im still not a fan of the writing on this show but man… that was some of the best lightsaber action we’ve ever gotten so props to that entire team and the incredible work the actors did as well, im sure there were some stunt doubles involved but you could not tell at all, they did an amazing job selling it and the director did a really good job using the action as a tool to move the narrative forward again, with better writing and more time with these characters this could’ve hit a lot harder but still, im glad i got to see that, it was dope! its okay to be critical, i certainly am, but its also important to give credit where its due
I personally think most of the writing in this show is fine, but I do agree that the show could have benefited with a lot more time. If they'd added 4 more episodes to flesh things out more then I think this could easily be my second favorite Disney + show
If you're talking about the dialogue, have you never seen anything Star Wars before this? Star Wars has always been about moving the narrative forward and terrible dialogue.
@@jinxie712 problem is that this narrative never gets moved forward, multiple meaningless times characters have the exact same conversation with each other. One thing that was cool to notice is that jecki had it under control at least before when she was first fighting qmir but when she let the anger control her and consume her repeatedly bashing is when she got beat easily
The material of Qimir's helmet and bracelet is Cortosis, I think we never have seen it except from comics. Basically it absorbs many kinds of energy, if you look closer specially in the cold opening fight, you can see the lightsabers energy dissipating through the helmet and the bracelet
Thanks to Adam, Hector and Agustin! 🌑 It's great to see the energy absorption metal *cortosis* brought into live-action. 🔸 Did you notice a bit of the 'Kylo Ren' theme played as 'Qimir' knelt and covered 'Osha' with his cloak, near the end?
He does know its Osha, he tried killing Mae repeatedly. And she has a tattoo on her arm Maes is on her head. Qimir told Mae she could learn something from Jecki on how to be a good pupil. Qimir is gonna train Osha. I think the witches did something to fuck with the Jedi's head. Remember her mom could do that. What if they controlled the Jedi, and sacrificed themselves, by making the Jedi kill them to give Mae there power, becasuse Mae told them the Jedi started the fire. Just a theory.
I would argue that the Jedi WEREN'T at the height of their powers during the prequels, due to Palpatine deliberately using the dark side to cloud their vision. In episode II, Mace consults with Yoda over whether they should inform the senate that their "ability to use the Force has diminished."
Yea, the helmet and bracelet is made from cortosis weave, a mineral capable of temporarily shut down lightsabers. In the lore it was first used in 4000 bby I think.

Glad to see all three here for my favorite episode of the show so far. Seriously great saber fights in this one and definitely amongst one of my favorite saber battles next to the Ahsoka duels. Also the gauntlet and helmet is made of cortosis which is a metal that absorbs energy and can disable lightsabers temporarily.
Ah, but you forget Osha was once Sol's Padawan and Master and Student have a bond and Sol would be able to sense that lack of bond between him and his former Padawan knowing that Osha isn't who she says she is.
The helmet and gauntlet has Cortosis in it. It can deflect and disrupt the energy of a lightsaber. It was first in the Legends novel “I, Jedi’” but has popped up here and there. It’s in one of the post Disney canon novels, but can’t remember which one
Such a great episode!! I can't wait to figure out Qimir's backstory. And I'm also wondering if Mae noticed the tattoo on Osha's arm. I think Qimir knew the difference, that's why he didn't kill her at the end. He may try to turn Osha into his Acolyte next.
he helmet and bracer are made of cortosis. It's a brittle metal but is capable of shorting out lightsabers. Was used in starship hulls in legends. Darth bane actually worked in a cortosis mine before joining the sith brotherhood
Christopher Clark Cowan, the action designer (and often the camera operator) for this series also did Shang Chi, Wonder Woman, the Witcher, Solo, and the Kingsman sequels. He's a genius with the camera; his style pulls a lot from Anime. He got started on RUclips, too! Some of the best fighting shorts I've ever seen.
Something to remember about Sol is that in the records of Osha`s incident 16 years ago, they hide that she had a twin sister, Jecky said that, so it wouldn't be crazy for Sol to not say the complete story when/if he gets back, a really good episode, it leaves too many open windows.. mothers, side turns, secrets, even a final quick cameo of Qymir Master.. i have faith that everything will lead to something cool at the end.... keep rocking and stay safe!
it certainly SEEMED like Qimir was the big bad looking for his Acolyte, but there's plenty of room for another shadowy figure pulling the strings like maybe the Zabrak Mother Koril!
