Was never a big fan of Tag 1. Always felt the tag system was pretty tame in comparison to DOA2's. Tag in TTT1 was more about lifebar management, switching out your character when low on health while DOA2 let you play your characters more like a team, with a far more flexible tag combo system and very stylish tag throws. The tag system is Tt2 was way better.
Sidestep 2 is an amazing launcher if you know when to use it.. I wonder why people don't use it.. I use it with Devil Jin and I use it at the right time for enormous damage
Because it's high risk low reward. Even in Tekken 7, you'll get launch punished on block or a half decent player will see it and hit you with a homing out of it. Plus side step into EWGF is just much better in every way.
@@Aminkaza yeah, but you lose all pressure potential and give your opponent the spacing advantage. Damage is all you really get out of it and DVJ can get good enough damage with combos, even better if you have good wall carry. @@JoJoZiddy I do use the electric.. But when I sidestep a move and my opponent whiffs, I press 2 right away and it always works.. It's not that slow if you delay the 2 and wait for the opponent to whiff

This sidestepmove isnt useless. First off all its more damage then twin pistols second the opponent is way much higher in the air so you can switch characters and do a great combo
To be fair, when does anyone use Devil Twister? Even in modern Tekken you’d sidestep EWGF with Devil Jin over Devil Twister in most cases. Requires more execution, sure, but it’s also more practical to master than to hope you can connect a Devil Twister.
anyone remember the twin pistons, then micro walk back, then twin pistons again? yea. that shit frame trap is the B&B of this character. good luck punishing that move.
Look at this game man beautiful man look at the map. The waterfall, the people walking around, the lights in the back the bgm everything man. Its just amazing man. Lee tux suit looked amazing and the Ogre stage and song amazing. Www.chattytube.com for anyone who wants to make a tekken thread.
It's horribly unbalanced for sure, but it was really fun, it was basically Tekken 3 on steroids, and since Tekken 3, unbalanced as it was, was still super fun to play/watch on a competitive level, you bet your ass Tekken Tag 1 would be even more.
Back in the day I played Bruce/Law then Switched to Bruce/Devil haha! I remember doing scruby shenanigans with devil's df+1,2 then d+1 for poke or df+1,2 back dash to df+1,2 to launch the opponent if they tried to hit back after the initial df+1,2.
Yeah, Bruce/Devil is one of the easiest and strongest team imo, bruce's ch launchers like df12( followed up with a 1 jab) and 321( if added the last 4) even launches fattys so effective against every team.
This devil kazuya with a full life bar .think about it: -a safe mid !13 frames launcher which is -6 on block. his twin pistons is like devil ewgf. his df2 is safe with so much + on hit, but in tekken he has jinpachi's best move.
I wish I could play with tag 1 kazuya and devil kazuya again in a newer title. This kazuya is how I remember him looking. Tekken 4 and on he looks like a different man
Devil's a classic example of the developers have some vision of the character being a risky, powerful, highly damaging playstyle ( to fit that he's the literal devil), only for the frame data on a couple moves to make him a reserved, basic, pretty lame character.
All do respect and I know you're giving your honest opinion but you're looking at this from a professional Tekken player. And I know that I'm giving my opinion as well but I feel like you're being a bit too harsh on this game. If you look at it from a casual perspective and from when the game was created, you'd see why people love the game. It's the first Tekken game that has all playable characters from all previous incarnations and had better graphics than all previous versions. The moves for each character weren't really intended for competive gameplay. Sure, some characters have their flaws but it is overall a pretty fun game. I understand that you not trying to trash the game and bring facts and logic to the table and I do respect your opinion and understand where you come from, but when you have a game where you can pick a bear, a panda, a kangaroo or velociraptor to fight a life size doll, a demon, an angel, robots and cyborgs, wrestlers, and random martial artists from all over the world; logic, balance and fairness kinda goes out the window, I'm just saying.
The reason why they probably have “ brain dead moves “ is because not everyone breaks down every move and frame rate and some people just play for fun?
