Thank you, this was awesome. I really, really love Waterfalls. I would love to go to Iceland. I live in Florida so no waterfall here.so thanks again it was “ super cool “ you said that SUPER MANY TIMES. Ha, ha.❤️❤️🇺🇸🇩🇰🇺🇸🇩🇰
Great video and drone shots! We are going soon and thinking about bringing my drone. Is there a list of places online that are drone-friendly (or list that you cannot fly) of locations in Iceland posted somewhere? Were other travelers okay with your flying or did they find it annoying? Thanks
You can’t in the national parks. Otherwise I googled each location to see. I would only fly if we were alone as I definitely didn’t want to disturb others. We went during the year of Covid so it was easy for me to find spots or times when we were on our own.
You guys should definitely go to the north of Iceland next time you go. There is so much to see, especially around Mývatn. I've never been to the Westfjords but that should also be really beautiful.
wait what ?? you are trying to tell me there is waterfalls...on Iceland ?? who knew ;) this video with voice over and explanations was waaaayyyy better than the first one with just the footage no narrative... i really got way more out of it this time... good job guys !
Haha, thanks. Yeah, that first video was before we felt comfortable talking in front of the camera so much. Now we can't stop and need a clock to keep ourselves in check :). Glad you enjoyed the update!
Iceland is iconic even though I haven’t been there myself. Good place to go whale watching my brother did that with his family. Faroe islands is special too if you want a new idea. God weekend
Iceland - beautiful, stunning, unique, but too cold for my blood 🤣 Great drone shots! p.s. there are hiking-worthy black beaches on Santorini, Greece too ☀️ - all those volcanos!!
Aha - the dreaded waterfall overdose! It will get you in the end... If you make a second trip to Iceland and visit the West Fjords, I live in Ísafjorður. I am retired (time on my hands) and am good for a good travel tip or two. Drop me a comment if you are ever in these parts.
Thanks - super cool video you have made about Iceland - which I havent seen before now, because I have been driving around in Iceland, the last month, to take photos as you guys. Tomorrow is my last day in Iceland - the last week I have been in the south like you - but the first three weeks I spend in the north with base in Akureyri - a ton to se up there as well, when you come back some day. One month IS NOT ENOUGH - I´ll come back to this magical country :-) I should have been here too last year but had to delay it one year due to the corona thing.
Iceland is great and you seem to have had a terrific trip. Only thing I would do differently is the camper van. I don't want to make my own bed, do my own cleaning or cook my own food, when I'm on vaccation. 😀😀😀
If you ever consider going back I’d recommend going in the fall - we went there in Efterårsferien with our grown kids - we rented a house about 5 hours away from Reykjavik ( actually pretty near Geysir) with a hottub and got to see the aurora borealis from the hot tub ;) In uge 41/42 there is not really cold yet, but you have snow some places - when we visited Gullfoss our kids made a teeny tiny snowman on top of a rock - and even something a quaint as that is a great memory ;) We rented a car and even though we hat an itinerary we had one or two times where we saw a gravel road and just thought ‘wonder what’s at the end of this’ - one of the times we ended up crossing a lava field ( old lava) - crossing an almost dry river and hiking up a hill to see a glacier from the other side of a lake…. Sometimes the unexpected is sooo much fun!!!!
I've never been to Iceland, but I really want to go there, even more after watching your video. I'm not a fan of high temperatures (Danish Viking genes lol), so it would be an ideal place to go on a vacation for me. Thank you for another great video and best wishes to you and yours :-)
Wind together with rain are a really what will tax you the most. Even in the winter the temperature is not on it self that extreme, but when you add rain/snow, high wind and just a few hour of light in a day it can be "difficult". :-)
You definitely should, and the wind was a bit to adjust to. There were a few times I wanted to fly my drone but couldn't because it was just too windy. It can get a bit outrageous at times :). That said, it is one of the most amazing places I've been. So glad we went! And you are welcome for the video :).
No volcanoes? And of course if you'd visited in winter you'd have had a better chance to see some northern lights. Anyway, how's camping with a van in Iceland? Are they camping sites like here in DK where you pay and get a playground and showers in return? Or are they basically parking spots where you're allowed to stay for free? Or is it like Sweden where you're basically allowed to camp anywhere if you keep a distance to any houses, and remember to clean up after yourself? Very fitting to follow up with a car related video right after one about Iceland, as far as I know, the Icelanders love their cars, even drive them across small lakes and stuff. Wish to visit Iceland some day... but perhaps more to see volcanoes and some really visible northern lights (even when we have aurora borealis in DK they're just a dim lit horizon that leaves a lot to imagination), than seeing the waterfalls that the melting glaciers are making. Cheers, and thanks for the video.
