My gosh he reviewed Air Combat before it was called Ace Combat. lol I just had a tear and a smile while watching this. I remember playing it.. then magically I missed 2 and 3 and found myself playing 4 many years later. hehe
Lol, this was one of the coolest moments when I sent Mark this game. Talk about lucky, because his channel changed shortly after this. And i think he auctioned off alot of this stuff to focus on other endeavors. But, I have a lot of respect for this guy.And thank you for taking the time to review this game after sending it in!
Am i the only one that loved the ending to this game? I'll always remember how in the credits everyone had "callsigns" like fighter pilots. The music in this game was great.
i got my ps1 from a cousin when he bought a ps3, I was in kindergarten so I didn't know which console was better, and he gave me resident evil 2 and air combat. watching this is nostalgic as shit
I love these early PS1 games. 1995 was an interesting year in gaming, since everything but the N64 was out. It was interesting to see what the developers did with the sudden increase in power available to them. Just like with the jump from 8 bit to 16 bit a few years earlier, there were hits and misses. This looks like a lot of fun.
If i remember...this game had a 1 v 1 mode...used to play my cousin all the time. Took me a while to remember the name of it but damn those paint jobs are etched in my memory😄😄😄
Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere was amazing on the PS1, much better graphics than this, great audio, and improved mechanics. But the 1999 AC3 Japanese game was butchered for the European and North American releases of 2000. The Japanese version of the game is very story-driven, featuring 52 missions, branching stories from the player's choices, multiple endings, and excellent anime-style cutscenes to tell the stories. The North American and European versions have only 36 missions in a linear storyline and no cartoon cutscenes. What Namco can do to make amends is port this to the Vita and PS3 with HD graphics, English dubbing (or at least English subtitles), and polish up the controls for the Vita handheld. But what the Vita really needs are the excellent PS2 AC games ported! Or at least port Ace Combat 4 and let Mobius 1 and Yellow 13 fly again on the Vita.
eins2001 Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere was a PS1 game, although the PS1 games also played on the venerable PS2. Ace Combat 04 was the seminal installment of the Ace Combat series to the PS2 from Project Aces in 2001.
i AGREE WITH YOU ASSAULT HORIZON SUCKS A LOT BUT ONE THING THAT IS KEPT CONSTANT IS IN EVERY ACE COMBAT GAME EXCEPT ASSAULT THERE WILL BE MISSION WHERE YOU WILL NEED TO FLY THORUGH NARROW PATHWAY
I actually played this after AC4. And that subsequently made me a fan of the series when I still played PS2. Only ones missing I haven't is the GBA one , AC3 , that IPhone one and Infinity.
Oh, Lord Karnage, plz do a review for one of the best early ps1 games (if not the best space combat games) COLONY WARS!!! The first one was the best one in my opinion. If can't get a copy I'll send you mine--but can I have it back?
Mark definitely play Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere! It is a really good game. It had this cool 90's imagined near future style, great music and awesome game play!
I fuckin love the Ace Combat series, (just started Ace Combat Infinity) and yea, I'm surprised how good this is to be made in 1995. Namco was clearly on to something at the start.
I think that's the first time I've ever heard Mark talk shit about a game. It really goes to show you how bad Assault Horizon is. Assault Horizon is a fucking terrible game and a disgrace to Ace Combat. As for AC1 it's a good game. Coming from having played most of the other ones it's very restrictive and I eventually just tried to brute force my way through it. But the gameplay is fine, the music is awesome and the radio chatter is hilarious, so there's still some enjoyment to be had. And the briefing narration is of amazingly high quality too, considering it was made in the 90's were VA usually wasn't very good. Also that tunnel cost me a lot of planes... ;_;
Ken Chen Haha I heard. I watch the video as well and his comments are valid. They really botched the story in assault horizon into this generic modern drama invovling the russians. But I played the beta to this ace combat zero or something the new one which focuses on online play and it is pretty good, with assault horizon's graphics but without the pursuit baby mode.
jacksprat1990 I agree. It's a departure from the near simulation controls and style of the previous entries but "a terrible game" it is not by a long shot. Jeezus! Every time a company actually ups the ante and gives us a new spin "generic gamers" just down it and ask for the same old shit. This is why we can't have nice things.
Did you know, games that run at 60fps on the PS1, being played on the PS3, show interlacing during movement. Test it with Bloody Roar 1 or 2 if you want to. I think DOA is the same, and Tombal No.1
Ah a blast from the past, still an awesome game and yes way better then Assault Horizon! But yes you must play Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere Japanese version , the only true version of the game :D
Great memories! Loved the Air/Ace series alternate world flight combat. Sorry that Namco rebooted with that lousy recent game! Maybe they'll go back to the alternate world series on the new platforms! Also I thought Ace Combat:Zero was the best in the series (that one never gets any love from fans), great story, cuts scene w/ live actors placed in CGI background, excellent gameplay. Give AC: Zero a shoutout, man!
I think it a little unfair that people are quick to bash Assault horizon for trying something new and yet they forgive AC6 which for me was a god awful pile of trash. I've played the Ace combat series for years and AC6 is the only one i've ever sold in disgust. Though i have to say i love everything about Air combat it's one of the only PS1 games that i still play. To me this and Ace combat zero will always be the best, though AC5 will always hold a special place in my heart.
Ahhh.. jason fearn." I couldn't get past the 2nd or 3rd level, this game blew". Yeah, it must suck because you weren't any good at it. Stick to refueling planes on the ground or running forward with a rifle. The problem lies between the user and the controller, not the game. Being a fighter pilot isn't for everyone. The Ace Combat Series is one of the most consistently enjoyable series ever created.
My gosh he reviewed Air Combat before it was called Ace Combat. lol
I just had a tear and a smile while watching this. I remember playing it.. then magically I missed 2 and 3 and found myself playing 4 many years later. hehe