Love love love your genuine reaction and approach to discussing reviewing and speculating about The Acolyte! There are some RUclipsrs who consider this approach the “everything is awesome” kind of channel; y’all just enjoying Star Wars. Thank you!

Now that was a great episode! I need this type of energy for the rest of the season because this was the best episode yet. The action continues to be the best part if this show. I'm glad they revealed the Sith guy the way they did now rather than later because if they waited for the end of the season I don't think I'd be as a warm to it, mainly because it was kind of obvious. So many characters deaths episode that kept shocking me because honestly I wasn't expecting so much of our main cast to bite the dust like that but in the end I'm glad they made this decision because it may be entire episode feel way more intense and suspenseful and like every action actually had consequences which is a problem a lot of shows struggle with. 9/10 episode this week. Hopefully, they can ride this really strong momentum all the way to the finale of this season.
Hard agree. From reading a lot of legends growing up I always had the impression a single sith was an absolute force (heh) of devastation, rage and brutality. This episode gave us that in spades.
He's likely wearing cortosis bracers and helmet - from Legends, a metal more brittle than beskar but has the ability to short out sabres and mess with blaster bolts and stuff. But yeah, doesn't take physical hits very well, hence the elbow shots taking it out.
The whole claim that it violates Canon to have Siths in this show has no merits. The whole point in the Prequels was that the Jedi were blind and arrogant even when presented with actual evidence of Maul existing. None of the Jedi sensed Palpatine - with all of their vision powers. In a huge universe, of course that dark force users always existed. It’s obvious. What is Canon is that the Jedi were blind, not that there were no Siths at all, which is impossible. Here, they brought Kiadi Mundi to show that he’s consistently dumb.
This was the most exciting episode for sure. There are two big issues that remain for me: 1. Mae and Osha are the main characters, but they're also the worst and least interesting characters in the show. I'd trade both of them multiple times over to get either Jecki or Yord back. 2. The logic of the plot doesn't make sense. Qimir literally said everyone had to die, but then went out of his way to save multiple people. Osha stopped Sol from killing an evil "Sith" lord...but for what reason? Mae is clearly 100% wrong and there's no reason for us to believe her in any way, unless we were shown a false version of events...but the show didn't set it up that way, so it's just frustrating.
Love your reaction to this awesome episode! Lets bet the guilt Sol feels is of a similar sort like we saw Yoda, Obi-Wan and Luke experience- not having been able to prevent something bad from happening or having done something that set of bad things in motion.
Such an absolute banger of an ep. Cortosis weave! Also, the writers of this show are not at all getting enough credit for how they’re weaponizing the audience’s bias towards tropes against us. Just a really, really good show so far. Can’t wait for next week!
I'm pretty sure Osha is going to kill Sol and he's the only lose end. Sol probably mind wiped Osha after they destoyed the witch coven. The Jedi didn't believe Qui-Gon about the Sith, they definitely aren't going to believe two Jedi killing witch sisters.
If Sol mind wiped Osha about that night and Qimir unlocks her memory, I could see the resulting situation, depending on if the Jedi were at fault at the coven, leaving Osha feeling betrayed and more likely to fall to the Dark Side and making that switch.
My mad theory is that maybe Sol was a sith and he was the master of Qimir. That can explain why he refers always to Mae as an acolyte and not an apprentice
One thing too about how Qimir would know that it was Osha: The Tattoo. Mae doesn't have it. Also a good opportunity for Sol to find out his Osha is really Mae.
One thing that didn't make sense to me was Mae said she was going to turn herself in to the Jedi last episode, yet actively resisted and even attacked the Jedi this episode
I'm guessing we'll get another flashback, like Hector was saying, of that night, maybe with Kelnaca and Torbyn, and I'm curious if Vernestra will come into the picture in a more significant way in the last two, three episodes.
There may not be any survivors, but surely the Jedi would sense when other Jedi are being slaughtered. Yoda sensed in ROTS when the Jedi were being killed, and Obi-Wan Kenobi sensed when Alderaan got wiped out. A squad of Jedi got wiped out by someone with a lightsaber, so even if no one survives to tell about it, the evidence is still there. The Jedi can draw their own conclusions from that.
