Just because you have superpowers, does that mean you have to be a superhero/villain? Jessica Jones story kinda answers the question by saying you don't have to be.
+Jebbtube Yeah, I thought the same thing at first. But since Jessica and Kilgrave's history is such an important part of the Netflix series, telling it here could be considered spoilers for anyone not familiar with Alias.
In Alias, Purple Man doesn't even appear until the end and much of the things that he does to Jessica we find out as she's telling them to Luke. To be honest I loved Alias because we got to know Jessica more than just a victim. We actually get to see her grow from a fragile place to someone of strength. But the focus didn't obsess on Purple Man too much as if the comics understood that focusing on him granted him more power over her. In Alias, this was a woman trying to move on despite all the things that happened to her. A fact that the Netflix show missed completely and instead we get a woman who is so obsessed with her attacker to the point beyond reason or logic.
I hate the fact DC drained all the colour out of their movies and everything is either shit or like Batman, and don't get me started on the whole Superman is like Jesus thing. Flash and Supergirl have colour and are a blast to watch, just when I thought DC couldn't threaten Marvel's current hold they announce they won't blend the two. WTF!
+Kolonel Grotskull yea I agree...they making everything feel like batman when it should only be just batman dark gritty world...I actually watch a short on RUclips how man of steel looks with more color and honestly I would rather watch that then the dreary colors in the standard...but they could've did so much with the expanding..and if no one agrees then it's sad cuz they not true comic book fans
Alias is such a good comic series. A well-written hidden gem. This coming from a long-time comic fan who's grown tired of major crossover events, rebooted origins, and character deaths.
+_TheTurtle i'm not quite sure if netflix is going to show that. because i think the show is going to start after she has been mind controlled by killgrave, maybe they will show some flashbags
+Pocket Heart The less mention of purple man the better it will give non comic book readers a shock to watch him in jessica jones because he is seriously one of the creepiest fucked up villian's to date.
Uh, did you guys make an executive decision not to mention she has an alcohol abuse problem? Thats kinda important to her character, and in a way makes her even more relatable...
She tried to, but he got bit before she asked, and two when she felt like a freak un-awear Peter Paker was going there the same thing when he was becoming spider-man
Well in the comics, they were both in high school, but in the MCU, I dont think they will for that reason, besides she's going to be with Luke Cage any way
+George Arizaga By the time Peter Parker became Spiderman he was already swarmed with sexy women. She would just be another miscellaneous love interest at the back of the line.
+Unshaved Malevolence It isn't a spoiler if it's something people already know. I've never even read Jessica Jones/Alias and I know that WatchMojo missed a HUGE part of her origin story by not including The Purple Man...
Evan Bagwell People barely know her character exists. They know she has a Netflix show coming and that she was somehow abused in the past, going off the trailers. That's it.
This origion story didn't occur until deep into the run and really was an afterthought. Note how the art changes to mimic the Stan Lee Jack Kirby style of the early 1960s. The real story behind Jessica Jones and Alias is her meeting with Killgrave, the purple man, who tortured her mentally and physically and left her the troubled character that is so distinctive. In the fantastic TV show David Tennent is frightening as Kilgrave (he is not purple but there is always something purple in his clothing).
So in the MCU, we have Marvel Cosmic, with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Knights with the Avengers and it's core roster of films and Marvel Underground/Street with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Ok, what's next MC2 or Marvel Ultimate?
+sailorkeyblader Not one character (excluding Von Strucker) from Agents of Shield have been in any movie since phase 1. I think they've earned their own sector of the universe. For example, The Most Wanted show on ABC will have no characters connected to the Avengers. Nowadays ABC shows are as disconnected as the Netflix shows are from the movies. Some might say they're even more disconnected since the Avengers won't find out about Coulson's team until at least infinity war. Whereas the Defenders aren't hiding from anyone and are in the same city as the avengers tower.
That ending scene made for jessica jones bar fight was ripped straight out of shrek