I miss this channel, it used to be so cool
@@Matt_STS Definitely feel you on this. I was happy to have been able to send this game for Mark to review before closing up shop , essentially.
Am i the only one that loved the ending to this game? I'll always remember how in the credits everyone had "callsigns" like fighter pilots. The music in this game was great.
ohh man, my first PS1 game!
Cool, mine to, even though i got my PS1 close to the release of the PS2.
MrAtariable Same here. Sweet memories :)
ttwiitch twitch It was my first game too, after playing through the PS1 Demo disc (black color) lol
Habeel13 lol memoriesss
i got my ps1 from a cousin when he bought a ps3, I was in kindergarten so I didn't know which console was better, and he gave me resident evil 2 and air combat. watching this is nostalgic as shit
The soundtrack rocks, you can find it right here on the tubes.
Had this back in the day. Remember I could not get past the canyon level, the one where you have to navigate in the tight space
I loved Namco's mid-90s arcade games
I sure love that sick burn to Assault Horizon. Man, fuck that game.
You sould try the Ace Combat 3 :)
I reccomend the Japanese version, it have non-linear storyline compared to the US version.
YF23 was such a sick jet, used to rip it up on the missions.
God I miss this show

One of the many games that made me forget all about Nintendo/Sega and fall madly in love with the Playstation.
I bought the original long-box version of this game "mint" condition for $2.50 at The Exchange.
Omg the feels for that intro
6 years later, I pick this game up at a yard sale for $4. The early ps1 games that only use the d-pad have some kind of charm to them
Was this game on the ps1 demo disc? I never owned this game but I do remember playing it.
Cool, we need more PS1 reviews. :)
If i remember...this game had a 1 v 1 mode...used to play my cousin all the time. Took me a while to remember the name of it but damn those paint jobs are etched in my memory😄😄😄
Wow this brings back memories :)
Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere my favorite!
4 is better

Ummmm, AC 3 was on ps2, not 1. :I
eins2001 Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere was a PS1 game, although the PS1 games also played on the venerable PS2. Ace Combat 04 was the seminal installment of the Ace Combat series to the PS2 from Project Aces in 2001.
eins2001

i AGREE WITH YOU ASSAULT HORIZON SUCKS A LOT

I have this game for the PS1. You can complete this game in about an hour. Great game for a rainy day.
Mark definitely play Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere! It is a really good game. It had this cool 90's imagined near future style, great music and awesome game play!
I bought the whole series on ebay I'm currently on #4, cannot wait to play #7 with PSVR
Yay! I've spotted Polygon Man. He's at around the middle of the clip. :)
Great pioneer game. I just finished it for the first time these days.
What a game it was. Top soundtrack.
What a great Game
I wish I got one for my PS1
So many Childhood Memorys =)
I fuckin love the Ace Combat series, (just started Ace Combat Infinity) and yea, I'm surprised how good this is to be made in 1995. Namco was clearly on to something at the start.
that was my favourite game when i first got my playstation in 2000 :3
This is the first game I ever played from start to finish.
The Ace Combat series has to be one of my favs series on the PS1. I think thou AC2 was my Fav!
The wingmen were useless, I used the money to buy more planes.
I love your show! Lord Karnage rules!
Was about to send you this one actually
ok i get it now... i always wondered why air combat never seemed to have a sequel.... IT BECAME ACE COMBAT! which i have played many games of
In Japan it is known as Ace Combat as well, it was changed for the North America release.
This was the first game I played on ps1 it there in 95.
Enjoyed playing with F-4 Phantom II

this game was so awesome. one of the best flyers out there.