This episode felt a bit like a slasher movie. His costume was pretty 'scary', looked like damn Jason slaughtering teens in the forest. Loved it. Also I dunno, but Qimir's lines were so... natural. And sarcastic. "Why risk discovery?" "I wore a mask..." I dunno, gave me the feeling of Scream's ending sequence or something.
Those Jedi definitely did something shady on Brendok, Mae's true motives haven't been revealed yet but I doubt that was the last we saw of the witches, especially Mother Koril. They went out their way to make her the harsher of the two parents but she's also fiercly protective of her children. I would not be surprised if she's somehow behind this whole thing.
The tattoo will give Mae away. Unless she’s smart enough to note it on her sisters arm and get a copy of it. Because they made a point of Sol noticing the tattoo earlier in the season.
metal with Cortosis a ancient material or rare that can withstand the blow of a lightsaber and briefly short out its lightsaber or allow even the energy of a blaster bolt to be dissipated upon contact .
Ki-Adi-Mundi's statement is one of belief, not fact, based on the Jedi's arrogance. When he made it there were at least two Sith right under the Jedis' noses.
His gauntlets and helmet are made of a metal called Cortosis, its known to suppress energy weapons, including lightsabers for a brief moment. Also let's not forget in the last episode Mae said she was gonna turn herself in and her loyalty was to her sister, in this episode she totally throws that out the window, more plot holes... Also let's not forget, Mae is the one who said she would kill Osha, and tried to, to prevent her from leaving their family and becoming a Jedi... she did this to herself lol Yoda didn't sense shit, bc the Jedi Temple is literally built on top of an Ancient Sith Temple which also happens to be a Force Nexus that prevented them from foreseeing these kinds of things. Also Palpatine was the literal Master of using the Force cloak to disguise his true self. He stopped using it after his fight with Mace Windu, the force lightning didn't make his face that way, its how he always looked, the dark side drains your life.
The flip flop wouldnt surprise me; Mae is the rule follower, and Osha is the one who always wanted freedom to forge her own path.. a sentiment echoed by Qimir regarding the force earlier in the episode.
Cool little detail: Qimir proved this episode that killing a Jedi without a weapon is entirely possible. He murdered Yord with his bare hands and then just tossed the body like it was nothing

The choreography was breaking its SPINE carrying the show, it was crazyy
im still not a fan of the writing on this show but man… that was some of the best lightsaber action we’ve ever gotten so props to that entire team and the incredible work the actors did as well, im sure there were some stunt doubles involved but you could not tell at all, they did an amazing job selling it and the director did a really good job using the action as a tool to move the narrative forward
again, with better writing and more time with these characters this could’ve hit a lot harder but still, im glad i got to see that, it was dope! its okay to be critical, i certainly am, but its also important to give credit where its due
Couldn't have said it better myself!
yeah but they killed my jecki :/
I personally think most of the writing in this show is fine, but I do agree that the show could have benefited with a lot more time. If they'd added 4 more episodes to flesh things out more then I think this could easily be my second favorite Disney + show
If you're talking about the dialogue, have you never seen anything Star Wars before this? Star Wars has always been about moving the narrative forward and terrible dialogue.
@@jinxie712 problem is that this narrative never gets moved forward, multiple meaningless times characters have the exact same conversation with each other. And the characters in past installments are actually likable, and you can remember their names…but like the original guy said, I thought the action was good. But unfortunately everything else is total meh to terrible, which ultimately brings everything down. And it’s a shame because the choreography for the hand-to-hand combat and dual scenes is pretty good.
This is the first time I've started a Star Wars tv show episode with nervous excitement!
That was true High Republic style writing in that episode. High Republic content has never been afraid of killing off main/favorable characters.
The Walking Dead approach lol
Looking at the directors will tell you how the next 3 episodes will go. There were 4 directors, each doing a pair of episodes. Day and Night were both by Alex Garcia Lopez for example. Of the last 3 episodes, 2 are directed by Hanelle Culpepper and 1 is directed by Kogonada who directed episode 3. I won’t spoil which ones in case people see it as a spoiler, you can IMDB it, but I think it’s safe to assume the remaining Kogonada episode is about what really happened 16 years ago
"Sol should know""Yoda couldn't" THANK YOU! Why does everyone think the Force works like x-ray glasses?