Oh, I should have mentioned the part about camping. You aren't allowed to park/camp anywhere, you do need to use a campsite. Most have facilities, places to sit and eat, sink to clean things, and some have wifi. Some include the cost of a shower, but in most cases you do need to pay a tad extra for that. But the camping sites have sections specifically for vehicles and do have nice bathrooms, so it wasn't a bother and not that expensive. I would like to go in the winter as well, but the endless days in the summer made the long driving distances and lengthy hikes easier to handle.
Iceland is breathtakingly beautiful. I spent a month there long ago (I think it was during the summer of 1999) and I have so many good memories from that trip. Seeing this makes me want to go back.
Really nice video, especially with the drone pictures. and a beautiful nature. It is definitely a place we will visit too. And good idea to drive around in a mobilehome.
I am headed to Iceland with my husband in a week and I loved your video. So helpful. Great info and your personalities are absolutely warm and beaming. Thank you, I am more excited now.
I love Iceland and all the waterfalls lol I had a similar feeling in Canada after driving about 2000km across the country - lakes and trees and lakes and trees and blueberries and lakes and trees
Interesting. I love that you put the km in because TBH I never realized Iceland was so BIT. It looks kinda small on maps (when I was in school, it was up in a corner of the map, along with the Faroe Islands and Bornholm :P)
Great video and I thank you for the research you did before the trip to Iceland. There is so much to see and the landscape is so full of drama itself. But I think you missed one thing or is it too difficult to reach. Anyway. You didn´t visit the volcano Eyjafjallajökull that had an eruption in 2010. The eruption had such a huge impact on aviation over the Atlantic and Europe so they had to close all flights for a period of time because of the big dust clout Eyjafjallajökull spread out in the atmosphere. Over the Atlantic and Europe. I would have liked to see some picks from there. I still remember the chaos it caused. And you didn´t have any footage of the Icelandic horses. They are tiny, but tough and can withstand any kind of weather. (And they are cute too)
Iceland is stunningly beautiful! I wanted to book our flight to CPH on Icelandic Air because of they have the option to add a stopover in Reykjavik, however it did not work out for this trip. I will suggest it to family that are visiting us in Denmark as they will love the spectacular scenery.
Sorry that you mist the the new volcano on Iceland. Have been following the development from the start and I wish I had the chance to see it in real life, not only on live video.
When we went they did a pcr test right when you landed (that we paid for) and only needed to quarantine for the 12 hours or so until you got the result assuming you are negative. We stayed in a hotel that first night and by the time we got the camper the next day we were good to go. They may have different rules now, this was summer of 2020 and coming from Denmark.
You two awesome US parents are really growing a lot of grey hair. Is it because: A) You dyed your hair before coming here?, B) The Scandinavians are really taking a toll on you or is it C) You show solidarity with Denmark looking like the Queen?? Great video btw
Big fan of your show guys, just wondering did you make previous travel vlogs or have you made a video of the places you guys have visited in the past before channel was made, keep up the goid work.
Thanks! Nah, unfortunately I only started taking video with the trip to Iceland. I have tons of photos from past trips, but the video bit is fairly new.
Fantastic video! My family and I are currently planning a trip to Iceland, and your logistical advice is very insightful. I also love the drone footage. I just bought a mini drone, and I would be curious to hear what exactly you did to learn how to fly yours. Thank you!
Hey! Thanks for the kind words, I do hope the video helps some with your planning. For the drone, I just went out in a spot where I could fly it and experimented a bit until I got the hang of it. It is challenging at first to move more than one axis at a time, but it is rewarding when you can get some cool moves down. I bought mine right before this trip to Iceland, so I was learning a ton as I was going along. Just have a couple batteries and give yourself time to play :).
Iceland is lovely. Loved the hotdogs made with lamb sausages, they are great. But i could not get used to the rotten egg(Sulphur) smell of the water. The water in Akureyri and the westfjords was better. You should give the Faroes a go, only a 2 hour flight from Denmark.
Hah I thought you had seen geysers before. Aren't it Yellowstone which has a geyser area? But beautiful pictures. I haven't been there(yet). I'm also not sure if I will connect it with a trip to the Faroe islands I usually tease Icelandic people about if they stayed as a part of Denmark they wouldn't have went bankrupt 😂