why didnt i knew about this caracter? i loved this origin story. she is awesome. ill try to find comics about her here in brazil. grate job... again guys
Nightress? Jewel? How about "The night jewel?" "Night gem?" Ok, that might sound like a My Little Pony name or a stripper name. Ironic how often those 2 coincide. But hey, they're both about tattoos on your flank.
Sort of a for runner to the characters I hope to create in the future. People with super powers who act heroically but feel no need to bother with costumes and the whole secret identity thing. Though what I am creating shares few parallels, any parallels people would make are unintended as I only learned about Jessica Jones this year.
Never Knew about Jessica Jones... but have been in love with K.Ritt forever! one of my Favorite Persona's being her Character on "She's out of my League" - I Like the abuse!
You do realize the main reason she didn't want to be a superhero was because she was kidnapped by the Purple Man who sexually abused and tortured her for 8 months when no family nor other heroes came to save her. It was because of this that she became an alcoholic and didn't want to be a hero because she thought nobody cared about her.
How ironic, there's a special Live-Action series about this character coming in the long run at Netflix, and this special origin vid shows up before that? MAN, I guess she definitely deserves this, huh?
Sorry Marlon, its hard to get comic books in Jamaica, all of my graphic novels are old and hard to get comics hear. I am probably the only one in my country that like the comics, so they don't sell comics that much especially new ones, I didn't know about guardians of the galaxy until I saw the movie.
I know it's oversued and all but the idea of radiation giving habilities at least isn't too farfetched, in fact, realistic in a weird sense though.... i remember this from a random trivia comics video XD
Alias is also the comic that gave us the ebst version of Purple Man: first,t ehy deconstruct the fact he has become a joke villain by this point, by showing us just much harm a person who can control the minds others can do. he also, like deadpool, is aware of his nature of a comicbook character, and even comments on the artstyke, but he is never played for humour and instead comes across as far more sinister and terrifying. and theeeen he just kinda went back to being a joke in the comics :/
WHERE'S THE PURPLE MAN F*CKING UP HER LIFE IN THIS!?! That is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTs of her 'career' as a costumed super heroine. Also where's her alcoholism here??1? She's a heavy drinker, and many of her most defining traits as a character are tied into that?!? If you're going to do an origins of her as a detective, her drinking and The Purple man need to be addressed.
Top 10s 'N' Tributes Why would Watch Mojo care about the show? What vested interest do they have in hiding anything about the show? The studio doesn't run this channel, and this channel gains nothing from hiding anything about her character!? This video is made to supply some background info, but they are leaving out the most important parts to her origin and character!!!1!
While I have my favorites of marvel characters i love the marvel universe in general every character has a human side to them, that's why at times they are better than dc in marvel justice isn't the only priority unlike dc where it is, that's why I love marvel😄
No mention of Kilgrave? Isn't he part of the reason she doesn't consider herself a "superhero." And isn't her being an alcoholic a big part of her story too?
Expecting a serie about a some of my favorites characters... they picked Jessica Jones Expecting a super hero origin about a some of my favorites characters... they picked Jessica Jones
Just because you have superpowers, does that mean you have to be a superhero/villain? Jessica Jones story kinda answers the question by saying you don't have to be.
oh, radiation, is there anything you _can't_ do?
I know right
+PMW3 Radiation: everything a growing superhero needs.
Yup
+PMW3 cure cancer... oh wait...
KainGerc
well if you do it right
Just gonna gloss over her time with the Purple Man, are we?
+Jebbtube this is mainly her origin story. also, spoilers for the climax of alias, which many have not read.
aceotaku Tell that to Screen Junkies.
+Jebbtube Yeah, I thought the same thing at first. But since Jessica and Kilgrave's history is such an important part of the Netflix series, telling it here could be considered spoilers for anyone not familiar with Alias.

A fact that the Netflix show missed completely and instead we get a woman who is so obsessed with her attacker to the point beyond reason or logic.
That would spoil the show...
DC states they won't crossover their cinematic and tv universes and yet Marvel plans to do just that.
God damn it DC!
+Kolonel Grotskull yea its disappointing...it will be so cool to see dc world expand from tv and movies....everyone will love it what a shame
WTF!

