I'm going in for a gastric emptying test in about 8 hours, and have been experiencing a lot of anxiety about it. I found your video to be very informative, which helped to sooth a little bit of my stress. Thank you!
@@paulgonzales1041 it's only a small amount of radiation so it is safe seeing as you'll only be doing it once. If you were eating radioactive eggs every day that's another story but it this situations the benefits would outweigh the risks and the dose isn't large enough to be particularly dangerous.
Im having my gastric emptying study on the July 15 and this video helped me understand what will be done . I’ve had my gallbladder removed in 2018 and I’m still experiencing stomach issues I’ve been diagnosed with gastritis and I have an hiatal hernia on my esophagus so this test is important because I get acid reflux in my sleep and I’m afraid I would choke because it comes up and exits my nose it’s so annoying
Getting this test done early in the morning. The clinic im going to told me i can't eat after midnight and my options were oatmeal or beef stew. I was diagnosed with chronic gasteritis, two different sugar intolerances, and BAM. I was hoping I'd get to eat eggs but nope. Now I'm worried i'll have to run to the bathroom after eating. I don't believe i have gastropasis if anything i figure i empty to fast that's probably why i get sick if i dont eat enough or wait to long to eat i get sick. Luckily my test is only going to last two hours instead of the 4 hours. I'm a bit nervous but this video is helpful.
@jenniferholland9656 thanks. I survived. I ended up very sick the night before because of anxiety and bile reflux. I felt extremely nauseated by the time I had to go for the test. Once I ate the oatmeal it surprisingly settled my stomach. I did fine during the test but It's a 2 hour test laying down with a scanner right up again the stomach. Reminded me of the hida scan. They left me alone. My bladder started bothering me half way in so I had to start hollering for someone to pause it so I could use the bathroom. Other then that I did fine. My test was negative. Since then I've found out that I'm no longer sugar intolerant but I have bile reflux gastritis and GERD. My gi doctor also suspects I could have SIBO so I'm being treated for that but still having gi issues.
I've had this test last year, and since then, I've gotten much worse, so I probably need a repeat Gastric Empthing Study. I have a feeding tube, and I'm on tube feeding, and have a ventilator that connects to a tracheostomy. I don't empty right. My stomach is a mess. I think I'd be better on TPN, but Mom and the Drs. don't want want me on TPN. When TPN is such a great nutrition strategy! I'm losing wait once AGAIN!!
Had this done May 16. Found out I have gastroparesis, only mild. But I have severe GI disturbances. Test wasn't bad at all. U can't taste the radioactive substance. It just takes a lot of time.
Nicole Moore Nearly everything I eat makes me nauseous. I'm extremely gasey. I'm bloated at all times. I feel full after eating a small amt of food. I have severe idiopathic constipation...only poop once a week, and only after I take a laxative. GP is a paralysis of the bottom of the stomach. And that's what it feels like. Like sumtin inside is not moving properly, like its frozen or like I have concrete moving thru my GI tract. Hope this helps.
im extreamly skinny even tho i eat all the time im bloated my bones have gotten bad. i dont throw up but get gurd sometimes. im seeing a gi tomorrow. idk if i have this or not.
Good video. This took some of my anxiety away. Waiting to be called in. I read somebody 's notes regarding the coft and they lost their voice. I am a professional singer, so I am worried about this.
Thank you, I was told it would be a 4 hour procedure. But I’m vomiting my acid so much, in so much pain, bleeding in my bowels, stabbing pain around my navel I need some relief fast Every time I eat, I have to go have a bowl movement
Had this test today and it wasn't bad at all, I was fearful that the eggs would taste different but they tasted normal :) I should get the results in 2 days to find out if I have gastroparesis.
I’m trying so hard to get out of this test, I’ve had some “mystery stomach illness” I had a barium swallow test no real result but suspected gastroparesis but, mild. since April 2021, it’s comes and go’s some months it spirals up ITHER times not, it’s mainly getting nauseous and cramps. I’ve been on meds for it to help my appetite and it works amazingly and I’m completely fine just being on it, no problems no nothing. I’m doing great but every time I see my dam gastro doctor she tells me oh this is wrong and that, she makes me cry every time and she couldn’t care but she says she does. She wanted me to get a endoscopy mind this I’m terrified of throwing up and never have during any of this, I’m also terrified of being sedated. It took my a month begging my mom to cancel it. She finally gave in but said I had to get this. I agreed, now I’m having people tell me on TikTok that it’s hell and it makes everyone feel horribly sick after and the thought of radioactive eggs?! I get sick to my stomach every time I eat eggs, and if I’m being honest. I may throw up from all of that, which would send me into a full panic attack. I’m getting the test in 7 days and I’ve been begging my mom and I need ANY HELP OR TIPS to get out of this I just want EVERYONE to understand though I may not be my best off of my 5 ml dose of stomach medicine. 💀 IM FINE
Super late, but I've seen multiple people claim they had little to no problems after and have gotten to do it with oatmeal or in liquid form depending on where you get it done. I would talk to your doctor to see if you can choose or just request liquid, as it also doesn't take as long as the solid test. As for the radiation, from my understanding they make sure it's a small enough dosage to not cause an insane amount of damage. Good luck with your health. 👋🏽 Edit: also heard people got toast or at the very least salt and pepper, if that helps! Congrats on your bravery just in case I'm too late for any of this info to matter! 👏🏽