This is one of my PS1 favorites.
This game's intro and menu is the fastest way for me to feel like I'm ten again..

Loved this game
I miss my childhood :(
Omfg MY CHILD HOOD THIS WAS SO FUN!!!!! What a weird game to!!!!
I was about to say "Mark, review Assault Horizon please?"... then you dropped the insult.
My brother and I used to play the one on one dogfighting mode on this all the time
I can't get over the fact that this game looks like it could've been a Jaguar CD game.
Where did you learn to fly?
I think that's the first time I've ever heard Mark talk shit about a game. It really goes to show you how bad Assault Horizon is.
Assault Horizon is a fucking terrible game and a disgrace to Ace Combat.

I only liked its graphics!
i know right? and it's not the only time, he bashed assault horizon in his ace combat 4 review too
Ken Chen Haha I heard. I watch the video as well and his comments are valid. They really botched the story in assault horizon into this generic modern drama invovling the russians. But I played the beta to this ace combat zero or something the new one which focuses on online play and it is pretty good, with assault horizon's graphics but without the pursuit baby mode.
It's not a terrible game. I can understand if you would consider it a bad entry to the Ace Combat series but it's definitely not a terrible game.
jacksprat1990

Jeezus! Every time a company actually ups the ante and gives us a new spin "generic gamers" just down it and ask for the same old shit.

Control are stiff because you are using beginner controls btw :P
I played this as a kid.
An Ed-209 that plays discs would be the shit!
Did you know, games that run at 60fps on the PS1, being played on the PS3, show interlacing during movement. Test it with Bloody Roar 1 or 2 if you want to. I think DOA is the same, and Tombal No.1
Have you played Ace Combat Infinity YET?
Change the controls to expert level xD Flying on arcade mode was a bit boring
Ah a blast from the past, still an awesome game and yes way better then Assault Horizon! But yes you must play Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere Japanese version , the only true version of the game :D
JESUS GREAT SHOT
Great memories! Loved the Air/Ace series alternate world flight combat. Sorry that Namco rebooted with that lousy recent game! but not the awsome soundtrack
I SWEAR TO GOD, he has at least once, bought a game and said it came from a viewer.
you need to do a review of aero fighters assault for n64... its my favorite fighter jet game ever made even better than ace combat 4
Ace combat 2 was so good. I beat that game like 20 times.
Lovely game.
this game looks great.
Namco with a simulation gem. #itsiron
id say Ace Combat 3 (the full version) is one of the best
Silly CGR, ED209 isn't a Playstation.
I think it a little unfair that people are quick to bash Assault horizon for trying something new and yet they forgive AC6 which for me was a god awful pile of trash. I've played the Ace combat series for years and AC6 is the only one i've ever sold in disgust.

Why are the missile smokes or trails looks awful?? :-P I´ll finish that game when I was 17 years old, now I´m 33 years old.
Why no dreamcast version ?
Why no Vectrex version?
Why no Tiger Electronics version?
sorry got confused with Aerowings lol similar weird paint scheme
alice Merridew i fucking love aero fighters assault
One of the reasons to get a PS1 at release!.
these reviews used to be so good, its a shame to see this channel's downfall. wish the old CGR came back
You have to play the third one....
Also, what the hell are you talking about?!, Assault Horizon was awesome!.
I haven't played that one, but Assault Horizon was awesome for me.
not better than Air Combat 1 and 2 Heavy metal \m/
Wait, is that a fraking Y/F 23 Black Widow II? That was a Black Widow II, wasn't it? F'na.
This is compatible with ps2
No shit
Did you seriously not Review that it has 2Player !?
Gotta find AC3
PS1 vs N64, who wins?
Vectrex
PS1 for sure.
COD
Both Win.

I love Assault Horizon :/
Why are you posting this video?
ttwiitch Yu SHIT!Mine too :D . When i finished it i felt soo acomplished ! xD
Couldn't get past the 2nd or third level when I was 7. this game blew balls!
Ahhh.. jason fearn." I couldn't get past the 2nd or 3rd level, this game blew".
The game looks fun but those color schemes look terrible.....
Assault Horizon was good Game but a bad Ace Combat. :(
I found the pointing at the camera very offensive and racist!
Lol ... i forgot how awful the ps1 games looked.... it was such a weak system compared to the n64.... this just looks like a colored mess
dreadful