Zein Alfurati butthurt ass nigga....I was trying to keep the peace..just go about our business mister
I know all this already...we are just stating it will be cool and that is all..i understand I get it
Alias is such a good comic series. A well-written hidden gem. This coming from a long-time comic fan who's grown tired of major crossover events, rebooted origins, and character deaths.
Earth 616 = A world where Radiation gives you super powers.
Our Earth = A world where Radiation gives you cancer
They should've covered the humiliation she suffered at the hands of the Purple Man. That's what moulded her more than anything else.
We (duck) wants a superhero origins of Howard the duck!
hail the ducks
*quack*
I'm the chosen one!
+A Duck I agree.
+Howard The Duck YES!!!!
Can't wait for the netflix series to drop
20th of November
+JoeVegasRichard I know very little about Jessica Jones, but I so hope it will be as good as Daredevil.
+Ink129 i heard that it's going to have even darker tone than daredevil.
+JoeVegasRichard much darker, I don't know if it will be in the tv show but the comics are really dark-mind control, rape etc
+_TheTurtle i'm not quite sure if netflix is going to show that.
because i think the show is going to start after she has been mind controlled by killgrave, maybe they will show some flashbags
All that and you don't mention the Purple Man? Whacky.
+Pocket Heart i be tall this has got you seeing... purple? tch tch tch.
to explicit
+Teddy Gallagher I believe you mean *too explicit.
probably trying not to spoil anything in the show
+Pocket Heart The less mention of purple man the better it will give non comic book readers a shock to watch him in jessica jones because he is seriously one of the creepiest fucked up villian's to date.
Uh, did you guys make an executive decision not to mention she has an alcohol abuse problem? Thats kinda important to her character, and in a way makes her even more relatable...
Cant believe we have to wait 3 fucking years for season 2 of Jessica Jones!
The origin of John constantine
Already done, you potato vagina.
+Arrownoir using it
makes me wonder why she didn't date peter parker / spiderman.
She tried to, but he got bit before she asked, and two when she felt like a freak un-awear Peter Paker was going there the same thing when he was becoming spider-man
if that happens in the mcu she would be a pedo
Well in the comics, they were both in high school, but in the MCU, I dont think they will for that reason, besides she's going to be with Luke Cage any way
+George Arizaga Because he wasn't interested in her.
+George Arizaga By the time Peter Parker became Spiderman he was already swarmed with sexy women. She would just be another miscellaneous love interest at the back of the line.
Why didn't they mention anything about the purple man? He's like her nemesis
+Cartoon Lover 98 Probably to not spoil the show, since it seems to be based directly on Alias.
+Unshaved Malevolence It isn't a spoiler if it's something people already know. I've never even read Jessica Jones/Alias and I know that WatchMojo missed a HUGE part of her origin story by not including The Purple Man...
the only possible reason they could have skipped that part is cause it's too explicit. but that's kind of a stretch
Evan Bagwell People barely know her character exists. They know she has a Netflix show coming and that she was somehow abused in the past, going off the trailers. That's it.
It's because the show hasn't come out yet so they don't have any footage to show
Never heard of her, until the streaming show was announced.
IM SO F*ING HYPED FOR THE NETFLIX SERIES ON FRIDAY
This origion story didn't occur until deep into the run and really was an afterthought. Note how the art changes to mimic the Stan Lee Jack Kirby style of the early 1960s. The real story behind Jessica Jones and Alias is her meeting with Killgrave, the purple man, who tortured her mentally and physically and left her the troubled character that is so distinctive. In the fantastic TV show David Tennent is frightening as Kilgrave (he is not purple but there is always something purple in his clothing).
Why did you guys completely overlook purple man in her origin ?
So excited about the Jessica Jones Netflix series.
Marvel Mystics with Dr strange
You forgot S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC
Henry Navarro Still Marvel Knights in a way since there's a direct connection to Avengers
+sailorkeyblader Not one character (excluding Von Strucker) from Agents of Shield have been in any movie since phase 1. I think they've earned their own sector of the universe. Isn't the Marvel Knights title more associated with marvel's street level heroes?
Good timing for the new jessica jones netflix show!
I got an ad for the Netflix series before the video for this
Gonna binge watch the shit out of this on Friday
That ending scene made for jessica jones bar fight was ripped straight out of shrek
why didnt i knew about this caracter? i loved this origin story. she is awesome. ill try to find comics about her here in brazil. grate job... again guys

Nightress? Jewel? How about "The night jewel?" "Night gem?" Ok, that might sound like a My Little Pony name or a stripper name. Ironic how often those 2 coincide. But hey, they're both about tattoos on your flank.

All these people thinking they're first.
i just finished watching the series Jessica Jones on Netflix and its a good TV show.
I love the Netflix series of Jessica Jones 🙌🏾
This video was uploaded on my birthday
Never Knew about Jessica Jones... but have been in love with K.Ritt forever! one of my Favorite Persona's being her Character on "She's out of my League" - I Like the abuse!
You do realize the main reason she didn't want to be a superhero was because she was kidnapped by the Purple Man who sexually abused and tortured her for 8 months when no family nor other heroes came to save her. It was because of this that she became an alcoholic and didn't want to be a hero because she thought nobody cared about her.
percent timing cause I want to watch the Netflix show but I didn't know who she was.
I'm gonna roll around in radioactive material so I can get super powers
GF stumbled upon the trailer on Netflix, she is super pumped as she enjoys female super heroes but despises Wonder Woman
How ironic, there's a special Live-Action series about this character coming in the long run at Netflix, and this special origin vid shows up before that? MAN, I guess she definitely deserves this, huh?
Coincidence probably.
I like the show... Kept me watching and wanting more
3 days left until the series comes out Netflix yes i'm on board for this show ! =)
I don't usually like marvel but jessica Jones seems pretty cool
YOU LET JANE DIE....BITCH!
-Jesse Pinkman
Who's watching after defenders
Do an origins about Casey Jones next XD...
Can you do a comic book origin on Kang the conquerer
Thank god you put this video, i had no idea who she was ._.
Why was the Scorpion attacking a Laundromat?
To the marvel fans what series do you recommend for jessica jones and luke cage?
I understand why she's a lesser known character
Thanks, that answered some questions.