He does know its Osha, he tried killing Mae repeatedly. And she has a tattoo on her arm Maes is on her head. Qimir told Mae she could learn something from Jecki on how to be a good pupil. Qimir is gonna train Osha. I think the witches did something to fuck with the Jedi's head. Remember her mom could do that. What if they controlled the Jedi, and sacrificed themselves, by making the Jedi kill them to give Mae there power, becasuse Mae told them the Jedi started the fire. Just a theory.
As a fellow Filipino, just politely letting you know Manny Jacinto's last is pronounced like jalapeno 😊
Hell yeah haha! Sobrang badass ni Manny Jacinto lol. Lakas ng sigaw ko ng putangina hahaha!
I would argue that the Jedi WEREN'T at the height of their powers during the prequels, due to Palpatine deliberately using the dark side to cloud their vision. In episode II, Mace consults with Yoda over whether they should inform the senate that their "ability to use the Force has diminished."
This is the EP that Pushed the show from a 5 to a 7. If the Next 2 ep keep up the momentum, this season could end as a 8!
I think both Sol knew right away that wasn’t Osha. This is going to be an interesting game of cat and mouse to end the season.
Yea, the helmet and bracelet is made from cortosis weave, a mineral capable of temporarily shut down lightsabers. In the lore it was first used in 4000 bby I think.
Yord going back to help and stop being a rule following good soldier is what ends up getting him killed.
It’s my first time delving into #STARWARS and I love the Acolyte 😊❤You’re the best at positivity …amongst TOXIC FANDOM 😢 THANK YOU 🎉My mom said “You catch more flies with HONEY rather than vinegar”😂You caught (I’m not a prize)🏆 me 🎉😂 I have subscribed toooo positive vibes ❤😂🎉😊
Will have to watch this later. Love your reactions and know you're going to be hype about this one.
The only way Osha joins Quimir is if Quimir tells her the Jedi's role in the annihilation of her family.
Ah, but you forget Osha was once Sol's Padawan and Master and Student have a bond and Sol would be able to sense that lack of bond between him and his former Padawan knowing that Osha isn't who she says she is.
To be fair to the situation though, he is quite distressed at that point and might not exactly have his head in the game.
@@Arcaneblush Exactly.
@@dmajorx when has he been inaccurate with the Force?
Lesley Headland has talked multiple times about wanting a season 2.
The direction this series can take, expanding the universe. Let's go!!
I'd love an expansion to this time period, but because of the insane negative audience reaction online, I don't think Disney will want to do an S2
The helmet and bracer are made of a material called cortosis. The metal temporarily discharges the lightsaber's energy.
he helmet and bracer are made of cortosis.
No one we have seen cause the line Darth Palguies has to be least the Padwan and We doby Asian Ezra is a Padwan. He is just another Pawn
He doesn't claim to be Sith, he said the Jedi would assume he is Sith. Either way the secret is safe once Osha kills Sol.
@jiffypoo5029 if ,koril is qimirs master then neither would be sith. . atleast not main lineage sith
Love love love your genuine reaction and approach to discussing reviewing and speculating about The Acolyte! There are some RUclipsrs who consider this approach the “everything is awesome” kind of channel; y’all just enjoying Star Wars. Thank you!
He wants to train Ocea, thats why he forced pushed her out of the way in the beginning.
When I tell you that I’ve been waiting on this reaction…my jaw was on the floor for all 43 minutes of episode 5 and I know these gents loved this episode. Star Wars is freaking DOPE!
43 minutes?!?! Did you watch it? It’s like 28!!!
@@atari1994 it was 34. 43 was a typo. But the sentiment remains.
@@faillingUppwards it was 28… don’t count the credits or the “previously on”
@@atari1994 this feels exceptionally pedantic for no reason. Thanks though.
@@faillingUppwards just ignore nitpickers
I think he does know because when she was trying to be Mae in episode 2 or 3, he knew it was Osha when they came face to face.
