Hearing Merrill Reese say, "The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions" brought a tear to my eye. I've been listening to this man broadcast Eagles games my whole life. My dad listened to his broadcasts for all of his life as well. And finally, after so many decades, he got to announce to Philadelphia that the Eagles were Super Bowl champions. What an incredible moment.
George Mason living in Philadelphia for my 28 years rite by cottman an frankford...it was just like Harry calling the phillies world series. For these type of people I get so happy when the city does good. And for the birds to finally get one for Mer and every one in Philly it's beautiful
Hearing Merrill Reese say the Eagles are Super Bowl Champions made me cry just as much as hearing Harry Kalas say the Phillies were World Champions back in '08.
Giants and Mets fan here....Harry K I always LOVED! Merrill another one as a south jersey product I also am happy for to FINALLY win! Half my family are eagles fans and as much as I hate viscerally the team and organization, I love.the PEOPLE, the FANS

hamhockbeans I kinda feel for Quick. Because as great as a receiver as he was, he never had the opportunity to play in the big one. Hate seeing great player never getting the chance. Especially, great Eagles. But, he got to call the first one the Birds brought home. Had to be somewhat redeeming for him. #flyeaglesfly
TheSecDef Yeah. He was excited for the birds going to the Bowl back in 2005. I am glad he and Dawkins finally got rewarded for all they put in with the Eagles through their time with the birds. Now I feel bad that Chip Kelly let McCoy go he should be getting one. Fly Champs Fly!!
TheSecDef Damn it is going on week two from that day our dreams came true and for me it still feels like a dream. I bet in the home opener what the birds did is gonna hit us like a sludge hammer when all three banners are hung. Especially that Super Bowl one I am gonna get emotional again even before the players get their ring.

Or two...the division champs and super bowl. I’m guessing anyway. But, need to have Dallas in the home opener to troll them. And troll them at the draft, too. HAHAHAHA
This... this is the moment that makes it all worth it... To hear Merrill Reese announce that the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champions is what makes being a fan of this squad worth it for all these years!
As a Cowboy fan, I've always wondered what this guy looks like. Greatness! Thank you so much for posting this. Congratulations, guys. You've now made the NFC East the only all-champ division in football. Way to go! BEAUTIFUL!!! :D
Merrill Reese is a treasure here in the Philadelphia region. Thank you for your decency towards us sir. Nfc is down right now but still the greatest division in the NFL bar none
@@natep9997 I'm looking forward to our next trip to the playoffs, Nate - hopefully, that will be soon, and I'm hoping and praying for the Lombardi Trophy to come to our Eagles again!

You know what i love about Reese calling the games? He doesn’t call them like an announcer, he calls them like a fan. He knows the players like his own kids. When we’re up, he’s up. When we’re down, he’s down. Reese is the guy i want to sit next to at a bar watching an Eagles game, hand down.
I've been waiting for this shot. I wish it were longer. I could watch the entire game of just him announcing this one bobbing back and forth in anticipation. Love you Merrill.
I love Cris Collinsworth. He is a great analyst. (He) Has a great voice. There was nothing partial toward the Patriots in his commentary during that Super Bowl. He was giving analyses predicated on the "catch rules" at that time. Rules, as an avid NFL fan I am happy to say, have been discarded.

Finally We get to hear Merrill Reese call the Eagles World Champs. Hard to believe Merrill had to wait 40 yrs out where as HK had to wait 28 yrs, Hearing this makes me smile and I almost had tears in my eyes.
Harry had two rings with the Phillies (1980 & 2008), yet he was denied calling the '80 WS, which caused Phillies fans to petition MLB to allow local broadcasters like Kallas to call WS games on the radio. MLB granted this and Harry got to finally call that final out live in '08.