Were there no players who comboed Devil Twister and Heaven's Door apart from me? I used to do the shit all the time as a kid, especially with Devil Jin in Dark Resurrection. Anyway, maybe the developers were aware that Devil/Angel was/were overpowered/broken/cheap/whatever, and tried to tone down some things. A prime example that sticks out in my mind is the Devil Fist, where they pass through the opponent if it connects. The most fascinating thing about that move is that you can't do combo enders/juggles with it... Well, technically, you can, but it's pointless, as it doesn't do any damage to mid-air opponents. It does this bizarre thing where it stops them dead during a juggle, they fall to the ground, but, again, like I said, zero damage. You're better off doing a classic Twin Pistons, Right Splits Kick combo.

I thought that after tekken 3 it follows tekken 5 because it was so bad
@@logand450 how is it clunky stupid tekken 4 hater?
In my opinion, this takken had a curtain appeal to it which showed an unforgot theme, characters(mostly to non-gammers), music, story (at the time, confusing) but memorable. Which made a person want to come back and play it. My first takken was takken 3 and I loved it, but takken tag 1 felt like a clean washed over takken 3. (The graphic was sooo nice at the time and still is)
So the six characters who were miles above the rest of the cast were the Mishimas (Kazuya, Heihachi, Jin and Devil), Ogre and True Ogre? I remember Julia and Michelle being really good in this game and could actually give the Mishimas a run for their money.
Lei was super good in this game too. Forced you to play patiently and did a metric tonne of damage.
there were more than 6 chars in ttt that were good he's trolling hard as fuck with this almost like he never played the game and just going off of what he heard
I remember i went to the arcades to play tekken 6 and i walked past the mvc2 cabinets and saw a lot of people playing tekken tag 1 and this guy was on a 112 win streak...his team was devil and jin
GREAT VID Main man! That what I was looking for #nostalgicsquad
oh, so its basically super smash bros melee with 6 characters in top tiers and the rest E tier.
@@JoJoZiddy I agree with high risk.. But low reward? You're trippin man.. I get 76 damage easily after I hit it.. And if I'm in rage, then good night
@@Aminkaza yeah, but you lose all pressure potential and give your opponent the spacing advantage. Damage is all you really get out of it and DVJ can get good enough damage with combos, even better if you have good wall carry. It's good enough if you read a 1 2 string for example and hit it for a round ender, but he gets more options off ss EWGF.
@@JoJoZiddy I do use the electric.. But when I sidestep a move and my opponent whiffs, I press 2 right away and it always works.. It's not that slow if you delay the 2 and wait for the opponent to whiff
@@Aminkaza you is that built in ss2 combo still there in tekken 7 that did 71 DMG on its own
The Tag games are better as casual games just to see what cool tag pairings you can have and see characters that almost have no chance of coming back.
Tekken Tag 1 = Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Tekken Tag 2 = Mortal Kombat Armageddon
if you twin piston me against my Bryan or Bruce id 100% punch parry your second hit. ah the good old days.
except when the 2nd hit is not coming and you get launched instead.
high risk low reward
Then you get chickened.
@@iheartdanna you cant chicken punch parries
@@Quran_eee not really when all devil players abuse d/f+1 and twin pistons. punch parries make them change the way they have to use them.
Upper cut upper cut right kick that's all you need
I remember playing this guy as a kid. Except I'd just spam the flying laser and win because my friends sucked at side-stepping.
Devil and Bruce was my team back in Tekken Tag. So much damage
i dont know why a limited number of characters being viable makes it bad, i mean street fighter 3rd strike chun li, yun, and ken are all just ludicrous with what those characters can do but its one of the most beloved fighting games ever. same with super smash bros melee only having about 5-7 characters that are very viable
Devil kazuya laser had the best sound effect i hate how simple devil jins is
Tekken tag is my favorite man. So good
Sidestep, 2 for a crazy MK-style uppercut, as they come down, up & 1+2 for up hellfire canon
Hearing you badmouth my favourite ps2 game broke my heart man
This sidestepmove isnt useless. First off all its more damage then twin pistols second the opponent is way much higher in the air so you can switch characters and do a great combo
Exactly. Main probably never saw Devil mains back then. Lots of players use that move to punish tag swaps.
Sidestep 2 is just a cool move. You can hit 2 upward lasers on their way down and swag on them for good damage.
