That folding knife… That chopsticks… Ur Japanese… Ur face… How a yt video can be so American and so Japanese at the same time!! I just can’t stop watching it haha
Here in Sweden 🇸🇪 we take the roe out of the sack, we mix in a little sugar and salt, then we lightly smoke it and spread it on bread at breakfast. Or we buy a tube of Kalles Kaviar! 😁
Great job. Thanks for sharing. It’s funny and informative. Not sure where you’re at but hard to find a market here in Chicago with the choices you have. I’m a big fan of fish roe and looking for ways to make my own. All the commercial roe is either expensive (tobiko, masago, lumpfish) super expensive (salmon, trout) or crazy expensive (sturgeon, paddlefish) carp around here are full of roe and usually easy to catch. You’re correct about spawning, they don’t eat so very hard to catch especially when roe is probably best just before spawn. Keep up the good work.
Great video. Wish my local Asian market or farmers market sold roe like that. It's all just regular stuff then chicken gizzards, livers, hearts, tripe, feet etc.
Great cooking, language, and editing skills! A splash of sesame oil makes the pickles more fragrant and rounder. Alternatively, you might want to try some Korean Radish Pickles... they refreshing white cubes that pair well with any rich food (like fried chicken or pork belly). Keep up the great videos!
This is helpful, I catch redfin and often they have the large egg sac full of eggs, I used to throw it away into the water after gutting it, but now I will keep it next time and try to put it in the soup type format you did here, which seems tastier than the deep fried one you did.
I never try to remove the fishy taste of fish because I like the taste. Different species taste different and I like them all. Never tried Carp roe but I will soon. Great channel!
I have like 10lbs of carp roe in the freezer from a 50lb monster I got bow fishing last spring. I didn't want to waste it. I was going to use it for catfish bait. I think I still WILL!! Maybe I'll try fresh roe on the next one I shoot, catch??? Wish I could make you a video of a million different ways to open a bottle without an opener!!! Using the point of the knife isn't one of them!!! 😅😅😅😅 Grip the neck of the bottle, lay the blade flat on your forefinger or thumb cutting edge out & just safety pry up!
I wish I had a grocery store like yours near me. The labels are all in English, so I assume you're living in the US. What region do you live in and what is the name of your store?
salmon roe served in sushi restaurants is raw. they're soaked in a salt and sake solution. but cooked roe is popular more I think if you're gonna do it yourself.
Just casually eating carp eggs.....that shit look horrible ....and I know the sand fleas tasted like shit cause I had them and they are NO good and not to be eaten anyway
I watched your Asian Carp cook video and now this one. I like how you can make seemingly non appetizing foods appetizing!
Thank you so much! Means alot!

Hmart and mitsuwa isn’t exactly in Chicago but within driving distance and very worth it. You can try Argyle or Chinatown for those ingredients.
I remember my mom used to love eating cod roe but I've never seen any carp roe for sale so I've never seen anyone eating it but you made it look good!
Big fan of the Japanese word of the day!!!!

Finally caught a carp and it’s in the fridge. Was loaded with roe. Common type
Roe is the best tasting Carp out there. Also very expensive in our country.
Your videos have encouraged me to go to my local Asian market for more than Pocky and Ramen.

You might have liked the fried carp roe more had you seasoned it or the flour.
Carp roe has to be rank. I don’t like carp in general.
A hobo wouldn’t eat this. Good video though.
Try mixing da fish row with chicken eggs an steam or fry it
that NA heineken is great
Ginger helps get rid of stinky smellls too
Ginger and urine. I use. The finer helps with the piss taste.

You can buy tins of carp caviar for $30-40. But if you can catch the spawn you get the whole shebang.
Where’s the seasoning?
Do they always cook roe? Is it ever eaten raw?

Dats money dude
Good vid! But May I suggest a different beer? Something IPA. Goose Island or Anti Hero.. Try it; you'll like it.... S
I'm not a fan of hoppy beers. But thanks for the recommendation!
I hate bitter hoppy beers as well. You might enjoy a sour or wheat beer

Salt and vinegar works really good to get the blood out and get rid of that fishy taste.
