    Back in 2009, as an aspiring artist, I used to watch this video wondering what kind of witchcraft was going on. Now in 2020, looking back at my favorites list, I can watch it from an artist's point of view as well as an adult, and take so much more out of it while feeling the nostalgia. I'm glad that you didn't remove it

    When I was lost on how to paint and finding my own style some years ago I watched this video. It helped me a lot on understanding how you don't need super fancy stuff to make your art look awesome. I tried to keep it simple since then and not over think it, because if you could do THAT with pen and blur, I could so too (with some practice). Eventually I got to understand sai better and learnt a lot from other artists, but this video is what got me going. And whenever I am lost again, because I think I overdo things, I come back and watch it again. Just to remind me to keep it simple and FUN.

    This video is such a throwback. I used to have this downloaded (because my internet was very very bad) and watch it over and over again, wondering "Oh when will I be this good?" and "I wish I have a pen tablet." Thankfully, I now have a pen tablet but sadly, I gave up on art. I was hoping to be serious on art since middle school but now, as my dream slowly crushed under parents scrutiny, society, the fear of not making it as an artist and my not-art-oriented-at-all major, I finally give it a rest. But I'm still gonna draw, even if it wont be seen by anybody other than me.
    Man this made me so emotional lol.

    Sight-size, Charles Bargue, etc., etc. I draw the exact same thing over and over again for practice and it solves what I think you're saying in the first paragraph. To me drawing isn't some esoteric thing that takes luck and some magical 'artistic ability', it's rout work. Literally, it's a simple regimen I follow, setting up reference at the exact size I want right next to my work surface and measuring by sight(you can use thread, a pencil, a needle, whatever.... a straight line).

      Well, the layer options and stuff is difficult and I don't know how to make myself a color palette, or do highlights, and I don't have a tablet yet, so I can't see the difference in mouse/tablet. ;w;

      haha, no your fine ^__^ and you should get a tablet if you really like drawing, there's a HUGE difference. ok, so i have 2 options for you. i can eather make a Sai how to draw video for you to watch, and show you how to do all those things and more, or i can get your email, or some way to message you, and tell you how to do it. you pick. cx

    I think that it's that tablets have something called pressure the lines can be thicker and or sharper depending on how much pressure is used, If it's not that then it's the fact that lines will look more clean and sharp if done in one fast movement not slowly

  • @RingaButt
    @RingaButt 12 лет назад

    In general most people use one layer for the sketch, one layer for lineart and two layers for each colour on the picture (one for the base colour, one for shading) so I'd say around 13 at the least, I'm not too sure though.
    It's different for everybody though, artists like Ru3na use around 2 to 3 layers, while I usually end up with about 9 just for the lines.
    There's no set wrong or right amount of layers to use, it's whatever you feel most comfortable with using u v u

    I'd argue that William Bouguereau is obejctively the most accurate artist ever. A quick google search if you would... I enjoy anime and manga and buy artbooks, etc.; I love anime and appreciate the greatness in designing and illustrating idealized characters. I think Bougereau is in a whole different league and the point is that they didn't usually teach anatomy in ateliers as it's not necessary to draw something as it actually is. It's definitely not necessary for precise, photographic art.

    Just with, for example, quality graphic design. A simple but effective logo design has knowledge, experience and skill behind it, even though, to an "untrained eye" it might seem as a random composition.
    People tend to trivialize those things because, when copying a reference, it's unquestionably easier to draw manga (or said logo, for that matter) than something realistic. But when it comes to actually producing a new piece, the story is quite different.

    1) It looks like they did cuz they can move parts of it and it doesn't affect other parts
    2) Either the pressure sensitivity or they changed brush sizes
    3) Easy Paint Tool SAI and probably the brush tool, maybe water colour or blur for blending :)

    It may be called something along the lines of "Stabilizer" in the settings of your program (like in the video's top right) settings. If you're using a Wacom, then try setting the sensitivity and DPI to lower settings in addition to your program's stabilizer. If you're getting a "jittery" input from your pen, then try re-installing your driver software and setting everything to default.

  • @RidleyOh
    @RidleyOh 13 лет назад

    @LAZYTARD
    the stabilizer effect basically slows down the following of the line, so you can line art smoother.
    It helps if you have a bigger canvas too.