@HeroesReforged Another channel said it's possibly Cortosis that his gauntlet and helmet are made out of and shorting out the lightsabers temporarily.
There are two big issues that remain for me:
Spocko has a history of keeping relatives a secret. Uh, Sybok.
Exactly!
Sad day for the Yord Hoard 😢
The amount of blue balls the show is giving you guys is hilarious 🤣
Theory, Qimir is the Acolyte that is trying to become a master. One cannot become a master without an apprentice.
Love your reaction to this awesome episode!
Lets bet the guilt Sol feels is of a similar sort like we saw Yoda, Obi-Wan and Luke experience- not having been able to prevent something bad from happening or having done something that set of bad things in motion.
Great reaction, calm and cool. I think this episod was amazing, there is more under the surface. Can´t wait for the next one, love from Sweden.
It's cool to see an idea from Visions season 1 pop up in live-action: the red lightsaber inside another lightsaber was in the episode called The Duel.
Such an absolute banger of an ep. Cortosis weave! Also, the writers of this show are not at all getting enough credit for how they’re weaponizing the audience’s bias towards tropes against us. Just a really, really good show so far. Can’t wait for next week!
The Parent Trap maneuver feels mighty phony.
I'm pretty sure Osha is going to kill Sol and he's the only lose end. Sol probably mind wiped Osha after they destoyed the witch coven. The Jedi didn't believe Qui-Gon about the Sith, they definitely aren't going to believe two Jedi killing witch sisters.
remember Yoda said hard to see the Dark Side is. But I think Yoda had to deal with lots Mace Windu s who stuck to the rule book
hearing kylo’s theme play makes me think this is origin’s for knights of ren
Loved the fight choreography in this. Great villain and true stakes with likable characters dying.
The one time he breaks the rules.....
I think Qimir knows it's Osha. She doesn't have the long hair, she has the wound in the side and has that tattoo on her arm that Mae doesn't.
Narrative thought - maybe Osha can have her force powers unlocked through dark side training, when Jedi training failed.
Those jedi got Sith-kebab'd
One thing too about how Qimir would know that it was Osha: The Tattoo. Mae doesn't have it. Also a good opportunity for Sol to find out his Osha is really Mae.
One thing that didn't make sense to me was Mae said she was going to turn herself in to the Jedi last episode, yet actively resisted and even attacked the Jedi this episode
she was fighting only to escape. . she was running in fear of her former master. .
I'm guessing we'll get another flashback, like Hector was saying, of that night, maybe with Kelnaca and Torbyn, and I'm curious if Vernestra will come into the picture in a more significant way in the last two, three episodes.
Yoda couldn’t sense Palpatine because the Sith cloud the Jedi’s minds.
Surprised I haven't seen anyone mention them playing Kylo Ren's theme at the very end there when Qymir was talking to an unconscious Osha.
Wave Squadron (Blind Wave) were the only reactors I’ve seen who noticed it and talked about it.
The Jedi can draw their own conclusions from that.
just reacted!!! bro best duel since sith!
This episode felt a bit like a slasher movie. His costume was pretty 'scary', looked like damn Jason slaughtering teens in the forest. Loved it.
Also I dunno, but Qimir's lines were so... natural. And sarcastic.
"Why risk discovery?"
"I wore a mask..."
I dunno, gave me the feeling of Scream's ending sequence or something.
Yord, the "ethernal lamp guy" 😂😂😂😂
Also let's not forget, Mae is the one who said she would kill Osha, and tried to, to prevent her from leaving their family and becoming a Jedi... she did this to herself lol
Yoda didn't sense shit, bc the Jedi Temple is literally built on top of an Ancient Sith Temple which also happens to be a Force Nexus that prevented them from foreseeing these kinds of things. Also Palpatine was the literal Master of using the Force cloak to disguise his true self. He stopped using it after his fight with Mace Windu, the force lightning didn't make his face that way, its how he always looked, the dark side drains your life.
Mae can't hide her forehead tattoo
Last dialogue, Kyle ren’s theme plays… first knight of Ren confirmed ?
The flip flop wouldnt surprise me; Mae is the rule follower, and Osha is the one who always wanted freedom to forge her own path.. a sentiment echoed by Qimir regarding the force earlier in the episode.