Love her already. Can't wait.
4 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!
there was a lot that was left out of this
Sorry Marlon, its hard to get comic books in Jamaica, all of my graphic novels are old and hard to get comics hear. I am probably the only one in my country that like the comics, so they don't sell comics that much especially new ones, I didn't know about guardians of the galaxy until I saw the movie.
Do one on the Purple Man, Killgrave.
so the marvel tv shows are going to connect with the cinematic universe?
I can't wait til friday!
can u do DC's Citizen Steel and Black Spider
HOLY SHIT! Thats where that meme came from!? I had no idea!
Are you sure that she wasn't getting "personal" with pictures of GabeN? XD
I know it's oversued and all but the idea of radiation giving habilities at least isn't too farfetched, in fact, realistic in a weird sense though.... i remember this from a random trivia comics video XD
They forgot about The Purple Man. And her stay with him for 8 Months.
Do King Shark's origins.
No mention of her time under Kilgrave's influence?
I think the real question is, will fans be able to formulate a theory between Krysten Ritter's characters in Breaking Bad, and Jessica Jones?
+SicEmPride Mr. White... Pinkman... Purple Man has to be in there somewhere! It writes itself :)
Why tf was there a villain attacking a laundry mat? Maybe he was just getting his costume cleaned and Jessica just assumed he was attacking them smh
please make a supervillain origins brotherhood of mutants
Okay someone explain how she ties in with daredevil please other then both taking place in Hell's Kitchen?
+xTGE Daredevil, her, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are all going to team up in The Defenders series. It's like The Avengers.
That Claire apears in the last episode, and the street level heroes will eventually meet up
I miss the old intro/outro..😥
Stan Lee is the man!!!
Doesn’t Jessica Jones being Peter Parker’s age create a giant plot hole
How come there's no mention of the Purple Man? He's a huge part of her origin, basically making her the person she is.
+Nathan Remotigue Probably don't want to spoil the TV series.
so there was musterbuting on her comic
WHERE'S THE PURPLE MAN F*CKING UP HER LIFE IN THIS!?! That is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTs of her 'career' as a costumed super heroine. Also where's her alcoholism here??1? She's a heavy drinker, and many of her most defining traits as a character are tied into that?!? If you're going to do an origins of her as a detective, her drinking and The Purple man need to be addressed.
+David Stotler Probably don't want to spoil the TV series.
It was spoiled in the comics like 10 years ago. :/
David Stotler Most of this video's viewers likely haven't read the Alias comics.
+Top 10s 'N' Tributes not me. but i do love punisher MAX
Top 10s 'N' Tributes Why would Watch Mojo care about the show? What vested interest do they have in hiding anything about the show? Please make A Super villain Origin on Trigon from DC..... Please!!!!!!!!! The Villain is too UNDER RATED!!
Uhmm is Zendeya in home coming will become jesica jonez?

"Getting personal with a photo of The Human Torch"
I mean...Chris Evans am I right
Hell, yes! ;-)
How the hell will she fit Infinity Wat? I'm dying to know.
Christian charles probably just a cameo
I hope not many kids in real life tried intentionally to be hit by radioactive materials to gain superpowers
Jessica Jones = Wonder Woman - Amazon Training + Raised in Queens, NY
My teacher is named Jessica jones
No mention of Kilgrave? Isn't he part of the reason she doesn't consider herself a "superhero." And isn't her being an alcoholic a big part of her story too?
+ThePhanatik116 Probably don't want to spoil the TV series.
cant wait to see daredevil series
I guess WM didn't want to explain why she quit the superhero life. After all, it's an origin story, not a downfall...
please do the purple man
Thanx watch mojo
Expecting a serie about a some of my favorites characters... they picked Jessica Jones
Expecting a super hero origin about a some of my favorites characters... they picked Jessica Jones
