or skip a meal all together. Doesn’t happen often, but I just try to listen to my body and follow its lead!
