Hi, I just bought my first ubass uke at 72 yrs of age . I've been watching your tutorials and have learned so much. You are a fantastic teacher. I've been playing uke for about 3 yrs. I saw your tutorial on the flight pathfinder solid body. I've had one on order for over 6 months and it's supposed to arrive in November. Thank you for taking the time to do all the tutorials. A grateful student in Ontario 🇨🇦
Thank You Heather for your lovely post, it made me smile all the way through. Hopefully your Flight uke will arrive soon, they have just had the first late shipment here in Europe. Wonderful about your ubass introduction too, please feel free to ask any questions.
Thank you for the bass lessons and thank you for making them easy and enjoyable !!!

You're very welcome! Thaks for such a lovely comment. :-)
Looking forward to lesson 5 and more.
More videos for bass and uke coming very soon. Almost the end of the school year!
Always lots of useful information in your videos. I like the chord drills and have created a playlist of them in different keys to practise. The children in your ukulele class(es) are very lucky!
Thank You Trevor, absolutely loved reading your comment. So glad to be helping and appreciated your support.
You made this so easy to understand.. it’s like a lightbulb went off.
Great to hear Linda, it is always lovely to hear it's helping you.
I just got an bass-ukulele at Christmas. It really makes fun to listen to Your lessons.
Great didactic. Thanks.
Awesome! Thank you and so glad you have joined the bass uke community. If you haven't already, check out the U-Bass Freaks group on Facebook, lots of useful stuff.
You are absolutely amazing! 💜🧡💜 When I saw that this was a longer lesson (33:05) and thought hmmm... but I decided to watch and learn anyways. I loved how you used the piano to explain that flats are on the left (lower) and sharps are on the right (higher). It helped me to visualize and translate it to the ubass. I love your playful teaching style... 33:05 came and went in a blink of an eye... you have the magic teaching touch! 🌟😁🌟
Thanks for your Karen, I'm glad you enjoyed and learnt from it. I know I do tend to ramble but I think it's just years of teaching, you just................ you know.
Hello there. Your lessons are brilliant! I bought an ubass a couple of years ago. i have learnt to use it looking at bass players. I will look at your lessons now. I am Swedish and you are so easy to understand 😃👍. Best wishes Ingrid.
Great to hear, Thank You Ingrid. Best wishes to Sweden, I visited Malmø many years ago.
Hi I have followed your e bass lessons , great stuff, my question is, having learnt to keep my fingers clawed to play ukulele I find it difficult to flatten my fingers for bass? Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong.
Many thanks
Ron
Ps I'm in the vintage age group.
I have been playing (Tenor and Baritone) in a small local Ukulele group for a couple of years. I bought a Bass last week because I discovered they exist!
Imagine my joy at finding this RUclips channel to help me learn how to play it!
I hope to surprize the group (in a good way) in two days when I turn up with my bass and hopefully play along thanks to your guidance.
PS, it's loovely to hear a different accent on RUclips, very refreshing.
That would be so cool to suprise the group, hope it went well. Thanks for the lovely comment.
Merci pour vos cours, avec vos explications très claires, au bout de 3 leçons, même si je maîtrise mal votre langue, je commence à me faire vraiment plaisir.
Encore merci pour ce partage.
Thank You Dany, I am very glad they are helping. If there is something you don't understand please ask, I can always use the translator. Merci
Merci Dany, je suis très heureux qu'ils aident. S'il y a quelque chose que vous ne comprenez pas, veuillez demander, je peux toujours utiliser le traducteur. Merci

