Thanks. I'm just in the process of making a new video, it's been a while. I love my RRS and am keeping it, for the time being, I'll touch on the subject in the new video.
Hi David, I also have had this done to my 2011 RRS. But I just got both done and you were correct its like a new motor. Both economically much better along with a noticeable improvement to the performance. George
Hi mate, my disco 3 I've just had both off manifolds. It's not a body off job but it is tight getting them out. It would be a push to get it done in 9hr I'd say all day and the next till lunch. You would have to take the fan off, loosen the cam cover off because the 2nd Bank manifold goes under the top of the cam cover. Bearing in mind injectors out, fuel rails and associated looms 👍
Thanks for the info. I think if my other projects are finished and the garage is free, if the other manifold goes I may consider having a go at changing it myself.....I think!!!!
In a previoua video you had talked about making a video on greasing the lower steering column. In the video I could not see a grease nipple or any where you could add grease to the unit. Have I missed that video or has that not be filmed yet? Thanks in advance.
Hi, I haven't covered that yet, but I will show it in a video soon. There is no grease nipple. Because the U/J is exposed it needs to be kept greased to avoid ceasing as mine did. I will smear grease around the U/J which is the only protection you can give it.
@@davidbaughI have just had this problem myself. I caught it early enough and have solved it (for the time being - let’s hope! I raised the suspension to maximum height, then drove the front wheels onto a pair of wheel ramps. Using a LED light, I located the lower Steering UJ. Over the course of an hour, I sprayed WD40 lubricant and corrosion inhibitor (spray 2 ways) onto the UJ, 3 times. Then when it had almost dried, sprayed WD40 Liquid grease over it. Took it for a test drive and the stiffness had all gone. Then put it back on the ramps and used the spray grease again. It now drives like a dream again! Fairly convinced that not using it enough, enhances the problem by allowing corrosion to start inside the UJ. So will keep greasing it every few months from now on.
Thanks for your video! I’ve got a 2010 Sport, it’s got same warning restricted performance and now smoking from engine bay today, I’m hoping it’s only a crank shaft breather valve but most prob inlet manifold , unsure was yours blowing smoke much?
Hi, I never noticed any smoke coming from anywhere in the engine bay. I would take the engine cover off and move the foam away slightly from each inlet manifold and see if there is any oil gunge evident, this would be an inlet manifold leak (see mine in the video). Is your Restricted Performance on all the time, mine only came on when on medium to hard acceleration when the second turbo operated. When I stopped the car for a few minutes and restarted the warning disappeared. If yours is the offside inlet manifold would be the issue. As you said it may be a different issue. I bought a Diagnostic tool which confirmed my issue (Highly recommend getting one, paid for itself already.) It would help confirm the issue. A smoke test would also identify the leak, I believe you can make one or Amazon is your friend!! My issue was clearly evident, if yours has only just happened it maybe harder to trace. With the smoke happening in real time it's possible you may be able to trace it, however the engine bay is rather cramped. Sorry I can't help with the issue, but the fact it's happening in real time may point you in the right direction. Can't recommend a diagnostics tester enough. Good Luck, interested to see how you get on. Cheers David

Hi, have you found an improvement in mpg? I watched a couple of videos from people who have replaced one and convinced me to pay a specialist, my excuse was I have another car in the garage in bits..... I don't think £1100 is a bad price, The indy I use is good and very competitive with his prices. Cheers David
@davidbaugh mine had only cracked a tiny bit so all I got was very random restricted performance - economy seems about the same at mid 30's on a run. Smoother though and a bit quieter
I’ve just ran into this issue on my L405 Range. What a ball ache! Where abouts are you based out of interest, would be interested in speaking to your mechanic who done yours.
Hi, I'm based in North Birmingham. As I've said in a few of my videos Ive had a few jobs carried out by James and highly recommend him. Here's a link. jmblandroverservices.co.uk
No problem, hope you can get it sorted. If you ever need a transmission flush I've a video and recommend a mobile specialist I've used. Law the best David

what's the part # on manifold intake- restrictive power

Hi David, I've just had exactly the same job done on mine. It's definitely not a body off job it's just fiddly. I paid almost £1100
