Greydon Square you are a real Hip-Hop artist. This album is dope and your rhymes are thought-provoking. I support this type of Rap and not that mainstream nonsense.
this is the smartest song I've ever listened to. Every line expands the themes and the concepts within to the next level. It's perfect, but part of me is sad greydon is so underground, Imagine what a impact he would have if he was as popular as the dudes rapping about shoes, chains, and other banal things.
+Robert Driscoll I was literally writing about this VERY topic. Also, you see the song Omniverse if you want something even more advanced than this. But i'm glad you enjoyed brother. Welcome to the #GUniverse. Don't get lost though, it's MASSIVE! lol
+Greydon Square I've been bumping your stuff for years! I've LOVE "Omniverse". I felt compelled to comment randomly for some reason, lol. You're preaching to the converted.... :)
The homeless man imagery in this video got me thinking. This is unrelated of the video itself, but it got me thinking about the major hypocrisy of religious people. These people who pray for the poor in church, are the same people who will walk past a homeless man and look down upon them, and refuse to help them. These are the same who pray for world peace, yet believe that a nuke or invasion is the only solution to the situation in the Middle East. Prayer to them is just a way to take the blame off of them, to make them feel like they have done their part. Now me as an atheist, I admit, I am not perfect, I usually walk right past a homeless man when I see one. The major difference: I don't pretend to care about them and go around shaming people who don't help them, even though they don't help either. I am honest with people. It is hypocrisy like this that we need to call out. Keep up the good work Greydon!!
What I'm seeing is symbolism, "summer" is the warm religious lie keeping everyone happy about their misinformed lives but winter is the cold hard truth. Am I right greyon?
The way I see it, Summer is any ideological stance with no rational basis (not just religion, but a wide panoply of notions based in ignorance), and the cold winds coming are reason and evidence.
You're a breath of fresh air. Most rap is meaningless and empty, while yours is on the verge of brilliance. I really admire that you use your talent as a way to inform, or at least provide another way of thinking. Science bless.
Update: I started listening to other rappers, like J Cole, Childish Gambino, etc, and they are talented. When I wrote this, I was completely ignorant to rap, I thought it was all "Bitches, money, pussy," but that's not true at all. Some of it is really emotional, and some of it is really funny. It's pretty much all I listen to now, I was just in denial.
I apologize if this sounds a bit rude, but I simply cannot believe that you would even list people like Cole and Gambino as good representatives of what Hip Hop (yes, Hip Hop, not Rap) is really about and how meaningful it can be. Don't get me wrong, those two are nowhere near as bad as some of the other popular rappers nowadays, but they still don't even compare to REAL Hip Hop artists, who are at the very essence of what it means to be an artist, rather than a businessman who deals in cheap sets of 12-16 bars. If you're interested, though, I recommend you check out people/groups like Common, Cannibal Ox, Da Grassroots, Gang Starr, Rakim, Atmosphere, Eyedea, Aesop Rock, Blueprint or Illogic. Peace.
Greydon, you're a well informed, free thinking type of individual. People should ask more questions, not take the status quo as the absolute truth. Without questioning, some of the most compelling concepts and inventions, would of never existed. Lastly, I think you for your time and effort that you display within your music.
Not sure if I mentioned yet, but this is a daily jam for me. It reminds me of where I come from in my own past. Been that dude, just in a different city. It's always refreshing to find out you're not alone in this world, especially when you're this far outside the box...
It’s 2024. This song still slaps. I wish more people had heard it. Also, dudes flow reminds me soooo much of Guru from Gang Starr with that monotone but super interesting laid back style. I fuckin love it.
I really like the wide shot of you walking with the cart. To me it illustrates how alone Atheist and non-conformist can feel. Well made video Greydon, keep it up man. You are my favorite hip hop artist.
Its been a spell since I listened to the G man and I had a craving for some of his intellect. Went searching...didn't find much on youtube anymore, I can support that...then I bumped into this...damn Greydon...still one of the most highbrow artists to hit the scene.
This guy is a genius. His production, lyrics and flow are absolutely brilliant. I'm not a huge fan of hip hop in general, but this guy is a class act. Everything he makes is gold. 11/10
This guy just gets better and better. Good stuff Grey. Been following your music since your first album and been a fan since. Nuff respect from London, UK.
Holy shit dude. I would literally kill for more music like this. Music with meaning. This is the type of stuff I crave. Absolutely wonderful and a privilege to listen to.
@@greydonsquare Like some other person said above me, I have been compelled to hear everything you have on Spotify and I had to learn a new way of listening to music - normally I try to ignore the lyrics and have become quite good at it 😄 But you make me want to pause, rewind, perk my ears up - I want to hear your thoughts first and only then surrender to the rhythms, basslines etc. which is normally what I go for 😁 I love all of it really. Thank you❣️
Ay bro, listen. I don't hear many people like you, and I appreciate you bro. It's so satisfying to hear someone say the things I've been thinking for years, not to mention the poetry and elegance of it all. You think I ever heard another rapper use the word obsequious? I get the chance I'mma buy you a coffee, heh. If not, keep up the good stuff.
I can't thank you enough for being as wonderful of an artist as you are! not enough words to express the love i have for your music and that of you as an artist. Please! never stop doing the greatness that is you!
Man, you went to the bottom of the Mariana Trench with this one. I swear-the sample in the background sounds like one of the songs from the Silent Hill 1 or 2 games. NICE!
How have I not heard of this man sooner? His lyricism is easily on par with legends like Guru or Rakim, plus his entire delivery is just so wonderfully reminiscent of old-school Hip Hop. I swear, if it wasn't for the video quality, I would easily be fooled into thinking this was from the 90's or something, lol.
You can join us at r/backpacker on reddit if you want some good variety m8(how I found Greydon Square). Think most of us had the same thought process happen when we stumbled on this powerful MC.
Greydon, I think this is an exemplary music video. When I listen to music, I always envision songs having these type of videos, videos that really do the work justice, and not just some absurd gimmick. Excellent work, man! And kudos to all involved, keep it up!
I know it can be a challenge to come up with concepts that reflect the seriousness and emergence of your lyrics. This was very well done, and beautifully shot. Much luv from the H.
Fucking Greydon rules. He is without a doubt one of the most progressive rappers out there. I messaged him and he messaged me back with kind and helpful words. He is one of the few rappers who care about his fans.
I was barely introduced to you by my friend and I wish to thank him. I also thank you for creating such beautiful material. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to show this to my classmates. I'm currently in a high school in Texas so hopefully they understand this let alone like it haha. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
I'm not a strict atheist, I guess, since my definition of "god" transcends most mainstream religious interpretations and also doesn't sit well with secular humanist types. I don't like the term "spiritual" either, because it seems that most folks who use this term don't understand what it actually means. Anyways, semantics aside - I gotta say - your stuff is mad dope one every level. Loved the Rupert Sheldrake ref in this track. Love all your work. I can tell you put a lot of thought into the entire final product. Type III is on some other shit, foreal! Mind blown. Huge fan. Much love. Keep it up!

Nice. Plus the bum represents his position within the black community - a member of tiny minority that the majority treats with disdain.