I always connect it with Jin's u/f+4 and 1+4,2,ff+2
4:53 twin pistons spam
Hell sweep spam
Spam spam spam
To be fair, when does anyone use Devil Twister? Even in modern Tekken you’d sidestep EWGF with Devil Jin over Devil Twister in most cases. Requires more execution, sure, but it’s also more practical to master than to hope you can connect a Devil Twister.
So Tekken Tag 1 is basically Tekken MUGEN in terms of balance
Ah TT1, back when the Mishima's ewgf's hit mid and not high like today.
Jin's was always high though
tag ewgf for jin was SM
@@dionysysentertainer3261 that's the whole point of the video
Masood took the hell sweep part from here , hilarious
anyone remember the twin pistons, then micro walk back, then twin pistons again? yea. that shit frame trap is the B&B of this character. good luck punishing that move.
Thanks for these blast from the past videos so much because i never play these games :)
I'm happy to have mained Jin back then, THEN DJ
I wish Bandai Namco Release a Tekken 4K Collection on Steam, PS4, Switch, & Xbone.
Pls no
Look at this game man beautiful man look at the map. The waterfall, the people walking around, the lights in the back the bgm everything man. Its just amazing man. I remember being 14 when this came out at my friend who got it for christmas, i couldnt believe the graphics jump it was so surreal. Ill never forget it. Lee tux suit looked amazing and the Ogre stage and song amazing.
Www.chattytube.com for anyone who wants to make a tekken thread.
Tekken Tag was the first Tekken game for PS2.No wonder it looked so good at that time.
Ogre stage/music is one of my all-time favourites
Tekken Tag Tournament Is STRONG!
This is not devil kazuya, it's just devil
It's horribly unbalanced for sure, but it was really fun, it was basically Tekken 3 on steroids, and since Tekken 3, unbalanced as it was, was still super fun to play/watch on a competitive level, you bet your ass Tekken Tag 1 would be even more.
Looked very rad devil even back in the days
Back in the day I played Bruce/Law then Switched to Bruce/Devil haha! I remember doing scruby shenanigans with devil's df+1,2 then d+1 for poke or df+1,2 back dash to df+1,2 to launch the opponent if they tried to hit back after the initial df+1,2.
Bruce and the Mishimas make surprisingly good teams!! I started using him and DVJ on Tag 2.
Yeah, Bruce/Devil is one of the easiest and strongest team imo, bruce's ch launchers like df12( followed up with a 1 jab) and 321( if added the last 4) even launches fattys so effective against every team.
TTT is hailed as the greatest by Mishimababies who never grew out of having their characters be the strongest.
Us Mishima babies will never lose. Proud to be a Mishima tard
Idk it's my favourite tekken and jin is my favourite character but he ain't a mishima now anyways
This devil kazuya with a full life bar .think about it: -a safe mid !13 frames launcher which is -6 on block. his twin pistons is like devil ewgf. his df2 is safe with so much + on hit, but in tekken he has jinpachi's best move.
This game may have been a broken ass mess but that unconckable STL Badboy set was legendary. YOU BETTER TECH THAT SHIT
Twin Piston is good... until you run into True Ogre.
I wish I could play with tag 1 kazuya and devil kazuya again in a newer title. This kazuya is how I remember him looking. Tekken 4 and on he looks like a different man
This was first tekken. It took me a while to play tekken 7 because it didn’t have the tag function that a associated with the tekken dna.
Devil's a classic example of the developers have some vision of the character being a risky, powerful, highly damaging playstyle ( to fit that he's the literal devil), only for the frame data on a couple moves to make him a reserved, basic, pretty lame character.
If the only bad thing you can say about Tag1 is that it’s unbalanced then it’s better than Tekken 7.
TTT1 seems to have a lot in common with Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
Please do tekken 1,2,3 as well!!!!!
TEKKEN TAG 1 IS MY FAVOURITE TEKKEN GAME
Devil and Kazuya tag was pretty unique
YES THANK YOU! A TTT1 video. Really rare to find videos on Tag 1.
put widescreen and texture filtering en tekken321... But how much does it cost you to look like this this clean?
why do you put such a dirty image of old ps1 tekkens?
is eay
in epsxe enter in opengl2.9 and actibate texture filtering option and put extended remobes black borders ...
was that a mid electric? dont wanna mention that?
Only Kaz and Devil have the s.mid godfist.
heihachi did as well.
only heihachi and jin had actual electrics.