Merci et bonne musique
Definitely gonna be revisiting this lesson a few times 🥴
Glad you are enjoying them Nigel. sorry it's been a hectic week so just catching up on RUclips today.
Welcome back! Re patterns: I've stuck little 8mm coloured stickers on the frets of my fantastic Donner bass - red for C, green for F, blue for G, yellow for A and purple for D (didn't have enough colours in the sticker pack for B and E). I've found it really helps seeing the pattern of notes on the featureless ladder of the fretboard. It's much easier on a piano since you can see the pattern of white and black notes. I've done the same to my regular ukes (note ukes in the plural!). It's made playing bass and ordinary lead bits *so* much easier - navigating the fretboard is a breeze and I've made much more progress in improvisations when playing along to your fab ukulaliens tunes. I know stickers might be considered babyish or cheating in some way, but what the heck, life's too short! Brilliant lesson as always, thanks very much 👏👏👏😷🪕🎶🎶🎶PS done the same on my guitars (which I've been playing for donkeys years) and again playing lead improvs so much easier, its like being able to see after being blind. Haven't put them on my piano though! Rob.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Yep, if stickers help I fully encourage them as a starting place. I used them for years and years teaching cello and double bass and still use them with the students in school on their ukes. And as always, Thank You for all your support, much appreciated.
Thank you so much for your amazing teaching skills
My 14 year old grand son picked up the bass guitar for the first time in his life a few days ago and in 8 hours is playing bass accompaniment to my acoustic guitar. His dad just heard him play and is soo very impressed. I think he’s a natural.
Loved reading this Bev, fantastic to hear your grandson is doing so well and I hope you both enjoying jamming together. :-)
I can look at tab and transpose it to notation
❤💫
Keep up the good work!! 🤩
Rachel, great reminder, “Don’t beat yourself up.”:
It all takes time, something I'm constantly reminding myself as well as all the kids in school.
Another fantastic lesson. Thanks so much for posting it! I already play both the standard and baritone ukulele. With all 3 having the notes in different places on the fretboard, not mixing them up is proving to be a real challenge. Any tips?
I agree, it can get confusing swapping between instruments. I think it is just something that develops over time, or maybe try a little warm up on a different each time you swap, something you are really comfortable play.
Really enjoying these lessons, along with the play alongs. I recently purchased an Ohana bass ukulele and lovin' it! Makes my brain relax and forget about pain as an added bonus. Thank you for making things so understandable and (kinda) easy.
My absolute pleasure, it does make a difference when I know they are really helping. Thanks.
Can you tell me a link to the uke channel you said had good play alongs please? You're a very good teacher by the way!
Hi Wendy, here you go.
www.youtube.com/@Ukulaliens
Shwmae! from the US.....just started U-bass last week and have been following your wonderful lessons. I'm jumping a head a bit but I'm a little nervous about how I will know when the chord changes without seeing it on the screen. Like if I were playing with a group. Any thoughts for newbies who might have the same worry. Thank you so much...:)
Welcome aboard! Generally I am assuming you would have a chord sheet to follow if you were playing with a group and so you would follow the lyrics and chord changes. Hope that explains it but if you still have worries, let me know. 👍
I just don't have the practus in the presuit of it
have ya ever had bass players take this course?
Possibly but these are all quite new, but yes, it is the same to to play bass uke / bass guitar / double bass.
Hello ..is here a lesson please I can’t seem to find it
Hi Denise there are 5 lessons in this series if that helps. Hopefully you have found the last one now. 👍
Hello Rachel.. do you play Baritone uke?
Hi jo, no baritone for me sorry. I know the chord shapes are similar but not something I’ve needed to get my head around. 👍
damn I am here
how do we get Ukaliens shirts?
Hi, Thanks for the interest. There are various designs in my RedBubble shop here:

Thank you! I love your content. Thanks for making this channel
@@UkuleleWales I got my shirts yesterday and I couldn't be happier. Thanks again for all your help.
if not I'm here lol
WHAT PLAY ALONGS ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT
Hi Louis, I have another RUclips channel which is just play alongs. They are meant for ukulele but you can follow along with the chords on the bass too. Here you go.

what really sucks is i understand the music therory
Sometimes it is nice to not worry about the theory. I will be doing more theory / notation lessons in the future.