Fins fan here too but I live near Philly. I've heard him calling games my entire life. He is second to none. I'm so happy for him, Quick, and all the fans really. We know the agony of defeat as Dolphins fans obviously. But it's cool to see the Eagles finally win one.
It was very cool to see Merrill looking for people to celebrate with after and during each call... such genuine love for the team. Also, I guess he was standing the entire 2nd half????!
That’s like the line about another Philly institution-John Facenda of NFL Films and Channel 10. Steve Sabol said of Facenda “he could make a laundry list sound dramatic”. Re: Reese, never dull..you can always tell how the Eagles are doing by his voice.
Thank you Merrill and Mike!!! Thank you so much for all your play by plays!" Philadelphia Eagles fans, are blessed to have the greatest man on the mic, Merrill Reese. I got the chills listening and watching this made me cry. WE DID IT!!! WE FINALLY GOT OUR SUPERBOWL!!!
Swear, that was the most stressful and beautiful game I ever watched. I think me, like Merril in this clip, was waiting somehow for brady to win the game even after 00:00. even when the confetti came down. Thank god!
Living local legend, just like Harry, Zink, and Gene Hart. Heck, even the late Bill Campbell calling Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in Hershey is considered legendary (even to the point that Kobe Bryant, whose father played for the Sixers in the 1970s, could have easily surpassed Chamberlain's record, but benched himself out of respect for the record, as Wilt didn't have a 3-point arc in his playing days).
God Bless you Merrill! We did it! I've been listening to you all my life... No one deserves it more than you Sir! Incredible moment. "The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champions!" #FlyEaglesFly
The day the eagles won the superbowl so far has been the happiest day of my life. Everytime i watch those videos it gives me memories and tears run down my eyes . I cant help it
Harry Kalas and Merrill Reese. The two best commentators in the history of sports both honored the same city with their voices. And it shows a lot that we as Philly fans go so far as to love our commentators as much as our players. I don't think I could say the same for other cities.
Am Steelers fan and it hit me just like you see lifelong Eagles fans. I cried and it didn’t hurt that Tom Brady got beat in another Super Bowl either. Congrats Eagles fans everywhere.
4 weeks ago getting hyped for the biggest game in our lives. Can't believe it still getting emotional when I see, hear or think about the Birds winning their first Super Bowl. So many amazing stories about this team all year long and some of the classiest players in NFL history on this team. Jenkins and Long showed unity from the get go and everybody just bought into it and Coach Ped's calm, easygoing demeanor. Never have I been so proud of a team even if they had not won it was an amazing ride. Had to come back to watch this because I want this feeling again this year!!
Mike's eyes when he saw the scoreboard...same fucking reaction I had. That's a moment I will NEVER forget. I fucking cried.
Everytime he said Eagles win the super bowl the tears start flowing again lmao
Jay Starr ...lol...DITTO bro
Me too
I swear these two n the silent team are the BEST EVER!
Yah, watching them silently celebrate and punch each other on the shoulder cracks me up.
Thank you, Merrill - for you and Mike have made me very happy, as an Eagles fan, and as a football fan.
@George M The Last Call By Merrill Reese is The Best!
I love listening to Merrill call games. I am a Dolphins fan and I would take him over Jimmy Cefalo any day of the week.
Fins fan here too but I live near Philly. I've heard him calling games my entire life. He is second to none. I'm so happy for him, Quick, and all the fans really. We know the agony of defeat as Dolphins fans obviously. But it's cool to see the Eagles finally win one.
Better than that stinking Collingsworth Merrill is the best
It was very cool to see Merrill looking for people to celebrate with after and during each call... such genuine love for the team. Also, I guess he was standing the entire 2nd half????!
reminds me of harry kalas when the philles won in 08. glad they both got to experience that. they deserve it
Merrill waited a long time for this one. Happy for him. Go EAGLES! 🦅
Merrill Reese could make the DMV exciting.
That's one I've never considered!
That’s like the line about another Philly institution-John Facenda of NFL Films and Channel 10. Steve Sabol said of Facenda “he could make a laundry list sound dramatic”. Re: Reese, never dull..you can always tell how the Eagles are doing by his voice.
Whenever I'm having a bad day I come to this video and it makes me smile! Still can't believe we did it
When he belted out, "And the kick is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!" was awesome. What a moment.
that one is for you merrill😄 . enjoy it cuz there would be more to come.... ps I'll see u Thursday at the museum
I had my little 3C battery am/fm radio playing alongside the tv. Merle Reese killed it. Cris collinsworth bombed .
I'm soooo happy for Merrill and Mike!!!!
Swear, that was the most stressful and beautiful game I ever watched. I think me, like Merril in this clip, was waiting somehow for brady to win the game even after 00:00. even when the confetti came down. Thank god!
Congratulations, Merill! You deserve this!!!
So great !! Legendary !!! Puts a chill down my spine even several days later !!!!
I love that Mike Quick was respectful enough to stay quiet while Merryl said they won
I come back to this video from time to time to happy cry. Can't wait for the 20-21 season
Nitro Gaming same

I'm in tears again. Still fresh...
Video has 822 likes, zero dislikes. What more do you want to know about Merrill Reese?
Brendan The man is a legend.
I cant help it
Me too
@@jenellreid9610 do u believe in hurts?
My Mom passed in 2009 and was a HUGE Eagles fan (who went to the 60 championship), I always think of her when i see videos of the SB
Seeing Merril Reese get emotional got me emotional again
glad we got one in his time
This will never ever ever get old.
4:10 - 4:14 Just let those 6 words sink in for a moment. A truly momentous occasion. 🦅
Most iconic voice in Eagles history still makes me happy watching this!
Harry Kalas and Merrill Reese. The two best commentators in the history of sports both honored the same city with their voices. And it shows a lot that we as Philly fans go so far as to love our commentators as much as our players. I don't think I could say the same for other cities.
2 days later, and hearing Merril say, the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions, broke down again!!!! Fuckin goosebumps for real
This call by Merrill and Mike took away a lot of pain in my life.
I am a Texans fan but damn this was heartwarming.
Am Steelers fan and it hit me just like you see lifelong Eagles fans. I cried and it didn’t hurt that Tom Brady got beat in another Super Bowl either. Congrats
Eagles fans everywhere.
I absolutely love merril his passion is felt worldwide
Somewhere the late great Harry Kalas was smiling for Merrill
Since moving from South Jersey to Las Vegas in 1994, I have still found ways to listen to Merrill and Mike for every Eagles game.
Really wish I could watch the broadcasts with these guys calling.
You'll never walk alone Eagles the phaitful will always remember this one and dinner probably free for life for any member of the LII winning team when in Philly. Fly Eagles Fly!
